I was stunned at the Chiefs loss last night. I really thought they would roll over the Pack. Something just seems way off for them this year. even many of their wins have been in doubt until the 4th quarter. I still think they will come out of the AFC, but unless something big changes, I dont see them beating either san fran or philly

Mahomes lost that one for them. He threw a pick when he should have recognized the WR wasn’t open but he forced it anyway.
The half billion dollar man better stop making commercials and learn to throw a football again.

By the way NFL refs have done a really terrible job this year. Last nights game there were really bad calls and non calls for both teams.
On the throw to MVS the defender actually strip searched him before the ball arrived and came up with a “how to catch a football for dummies” handbook. No interference called however.
After the game that ref said he saw no material restriction that rose to the level of pass interference. 😂😂
I’ve said this before and I really believe it that part of tiger woods downfall came because of all the Nike commercials. It seemed like he started loving money more than golf. I know there were other factors like a bad back.
But I’m starting to worry that mahomes cares more about money than football now. He just doesn’t make the big plays anymore to win games. He’s already said he wants to own a football team when he’s done playing. How about more thinking about the moment than the future buddy.

I didn't watch the game but looking at the offense in its entirety, who is the go to guy in tough passing situations besides getting old Kelce?
K Toney is on the level of a Patriots receiver, Rasheed Rice is really young and Hardman? Is he on the team or no?
Hardman is injured. The closest they have to a go to guy is Rice and he’s doing fine but he is a rookie.
MVS is a terrible replacement for Tyreek hill. He catches about 1 pass a game.
They are really hurting without Tyreek this year. Last year juju did really well.

Basically I would say Mahomes is making the best of what he has, I can tell you that without Mahomes the Chiefs would not be sporting the record they have, Andy Reid or not.
If your saying Mahomes is slacking a bit I will surely take your word on it but as an outsider I can't say it's entirely his fault.
i watched the entire game and here's my take for what it's worth. Mahomes looked a little off the way he has all year, but once again imo it boils down to the receiving corps. if Tyreek was still on the team there would be no issues. there's a huge drop-off and it's clear that Mahomes is going to have to morph into Superman to get them over the hump as currently constructed.
with that said, it also didn't help matters that the Chiefs got royally screwed at the end of the game with the one of the most egregious no-calls you'll ever see. that ref should have been fired on the spot. it would have guaranteed nothing, but 1st n goal at the 5 definitely would have improved their chances.
but here's the most important takeaway: that was not the Chiefs' D i had watched all season. Jordan Love carved them up. dude had a 90(!) QBR. they did the offense no favors and were the primary reason why they lost last night.

i was right there with you. in fact, weeks ago i came very close to asking when the JL experiment was going to end. but he has found his footing in recent weeks and looks like a completely different QB.
I think Mahomes is falling victim to the Law of Averages. He isn't doing a lot different this season than he has in the past, the only difference is the result. He's reached into the Hat to pull out rabbits countless times, this year he's reaching in and...................no rabbit. At least when the Chiefs lose the fans notice it, another difference.
Let's face it, things like that 13 second TD drive aren't the norm in the world.
It is time again for the QB report, we are about 2/3 of the way through the season. It is still lookin' Purdy good, but one has also have to be impressed by Dak. Niners dee-stroyed da Eagles this week with a masterful Niner performance on both sides of the line, but who knows what will happen in about 6 weeks. It is pretty clear there are 3 elite teams in the NFC, oh wait 4? Dang, Dee-troit is also lookin' good and Goff deserves a chapeau. But I am pickin' the Niners if they can keep on sync.............
Oh but wait (again), B Mayfield continues on his mediocre way towards dee bottom of the pack. Yawn, TB still won but not bc of that chump, who had yet another unassuming performance. Worst starting qb in the league for sure (sans mebbe about 15 other pretty bad ones), guaranteed to insure your team will not win anything important - a QBR of 25.2 against one of the 3 worst dee-fenses in the NFL (Carolina). You go TB, keep on believin' in the most over-rated QB in the history of the game and see where you end up - no high draft pick, no winning in playoffs, right, down, dee-middle.

