Taylor Swifts impact on the NFL is estimated at well over 300 million. Kelces jersey sales spiked over 400% and viewership has significantly spiked for their games.

I dont blame the NFL one bit for taking advantage of it. Theyve been trying for years to get her to do a half time show at the SB and she always says no. She has a concert in Japan that she can make it back to the SB if she gets on her jet right away so she may or may not be there for it.

Chiefs are winning the SB. The Lions had to completely blow the game looking like a rec league team for 20 minutes and still almost won. If they catch the INT or any number of passes they dropped during that time they win the game and the 49ers are watching the game like the rest of us

"The reason why Purdy gets labeled as not very good is because hes not very good."

Even though Purdy is not very good I think it is "Purdy" cool that someone who is not very good (Mr. Irrelevant) was a major contributor to SF making a comeback yesterday to beat the Lions and is going to be playing in the Superbowl.

One must always keep in mind though that if Purdy and the 49rs win the Superbowl (even if Purdy completes every pass for 300 yards, throws 4 touchdown passes, runs for 80 yards, runs for a touchdown and has no interceptions or fumbles) Purdy is still not very good (absolutely nothing he can do on the field during the Superbowl will change the fact that he is not very good).

I expect that if the 49rs win the Superbowl during the off season the team will actively look to trade Purdy in order to upgrade its 2024 roster with a QB that is good or is very good.

I mean the 49rs can have no confidence moving forward with a Mr. Irrelevant that has a 21-5 record as a starter in less than two full seasons, with s 6-1 playoff record, because Purdy is just....................................... not very good. :)

Moving forward everyone must realize and acknowledge that Purdy is not very good. B)

Except for the fact that Purdy was not a major reason for the come back. The come back happened because Detroit couldnt catch a ball for 20 minutes dropping multiple first downs, fumbled the ball deep in their own terroitory, and dropped a 60 yard INT that hit the DB in the face and bounced up for a catch that would have been Purdys second pick of the day.

Purdy was carried by his team once again. His stats should have read 19/37 216 yard 2 INTs 1 TD but Detroit decided no one would catch the ball in the 3rd quarter.

Purdy is not very good. Hes ok at best.

    Basebal21.

Purdy is not very good. He is not even good. At best he is ok.

There may even be sufficient evidence present today that supports the conclusion that from this date forward through the end of his career playing in the NFL that he will never, ever be very good or even good. In fact it may be a stretch to say at he is at best ok. He may not be ok. He may never be ok. He may be not very good, or even bad.

Even if the 49rs win the Superbowl in two weeks and Purdy has really good stats.

  • Basebal21Basebal21 Posts: 3,634 ✭✭✭✭✭

Theres plenty of stats that Purdy is a beneficiary of a ridiculously loaded offense

They can win the SB that doesnt mean it was him. He doesnt carry his team, he gets carried by it and got lucky. Even with the luck his Stats werent all that impressive

In 1979 during Joe Montana's first or second season the conventional wisdom was that he was a system QB who played well only because of the great talent around him and that he lacked the athletic talent to succeed. He was viewed as not very good or not good at all.

Time passed and Montana turned out to be really good.

No one knows how good or not good Purdy will be. All we know is he is not very good today. :)

there is a fairly significant Brock Purdey discussion going on across the street right now. I wonder if Basebal21 is one of the main antagonists posting in that thread?

I dont post ats or use alts. If people want to have a grudge against me for things said on other forums thats their choice. Believe it or not its a pretty common opinion that Purdy is over achieving from how loaded the 49ers offense is with talent.

What would you rather have: Your team winning a SB with a bad QB, or your team losing with a great QB?

Winning with a bad one. At least you get that one. The great one would be more fun to watch game to game and better long term but a number of great QBs have never won the SB. If you have the choice to win it all you take it especially for fan bases that its been decades or never have

I love the Niners, one of my teams, thrilled they are there, and respect Mahomes and the Chiefs. Me? I am going a few doors down where the Niner faithful will get together to watch the game although we live many states and miles from SF. My task? Grill the nicely seasoned flank steak for the fajitas for the whole parteeeeeee! Yippee what fun, hoping for a Niners vick tor eeee!

Okay is middle of the road which he is on a ridiculously loaded offense. He basically has the Bama 2020 version of offense at the NFL level. He has studs at basically every position and multiple HOFers around him. Its okay if people dont want to acknowledge that SF managed to put basically a fantasy team on offense, they wont be able to keep it together for more than a couple years max. Good for them if they do win one during that time this is certainly their window.

Hes not elite. It may take two or 3 years for the talent around him to be retiring or moving out for costings to much and no one will remember whats said now, but no ones going to be talking about him as elite in 4 years

That is close is to a “wardrobe malfunction.” I’ll bet you won’t get to see that on television. The cameras will be too high up.

    Thanks for the view.

For many fans, a Super Bowl win for their favorite team is a once in a lifetime celebration, if it happens at all. There are many Detroit Lions fans and Philadelphia Eagles who lived and died between an NFL Championship and a Super Bowl win. For the Eagles, the gap was 1960 to 2017. For Lions it's 1957 and still waiting.

I can be quite flexible, but I can't stand two teams, the Dallas Cowboys with their "America's team" nonsense and increasingly the Kansas City Chiefs with their arrogance. I don't much care about the 49ers. They are good. They contend every year. That's it. There is nothing to attract me to them.

