No asterisks. He had 192 yards and 3 TD's, against the #3 team in the country on the road.
You mean Oregon. And he had 267 and 6 TDs against Georgia Southern and 127 against Portland state where he didnt play that much, and 259 and 4 TDs against a bad Washington State team and 186 and 3 TDs against Utah State.
Absolutely will be an asterisk for not playing in a power conference. One game against Oregon doesnt change that

Probably no one can name the 3rd rusher on the list for the record. Most would probably guess a Marcus Allen whose 4th, but the 3rd is Kevin Smith from UCF who was only 20 yards behind Gordon. But he did it at UCF before they joined the Big 12
Even more remarkable for Barry:
Barry got his in 11 games and then added 222 in the Holiday Bowl for a total of 2850. Bowl games weren't counted in season stats in 1988 so 2628 is his official total for the year.

Some of their top contributors were former three-star recruits. To say that Washington State is a bad team based on their composition place is ridiculous. Some teams who have high compositions fail the test. Example: Texas A@M.
Throughout the Jim Harbaugh era, Michigan has recruited plenty of three-star talents who have turned into NFL Draft picks. Youre talking around yourself again. Its a fact that over half of Michigans roster was 4 and 5 stars. Its a fact that Vanderbilt has a significantly more talented roster than Washington State. If Vanderbilt is terrible as you say than Washington State is significantly worse.

Texas Tech is only in the 30s because of a 5 star freshman WR. Washington is mid 30s and not that good either.
Georgia State has more 4 stars than Washington State does
Strangely enough the Cougars are ranked just above the Broncos. If we're trying to justify teams based on their recruitment ranking I think that means we're officially in the weeds.
Recruitment rankings are a mixed bag at best. 60% of 5-star recruits are drafted. 40% of NFL draft picks were 3-star recruits. 3-star is the PSA 8 of recruitment rankings.
Is the whole point of this to prove indirectly that Jeanty isn't the next Barry Sanders?

Gotta agree with BGR and Stanley on this. Rankings are just part of the story. As Stanley mentioned, Texas A&M should have been world beaters for a bunch of years if it was all based on player rankings. And those first Boise St teams that pretty consistently pulled off upsets - GA, VT, FSU, etc - certainly didn’t match up roster-wise. And it wasn’t flukey - they beat ”better” teams by star rating every year or 2. Coaching, the locker room, WHY a kid is there, etc. all play a part. TA&M hired a bunch of 5 stars that were in it to get paid and failed miserably related to their roster rating. Other teams get guys in that want to play for the school, the coach, and each other and, with the right coaches, far exceed what their roster rating should allow for.
On a related note, either Stanley doesn’t really ignore Basebal or he should change his sig line
A&M would have been if they had a good QB. They have whiffed on the QB position pretty much since Johnny left which has gotten coaches fired., They were also unlucky enough to be in the same division as Saban at the peak of his power, the 2019 LSU team which is arguably the best college football team of all time and then Kirby coming to power.
It not like they were bad under Sumlin or Jimbo, they just werent national champion good and they want to be national champion good.
Washington State isnt a good team. More importantly theres no way someone can Vandy is a bad team but WSU is a good team without some incredible pretzel logic.
Also while South Carolina is better than they get credit for, Milroe isnt very good, hes a slightly better Joe Milton. It blows my mind that hes who Bama has settled for at QB the last 2 years
I think you’re too focused on the “huge upset” concept with regard to Bama. Vandy isn’t a bad team but they shouldn’t be beating a #1. The issue just goes back to the fact that Bama shouldn’t have been a #1. I think you’re the one walking the pretzel. The cougars have a poor defense. Jeanty isn’t Barry. It all adds up to what it is. That doesn’t mean he’s not having a great season or that there needs to be an asterisk.
Any record done outside of a power conference should have an asterisk for football. Theres a reason why Deion dominated at Jackson state with two elite players and has struggled at Colorado. Im fine with kicking records although even then theres still a cheat code with Air Force and Wyoming both being above 7000 feet
That type of simplistic logic ignores variables of significance which have impacted the records since they’ve been kept. Your opinion here seems to only provide shelter from critical thought. Either way, you’re entitled to it just as others are entitled to theirs. As long as the drum doesn’t keep goin. I’m glad your Alabama narrative has softened. That’s growth.
Maybe 1 or 2 . Winner of LSU Ole Miss probably jumps them and other than that Oklahoma is really the only other one in position to do so if they were to beat Texas

