A quick Google search indicates that Magic Johnson's net worth is $1.6 BILLION, so for all intents and purposes, yes, he does have unlimited resources.
It took me awhile to come around, but I am now of the mind that I just need to ignore everything @Basebal21 posts.
Pretty impressive Magic is worth more than Lebron. Now with all this money floating around, and the NCAA is looking to expand eligibility to five years, college ball is quickly turning into a pro league.
Magics net work is tired up in investments particularity a life insurance company and some very minor shares in sports teams. His free capital isnt that much without others in terms of NIL. Ellison could outspend Magics net work every year if he wanted too so could the Waltons.
Ellison is going to be an interesting one. He went to Illinois and his wife went to Michigan. He can get anyone he wants if hes willing to spend the money which is nothing to him. He doesnt really seem like a huge college football guy though and his wife I dont really know about how much she cares. 15 million to them is like one day of earnings
And what about the other 2 times in the game?
Or the other ones that werent reviewed?
I'm not sure which other two you're referring to. I only remember one and that one WAS reviewed and was correctly ruled not targeting.
That was nothing more than a tackle
I mean, sure, other than the lowering of the head and the crown of the helmet contact to the facemask of a defenseless player. Rule of thumb when tackling: see what you're tackling. The defender here couldn't - because he was looking almost completely straight down because, you know, he was hitting with the crown of his helmet. But what do I know? I only agree with the rules analyst at the game and Gene Steratore.
That had happened multiple time before already and the replay picked up the flag.
Replay was officiating a game one way and should they just change it at the very end?
If the first two had been called sure theres and argument there but they were called back. The rules analysts dont even really watch games and multiple big time commenters have pointed that out
Why should the crew change how they officiated a game at the end? I give them credit that they didnt want o take over the game and the 50 50 calls the whole game they stood back on
Like I said, don't know which two you're referring to since you're not explaining. The one I know of was called correctly.
Weird position to advocate for - wanting referees to make wrong calls.
@Maywood said: @Tabe, he probably doesn't know what two he's talking about.
Because there were 3.
It's going to be fun the next few years watching the under-the-table sham that the SEC was disintegrate before our eyes. As soon as they started paying players in college they started the process to creating a developmental league for the NFL.

Wow, that seems harsh. It's a little early to write off the entire conference.
I am only referring to the aspect of pay-for-play. I didn't mean to imply that the conference would fold - merely that it is the end of an era of conspicuous malfeasance in college football. I also don't mean to imply that this was a SEC-only issue, but many SEC schools didn't even try to hide it.
It's widely acknowledged that many schools were doing things under the table, too much reporting by individual former players for it to be false or some sort of conspiracy. But I think with a school like Alabama that much of their slide is due to Nick Saban leaving and still no suitable replacement being found. Another thing about all this I just don't accept is that SEC schools like Alabama, Georgia, etc. had "Heisman Trophy" winners waiting on 2nd/3rd teams and a chance to play. That's just BS hype put forth mainly by ESPN.
It'll take more than 2 years for NIL to level out, but it seems clear thus far that non-SEC schools are making the best offers and that players sense a better opportunity at schools away from that conference. That's another thing that will level out given time. My hunch is that conferences like the Big 12 and ACC will benefit the most in the long run.
In case you missed it - North Dakota State wins it's unprecedented 10th FCS Championship!
Congrats to the Bison - 10 in 14 years will never be seen again.
Horns up for next year!
I think Notre Dame wins a close one, I like ND but hope they lose just because they screwed me hard on a big parlay by losing to Northern Illinois early on.
Pa. and Ohio are a feeding trough for college football, always have been. It's part of the reason Ohio State remains competitive most every year. They may not win championships but are always in the hunt because of homegrown talent and the way the rob Pa. Right now there a few NFL players that grew up and went to school not far from where I am.
The Texas advantage is the weather and sheer number of people that live there, almost as many as Ohio and Pa. combined. The Lone Star State is like a freakin' farm system in itself!!

