To be fair, that was a pretty egregious holding no-call in the middle of Ohio's 3rd touchdown drive.
Texas got away with some calls as well. That was a fumble by Manning that would have prevented their second TD. It also looked like Ewers knee was down before he released the ball which would've been 4th and long.
With all the complaints about this new 12 team playoff system, I think it worked out pretty good. The two best teams are playing for a Natty.

The Manning one was sort of close but the Ewers one was not. Refs got both calls correct.

As a group we are hyper-critical of officiating at every level. Overall, the ref's get almost all the calls correct, doing it in real time as we watch frame by frame replays and gripe about them. Sure, they missed calls yesterday like they always do but they can't see everything. I thought it was a good game where each team made some spectacular plays and also some big mistakes. That goes for the players and the coaches.
Welcome, @Bullsitter. It's no surprise that you have pretty much vanished but you do show up every now and then and manage to criticize Ohio State. You're a classic. Tune in to Paul Finebaum, he's on the verge of a nervous breakdown right now, still whining about the "frauds" and trying to figure out why Alabama isn't involved somehow.
This is gonna be the new SEC whine: NIL money. After years of stockpiling players by paying them illegally the SEC teams will have to pony up some cash in direct competition with every other school in the nation. So far they have failed, maybe they'll do better this year. Those schools are good recruiters of talent but the game/rules are different now so they must adapt, improvise and overcome.
--- aside to @Bullsitter, @Basebal21 and Paul Finebaum:
Alabama lost to Michigan.
Michigan lost to Indiana.
Indiana lost 2 games, to Ohio State and Notre Dame.
Ohio State plays Notre Dame for the Championship.
Isn't it neat the way things work out when teams actually play each other?? Isn't it neat the way things work out when teams have to actually win football games to make it to the semi-finals and championship games. Isn't it neat the way the transfer portal, NIL and an expanded playoff has affected everything?? Can't wait for the game between the Buckeyes and the Irish. I'm gonna watch "RUDY" this week and I can't wait to hear the Notre Dame band play their fight song!!
I made the mistake of looking at NIL spending as there was a listing of the top 50 schools. I was surprised at the comparisons between various schools… afew were surprising. College Football has forever changed. I am not sure what has unfolded is sustainable. And to be clear, it is the collective change of conference expansion, portals, travel and money which begs the question…How much is enough? There seem to be moving parts that may undermine some of the traditional stability of the NCAA.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

I'm guessing Baseball pissed off way more people than just us! LOL!!!!!!!!!
This will likely be my only post for probably another week or until I start to feel better. Ive been recovering from surgery and just logging in every now and then to reply to messages, Its hard enough to get my work done while recovering without posting when Im sleeping most of the day.
As far as the game Texas did get screwed on that blatant hold by the RT to keep the 80 yard TD drive alive, but Stark had atrocious play calling at the end of both halfs. That horrendous prevent defense before the half you could see that TD coming a mile away and that 5 yard pitch back on the 1 is just about the worst possible play that could have been called there
Edit to ad I wouldnt count out ND on Monday. Texas just gave them the blueprint on how to shut down Smith but OSU should be the favorite
Isn't it neat that the teams in the National Championship didn't play in a Conference Championship game.
Isn't it neat that they got to heal and rest while other teams played and risk injuries (Georgia).
Georgia, with Beck would have won it all. Georgia whipped OSU the last time they played, now that's neat.
Thanks for showing up right on cue, guys, I feel guilty now because that was just too easy.
Isn't it neat that a team from the Big 10 and an Independent get to play in Atlanta while the SEC watches?? Honestly, we could do this all day. It probably better to just talk football because in a little over a week this thread will die out and everybody can return to their corners till September. I expect a good game for the Championship with both teams having a real chance to win, no blowout by either one. Notre Dame has a stout defense but their d-line isn't nearly as good as Texas. The Longhorns were like a brick wall. Ohio State should be OK if they can avoid the penalties and continue to bring pressure against Leonard.

You mean like Alabama not playing in their conference championship game in 2017 and winning the natty? Funny I dont recall you complaining about that one??
Ohio State losing by one point against Georgia in Georgia's backyard is hardly a whipping
@coolstanley said: Ohio State losing by one point against Georgia in Georgia's backyard is hardly a whipping.
Yeah, that was a really good games with both teams playing to a high level. What it all came down to was a mis-read by either the QB or the receiver. He broke to the left, QB read it the other way and the result was an INT in the endzone. Not a good result for an Ohio State fan, but I can accept losses when the team plays good and the Buckeyes did, Georgia was really loaded that year and deserved the win.
I'm from MI, I'm rooting for OSU cause as a UGA alum I want ND to lose. That's all the skin I have in this unless someone wants to throw a $20 down for shiz and giggles.

You might be thinking about another game. Georgia 2022 was the game where Georgia got away with a non-targeting call on Marvin Harrison, that knocked him out of the game when the Buckeyes were leading by 14 points in the 4th quarter.

This, regarding the NIL money leveling the field, is what I meant previously about the SEC’s dirty dealing allowing their schools to so flamboyantly engage in pay for play. Now it’s most money wins most of the time.
We joked about the B1G media deal vs the SEC media deal in this thread earlier. You can correlate the value of these deals from the median income of the states in question. NIL money is likely to follow suit.

@Bullsitter, if I read that chart right and see all the SEC teams dominating the Top 10 and compare that to the results of this past season I come to one conclusion: the SEC sucks and their ROI wasn't very good.
If this chart represents money spent for the 2025 season then the above does not apply..................yet.
Also, there should be some distinction between money spent to lure players away from other teams and money spent to retain current players. Most teams do both and I would assume it's probably close to a 50/50 split.

The championship game should be a good one.
There was also a missed holding by OSU. One of their WRs grabbed a Texas CBs hand with his facemask. Wasn’t called.