This would have been a good Super Bowl if Baltimore or Detroit had gotten in. The three teams I root for closely are Philadelphia, form my youth, New England, from my middle age, and Tampa, from my old age. All of those teams have had their Super Bowl wins, and probably none of them will win again in my lifetime. That's the way it is in sports.

In football, if you get a great quarterback, a decent offensive line, a decent defense and a good coaching staff, you win. If you don't get the good quarterback, you don't win. The other three don't matter.

If I were at the house with your friends, I could ignore the game and enjoy the comeradity. I'm not, so there is nothing to attract me to that game.

Hey, politics and religion are of course still out. That won't change. But I do know that what they used to be called here as "girly pics" may get ya a private massage warning or even a ban with no warning.

So I would advise not to post any girly pics. Perhaps even think about deleting the ones posted here in this thread, particularly the Dua Lipa pics.

Curry isnt remotely comparable. Curry shoots the ball himself and no one else has to do anything but watch it fly through the air.

I plan on putting $5 each on Mahomes and Kelce for MVP. I know MVP usually goes to a QB. But if Kelce has a great game, Kelce just breaking Rice's playoff record and the Swift angle, I can envision the PR of her joining him on the celebration podium. If she can make the game. If this took place the Swifty universe may explode. I'd rather have the Kelce/ Swift angle covered on a hunch than not. Backing up that bet with Mahomes.

How about a bet for CM of the 49rs as the MVP. If the 49rs win and CM wins the MVP he and Olivia Culpo can take center stage on the celebration podium.

Who would be preferable on the celebration podium?

Kelse and Swift (if KC wins), or CM and Culpo (if SF wins)?

It wasn't a "nasty" PM, but I received a PM warning from the mod just for commenting on the Perkies. I didn't even repost the pic or anything, just a remark about it. Not kidding.

So I figured after that, CU really means business when it comes to girly pics. It's understandable.

It's interesting, it seems like only yesterday I was playfully teasing my wife in the leadup to the 2019 AFC Championship Game how sick everyone outside of New England was of the Patriots (they have gone to the Super Bowl four out of the past five times at this point) and what a refreshing change of pace it'd be for someone else to take the AFC pennant for a change! Now all of a sudden, it's the Chefs who have now gone to the Big Game four out of five times and now most everyone outside the KC area is sick of them!

Still have the perkies saved on my work computer. Doubt my company cares as they are innocent enough in that pic.

It was a long time ago when I searched it, and you may already know this, but at least back then there were some additional pics of the Perkies. Same everything, just a few different camera angles. Those pics were also great, but the sig line pic, in my opinion was the best one.

We did back in the day like to have our own Super Bowl parties when her Patriots were in the SB but honestly I have no real reason to care about it...now the Kitty Bowl OTOH...

It is funny how quickly a team can go from the golden boys to hated if they have too much success too often.

many hate Brady, but he was pretty popular after the first SB, with the drafted 199 storyline.

now the same sort of thing will happen with Patty and the Chiefs. most people do not want to root for Goliath.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

perhaps i am either misremembering or not remembering at all. were the "perkies" that photo of 2 girls at a college football game that used to be perkdogs avatar? maybe FSU? maybe it was before my time ( I think i got here about 11 years ago)

if it was that image, i dont remember of it being obscene. they were both totally covered right?

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

There is without a doubt a level of hatred building against the Chiefs. Their smugness has become a bit nauseating, and the Taylor Swift escapades speak for itself. We all know the average NFL fan is not and never will be a Taylor Swift fan.

The constant smooching on the lips of Kelce and Swift in public. Who the yell wants to see that? Keep that teenager in heat behavior private for crying out loud.

That being said, I don't think the Chiefs are in the same realm yet for hatred as the Dallas Cowboys used to be and still are. The Cowboys owner has a lot to do with the hate towards his team continuing for decades now.

Yep, I studied them extensively before chosing lol

I like how the Chiefs self confidence is being interpreted as smugness.
The same as Brady and the Patriots during their dynasty.

If the Chiefs win again you better get used to it. Patriot fans dealt with this crap from jealous fans for many years and still do.
After the 1st or 2nd SB they were calling Mahomes the GOAT.

The Perkies were up there for a long time.

My guess is that it wasn't the Perkies that were all that bad, which they weren't, but what CU thought it might lead to. Perhaps the mod at the time envisioned it possibly leading to Playboy type pics or whatever. I really don't know.

Frankly, not having any girly pics on here doesn't bother me at all. I come here for the cards and coins, the sports talk, and some other interesting categories.

I'm glad as it is that CU allows pics, memes, etc. There are forums out there that don't allow any of that, only text is allowed. I guess they can't afford the cost of the extra server space. In any event, the visuals of course make for a much better fun and entertaining forum.

Now if they ban emojis, that would be going too far. I can't live without emojis. 😊

I think the Swift thing bothers some people even though it shouldn't, she is supporting her guy as she should

As far as smugness goes for the Chiefs I'd have to say I am on their side with that, they were counted out before the playoffs even started and here they are going to the Super Bowl again.

In my view, the constant Swiftie chit at the Chief's games lacks class. Away from the stadium I couldn't care less about it. At the stadium, the game should be kept classy, not a soap opera for teenagers.

Take a look at this video. The touchy-feely chit is difficult to watch. If that isn't smug, I'm not sure what is? And wear some long pants for crying out loud. Show some class.

Also it's easy to observe that Travis is a little bit off, perhaps a lot off - LOL
