I think they give Mayo another season, they are rebuilding and didn't plan on this season being a success other than Maye showing progress.
The team is a disaster and needs to get some new pieces, the WR corp and OL is horrible, Vrable wouldn't have done much better with this squad
Agreed, with everything above. Vrabel/McDaniels was my best-case scenario before we heard that Mayo was hired and there are reports over this past week that they both would be interested in the HC & OC positions if they become available.
Also, I doubt that the Kraft's would want to pay Mayo's remaining contract money while also paying another HC after they just paid 20-25M for Belichick in 2024.
Sidenote: Looks like Barmore's previous issues with blood clots have returned and he's now likely done for the season. Horrible luck for him this year.

It sounds like a replay of the Sullivan era without the surprise break-outs in the standings now and then.

Well the moment was just too. big for them to play big boy football. in Buffalo
The one thing that still sticks out is why the hell do a backwards pass to all knuckles Stephenson when your so deep in your own territory?

I thought the play calling in the first half was pretty good but we never adjusted to what Buffalo did in the second half. It also didn't help that we lost focus in that second half (Stevenson fumble, Mapu's brainfart INT in the endzone and that horrible lateral pass.)
With all of the negativity around whether Mayo should keep his job or not I've thought that Alex van Pelt was definitely playing for his over these final three weeks. At the very least the Kraft's will find some sort of scapegoat to move on from and it could up being AVP. I would definitely be replacing the OL coach, Scott Peters regardless of what happens with Van Pelt.
Just dont mess around and win a game. Theres a pretty good chance they can get Hunter if they lose out especially if the Jags and Browns win a game. Maye and Hunter together would be a very big problem for other teams

They’re not on the field to lose. Respect to the Raiders, they suck but they went out and won a game and had the integrity to not tank.
Respect to the Pats also nobody thought they were going to be a part of that game with the Bills but they put up a good fight.
The only scenario where I could see NE possibly winning one of their two finals games is if Buffalo decides to rest Allen and most of the starters for that final game in NE. not likely though because the Bills are still playing for the #1 seed in the AFC. If KC wins at Pittsburgh next week, that 1st seed is then locked up,
Even if NE lands a top 2-3 pick I'd expect them to find a trade partner somewhere in that 4-8 range looking for a QB (NYG,NYJ,TEN,CLE,LVR could all realistically be looking for a QB with a move up.) The Pats offense still has way too many holes to fill (LT/RT/C/WR1) to feel that they shouldn't trade back. LG Layden Robinson & RG Michael Onwenu are their only two starting caliber O-Linemen.
The Browns are probably stuck with Watson for now with that contract. Vegas is going to take a QB likely Sanders. Ward is the other QB that will go really high which the Giants probably take if the Raiders go with Sanders or take Sanders if they go with Ward. Titans are a wild card if theyre ready to give up on Levis which they should. Id say the Browns and Jags are the two biggest threats to pick off someone like Hunter given this is a weak QB class and they have big contracts on QBs already. Ewers might be tempting for someone to move back in the draft but has a significant injury history that might scare some teams away.
I would like to see Hunter paired up with one of the young QBs like Maye and see what they can do together
IMO, our Offensive Line is a much bigger need than WR. The Pats have been rolling out Practice Squad Jags as their starting O-linemen for months now.
Hunter would still be a great pick though, I would definitely be happy if he was the pick but Drake's their future and they need to protect him over everything else,
I definitely wouldnt argue against Campbell or Banks the two elite tackles in the draft who wont last very long. Williams the other tackle at Texas with Banks will probably be a first rounder too. Campbell is probably the best pass protector of the group but if the season ended today they could certainly trade down with the Raiders and get one of them or Hunter. If they win a game Williams will probably be the only one left