How many spots does Bama drop after that lackluster performance?
With Carolina being a 21 point dog, and almost pulling the upset, with a 25-27 loss to Alabama, I would think Bama is gonna drop to at least 10th or worse. How can you play so poorly, losing to a non ranked team, Vandy, and almost losing in the following week to another non ranked team? After Tennessee beats them in Knoxville next week, I'd say their season is done. Missouri comes in and I think they have a shot to beat Bama...then they go to Baton Rouge and endure LSU, who I think will take them.
I think the only bowl game Bama goes to this year is the "You're Toast Bowl", for sure no major venue. Been wrong before, but if you can't ring up a 21 point dog at home, and barely squeaking by, there's a dark cloud over Tuscaloosa.

Theres only one clear team that would jump them with the Ole Miss LSU winner, but Vandy and South Carolina are not getting anywhere near enough credit especially South Carolina. Theyre sneaky good that play teams tough when their QB is healthy.
Clemson beating a bad Wake Forrest isnt really worthy of jumping up,. BYU beating Arizona wont jump them 7 spots, ND beating Stanford isnt worthy of a 4 spot jump without upsets and their loss is much worse than Bamas. Part of it is just whose worthy of jumping a team that won and there just arent many. I guess maybe Tennessee if they win which would put Bama at 9.
What a barn burner… unbelievable ending 50-49. What a 4th quarter. What a Purdue comeback in the 4th quarter followed by a last play FG by the Illini to send the game into OT. Illini score a TD on their first OT play. Then Purdue scores a TD and chose to go for two. And they successfully converted two 2 point conversions in regulation. Game ended with Browne getting sacked. Illinois blew a 24 point lead and nearly lost. What a game…Purdue scored 40 points in the second half. Wow… didn’t see any of that coming-especially the last 2 minutes Purdue was down 40-28.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

Fantastic comeback from Penn State against Southern Cal.
My boys have to figure out their slow starts… we’ve repeatedly underperformed in the first half and then dominated in the second half. Kudos to USC for turning it on this week - all I heard all week long was that their lines sucked and PSU would run all over them and pressure the QB all day. Neither were true - they came to play in a big way.
Also thankful Franklin swapped kickers a couple games ago - gave our guy a few attempts to get used to things before facing a big pressure situation.
6-0 but i’m realistic - we’ll lose to OSU and are probably about 10-12th overall. But if we finish 11-1 or 11-2 if we play in the B1G championship and lose again to OSU we’ll possibly host a playoff game. Would love to see a December playoff game in Beaver Stadium!

Boise has a much higher SOR than SC. I don’t disagree that ND had no business losing to NIU. I also don’t think ND will jump Bama in the rankings that matter this week but Bama is in free fall. Only special #1s lose to unranked. All things considered Iowa state has had a better season so far. And that’s funny!

It blows my mind that hes who Bama has settled for at QB the last 2 years
Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007
I think you’re too focused on the “huge upset” concept with regard to Bama.
Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007
That type of simplistic logic ignores variables of significance which have impacted the records since they’ve been kept. Your opinion here seems to only provide shelter from critical thought. Either way, you’re entitled to it just as others are entitled to theirs. As long as the drum doesn’t keep goin. I’m glad your Alabama narrative has softened. That’s growth.
Wow, never thought of a drop kick onside kick! Great ending to this SC-AL game regardless of how it ends.

The spin on that kick was filthy. That thing looked like a pool shot

How many spots does Bama drop after that lackluster performance?

Maybe 1 or 2 . Winner of LSU Ole Miss probably jumps them and other than that Oklahoma is really the only other one in position to do so if they were to beat Texas
Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007
With Carolina being a 21 point dog, and almost pulling the upset, with a 25-27 loss to Alabama, I would think Bama is gonna drop to at least 10th or worse.
@MCMLVTopps
"You're Toast Bowl" ... That was Pretty Good...🤣🙃
I do like how USC is using a back behind/offset the weak side tackle...👍
Somehow, I'm gonna have to incorporate that thought for... 🔌🏈

Bama won ugly....I'd be hard pressed to think they're gonna drop anything more than 1 or 2.

ILL
INI

Was hoping SC was going to upset the Tide.
Jim
Am I watching the Buckeyes or the Browns? A fumble lost for a Ducks TD, then the next possession - penalty, penalty, penalty, punt.
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Let's Get It In Gear...🏈🏈
Nope! Not watching the Browns - 2 touchdowns in the first half - gotta be the Buckeyes!
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