Regarding Dak and the 'Boys, until they play good competition and win I'm not buying into them.
It's easy light the scoreboard up agsinst the Giants, Redskins, Panthers and Pats

They talk about this game was just over the freaking top, people who don't even know NFL were laughing about how bad this game was going to be, how it would end at 3-0 ect.. I joked about it as well but red flags on this under 30 were everywhere.
It was fitting that it would be a "high scoring" game, the fact that it went over in the first half then both teams came down to earth in the second half was laughable.
I really didn't think the Pats would win though, Pittsburgh fans must be furious
The way both teams have played that score makes sense. Did anyone else see the stat they posted on the screen near the end of the first half?? It was something like this:
--- When teams hold their opponent to 10 points or less:
New England Patriots 1-3.
Rest of the NFL 53-0.
That's a remarkable statistic and reflective of just how anemic the Patriots offense can be and how stingy their defense can be. I went to bed at halftime and woke up to see I didn't miss much.

it really is amazing that they scored 3 first half TD's. Zappe was so much more poised and decisive than Back Foot Jones.
New England scored more points in the first half (21) than the last 3 games combined. I’m very happy New England won.
Image being a Steelers fan with Arizona ( two wins) and New England ( two wins) coming to town and you are sitting at 7-4.
Now imagine losing to both those teams and facing Colts, Bengals, Seahawks and Ravens next. Ouch
W.C.Fields "I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
i know this will never happen because the Steelers don't fire coaches, but after the past two weeks Tomlin should be looking for another job. 7-4 and then losing two straight home games to two 2-10 teams? i watched both games and Pittsburgh came out of the gates in each looking like a team that was giving about 75% effort. they are supposed to have this formidable defense and look at what Bailey Zappe of all people did to them in the first half last night. and for that to happen after what transpired the previous week? i'm sorry but that's deserving of a pink slip, because now their season is screwed.
@galaxy27 said: i know this will never happen because the Steelers don't fire coaches, but after the past two weeks Tomlin should be looking for another job
These are grown, mature men that are playing for the Steelers and if they choose to "walk" through games there really isn't much anyone can do about. Pittsburgh has a tradition of cutting ties with players who make noise or cause problems so it'll all be fixed, eventually. The announcers noted that lax performance by the Steelers players so you can believe management noticed it.
When the team made the Matt Canada decision I had stated clearly that he wasn't the problem. Media comments were made about "losing the locker room" factoring into firing him. Immediately afterwards, during the Cincinnati game and the week following, all the talk was about how the Steelers were rejuvenated and the change was good. Such appears not to be the case. The offense has problems that begin and end with the players, primarily that there's no veteran leadership. The defense is predicated on Watt and Highsmith and both have missed a little game time this season, last night it was both of them.
While you advocate getting rid of Mike Tomlin I believe he has done a remarkable job with a team that just isn't very good. They reached 7-4 using a combination of smoke, mirrors and a heavy dose of luck mixed in with solid play at exactly the right time.

There was s lot of booing by the Pittsburg faithful just before halftime.
Successful transactions:Tookybandit. "Everyone is equal, some are more equal than others".
Tomlin has made the most of a bad football team. In Ben’s final year they started 11-0?? Until defenses realized he only threw 5 yard crossing patterns.
This year the Steelers linebackers are 2nd and 3rd stringers and they are plain awful. They did make adjustments but the damage was done with 2 TD’s to Henry. Even at halftime when I went to bed I knew the Steelers wouldn’t make up an 11 point difference. The run game is none existent and putting everything on Trubisky is just wrong in so many ways. Pickens effort is horrible and Harris is weak at back at best. I don’t know where they spent their money but it sure doesn’t show
W.C.Fields "I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
@2dueces, that's a good summary of my thoughts put better than I could have put it. What has held the team together has been the defense anchored by Watt and Heyward who both are showing the signs of a long season. The blame Tomlin can be accused of is his part in the draft. You're right about Harris, who looks worn out, and Pickens who is probably dogging because he doesn't get the ball enough.
this may be a new revelation to some posting in this thread, but one of the bullet points when it comes to a head coach's job duties is having his team ready to play every week. it's baked into the 7-figure cake he eats every year. and in the span of 5 days, a football team coached by Mike Tomlin -- one that was 7-4 and firmly entrenched in the AFC playoff race -- looked strangely disinterested. if you want to sit here and bring up injuries (because the Steelers are the only team dealing with them in week 14, right?) and talk about the players being grown men out there, while refusing to use your finger energy to allocate any of the blame to the head coach, knock yourself out. thank you for the laugh on this glorious Friday.
bottom line is that the Steelers allowed two of the worst teams in football to enter their crib and jack them in the face in less than a week. the Patriots couldn't score a single point against one of the worst defenses in all the NFL last week, then 5 days later the Pittsburgh Steelers made it look like Tom Brady was wearing a Bailey Zappe jersey out there. the reason for that is because the 11 guys on defense were sleepwalking out of the gate and it lasted an entire half. then the game was effectively over. and that's 5 days after doing the exact same thing against the Arizona Cardinals. but you're right, it's injuries. and those are grown men out there. Mike Tomlin should be able to wash his hands of the situation like he's Pontius Pilate because he fulfilled his obligations as head coach of that lifeless team to a tee.
during my lunch break i wanted to see what people were saying about Tomlin today. i had just enough time to click on one article by a sportswriter and this was it. after reading the title and first two paragraphs, i decided to charge this guy with plagiarism.
The best part of neither team wanting to win the game in the second half was the Steelers asking Trubitsky to launch a extremely low percentage deep.pass on 4th down rather than run the ball or attempt a high percentage short pass for the short 4th down conversion to continue their clock melting drive and go another 15 yards to attempt a game tying FG and force OT.
Tomlin should fire his OC and then himself for that nonsense