Go Lions
hey ya Perkdog...
I'd rub the bottles a few times...
What a really good game, what a 4th quarter and what a whale of a finish. That stadium was loud for the entire game.
One thing that struck me was the quality of play by both teams, some really good guys on offense and defense from both teams. @perkdog called it, Notre Dame in a close game. 👍
No matter who wins tonight the Irish victory was good for college football and it was neat hearing the band play the “fight song” as fans swarmed the field. I think I might watch “RUDY” this weekend.
An aside to anyone who was ranting about teams being left out, strength of schedule and who didn’t belong. Well, you just don’t know what you’re talking about. Deal with it.
In the minds of some people, teams always lose because they screwed up, they never lose because they played good but the other team just played better. It never ends!!
In transfer portal news, Carson Beck has entered and left Georgia in his rearview mirror on his way south to Miami. He's following the most recent Dillon Gabriel model, entering his 6th season and heading to where he thinks the combination of money and chances to win a Natty are best. The move doesn't speak well of Kirby Smart and the current state of affairs at Georgia.
i predicted ND vs OSU, but i don't think ND can beat Texas either
tonight's game is going to be a stark contract to what we saw last night, and whoever wins is going to win their next game too
ND is a great story after that embarrassing loss and i like their coach (as i said up above), but that QB and that offense won't be able to hang with either of the teams playing tonight
Ohio State play calling is starting to mimic Michigan, as though OC Kelly is determined to prove Ohio State can run up the middle. That front of Texas is stout, if the play calling doesn't change to take advantage of the Buckeye strengths then Texas will win.
All the pre-game talk seemed to focus on offense and scoring, who would have thought it would be primarily a defensive battle!! It's starting to look like whoever has the ball last will win or else OT.
--- That was a long drive, 7+ minutes and 80 yards, should have given the defense some rest.
run it up the gut 4 times and the probability of not scoring a TD is near zero. hell, QB sneak it 4 times. virtually impossible to stop. does the name Arch Manning ring a bell? hello McFly!
nah, instead let's risk a big loss by dialing up a HB toss against a D that has an overabundance of speed from the 1 damn yard line.

Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007

this is easily in my top 25 most impressive sports-related feats of all time
this kid (a freshman walk-on) who plays for North Texas hadn't made a start at QB since his freshman year in high school
then he went out and compiled 448 yards & 3 TDs in their bowl game
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

Hey COOL, not all of us are still playing from 2024.
You need to make us a 2025 thread, over and out.
I have a lot to say and I'm not gonna be nice like before.....
@Bullsitter, don’t hold us in suspense. Go ahead and dump!! 😂😂

Penn State blew the game late in the 4th quarter on defense and the Allar interception. Congrats to ND beating the BIG TEN's 3rd best team.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!

Definitely a close one, let's see if tonight's game can match it.
I think OSU beats Texas by 14 plus
Yessir, Notre Dame moving on to the Championship.
Ohio St & Tex....I think I'm gonna Re-roof the house tonight...

They had a very easy playoff schedule.
They easily beat two teams that shouldn't have even been there.
Played a pretty good ND team and lost.

Wow, OSU stops Texas on 4th down then drives right down the field for a TD! 7-0

Well that is the matchup that will make the most money for everybody. I don't want to say even CFB is rigged........But???

Texas next game will be against the Buckeyes in Columbus on August 30. Might break viewership records with Archie Manning as QB1.
Buckeyes open up as huge 9.5 favorites against the Irish.

I don’t think you are considering strength of schedule.
To be fair, that was a pretty egregious holding no-call in the middle of Ohio's 3rd touchdown drive.
But, holy cow, Sark, you don't pitch the ball deep from the 1. And then HE BLAMED HIS TEAM FOR NOT EXECUTING PROPERLY.
So I will hold my nose and root for, ugh, Notre Dame.
