Theres over 50 minutes left in the game. Bama has hardly lost.

SMU has put themselves in a great position to make the ACC championship game with that win over Louisville. They dont have to play Miami or Clemson and have some of the worst ACC teams left for their schedule

And just like that - Alabama down only 9

The point spread was only 22.5. They better put together a great 2nd half if they want to stay #1. OSU having no problem with Iowa.

Ohio State piling it on in the 2nd half - 28 - 0

Vandy isnt the trash they used to be. They arent elite but its been a really psychical game. I like the Vandy coach, hes really turned it around and will probably be on the short list of teams that fire their coaches. The refs have done a good job not throwing flags with how chippy the game has been so far. I'm not a big Milroe fan and that pick 6 was bad. He shocked me last week with how he played in that first half against Georgia and has returned to his normal self

Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois but is still ranked.

Vandy isnt going to compete for the SEC title, but they arent the trash they have been in years past. They have a real QB for the first time in a while and a top 50 roster talent wise for the first time in who knows how long.

I do actually detest the Buckeyes but, in fairness, if they were struggling against Vandy I expect we would be hearing a lot more about how overrated they are. Bad week for the SEC even if bama pulls this one out. And by pulls it out I mean that they turn this into a win by 20.

  • galaxy27galaxy27 Posts: 8,044 ✭✭✭✭✭

the Crimson Tide is dead in the water

    their defense is a sieve

but i'm sure baseball will introduce vandy's narrow loss to the georgia state school of dyslexia as proof that bama should still make the playoffs

Bama apologists (yes it’s not over yet but a squeaker’s an embarrassment) would be better off just saying it’s a hangover following the epic win last weekend. Trying to spin this as Vandy being a solid opponent is typical “all SEC teams are underrated and all other conferences are overrated” drivel.

Hate to break it to the guys that seem to just want to try and prove anything I say wrong but Bama is still a favorite for the playoffs. Vandy will likely upset someone else. Pavia is a very good college duel threat QB even without NFL aspirations.

Should Alabama have won sure. Bama will stay top 10. If people just want to go off of school names and not pay attention to recruiting or the fact that the transfer portal has spread out more talent whatever. DeBour had a Washington style defense out there today and Pavia took advantage, good for him.

And, by point spread, Stanford beating USC five weeks later after being 41-point underdogs was also bigger.

Michigan was 11-2 the year before and had a strong argument for playing in the national title game. And returned basically every starter. App State was 1-AA.

There's no way that losing a road conference game is a bigger upset than a home loss to a 1-AA when you're top 5.

    Tennessee loses as well

At some point people need to realize the impact of the transfer portal and NIL on college sports. Guys dont just sit anymore like 20 years ago, they go to places they will start or leave if they dont win the job. Everyone is going to take loses. The talent has never been more spread out than it is now

I really dont get your obsession with number 1. 1-4 will be conference champions. You want OSU to be #1 win the B!G and theres a chance, theres 0 chance if they dont

The fact is that App State beating Michigan as an FCS school at Michigan when Michigan was #5 20 years ago is a much worse loss. Its also weird to once again be defending your arch rival Michigan

It’s a valid question. It happens pretty rarely. But you’re also right about the transfer portal…. It’s making FPI obsolete before our eyes. We can’t look back 4 years at a program anymore to weigh their strength. With FPI broken SOR is corrupted. Everything is blowing up in how teams are being ranked. That’s the original point. There’s a bias.