1000%.
i was going to touch on this, but i didn't want to turn a short novel into a long one. if you look up the definition of amateur hour, there should be a video of that play. 4th and 2 with the game on the line and they dialed up a deep route chuck from a quarterback who probably hadn't completed a pass half that long the entire game.
outstanding job by Tomlin and the coaching staff. i think it's time to talk contract extension

it is, and i was directing my posts more toward maywood than you.
i give Tomlin all the credit in the world for squeezing 7 wins out of 11 games with that squad to start the season, but unfortunately for him it's a fluid situation and his team just offset that 3-month accomplishment in 5 days........and probably ended their season as a result.
it's one thing to lose a game after emptying the tank, but anyone who has a functional set of eyes saw a team last night that thought they could just show up and beat the moribund Patriots. and that was the second time in less than a week that they had that look.
i doubt very seriously that anyone watched them against Arizona. well, i did. in the 2nd quarter the Steelers drove it inside the Cards' 10 and couldn't get in the end zone in 4 plays. then their defense turned right around and allowed Arizona to go 99 yards on 15 plays and they housed one. converted like 5 or 6 third downs along the way. then Arizona scored again. and again. and had another TD pass called back (holding). and had another pass dropped in the end zone. the final score was 24-10, but the Cardinals could have easily beaten them by 30 points. ARIZONA. not only did no one on either side of the ball for Pittsburgh manifest the propensity to make a play, but they truly acted like they didn't give a f*ck. i couldn't believe what i was watching. after that game i thought to myself, i bet i'll never see that type of pathetic effort again from a Mike Tomlin-coached team. then it happened again 5 days later. 😂 😂

no way this game gets to 30
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Trubisky looks like he's never thrown a football in his life
and to think my team drafted him with the second overall pick
gee i wonder why we've sucked forever
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
And just like that, Zappe has almost 200 yds. and 3 TDs at the half. Combined score 31 points..............
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
boy, was i wrong. they passed 30 before halftime
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
You, me and 78% of the betting public

They talk about this game was just over the freaking top, people who don't even know NFL were laughing about how bad this game was going to be, how it would end at 3-0 ect.. I joked about it as well but red flags on this under 30 were everywhere.
It was fitting that it would be a "high scoring" game, the fact that it went over in the first half then both teams came down to earth in the second half was laughable.
I really didn't think the Pats would win though, Pittsburgh fans must be furious
@2dueces said: I see a 9-6 game.
I honestly didnt think the Patriots would win either. I truly thought the only game they may win was against the Jets.
Pittsburgh wet the bed for sure
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
it really is amazing that they scored 3 first half TD's. Zappe was so much more poised and decisive than Back Foot Jones.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Ouch
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling.

C'mon, why are you taking a swipe at Zappe?... Don't you realize that If you put Zappe in that 49ers offense, they'd be 11-1, at least...

I don’t know where they spent their money but it sure doesn’t show
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling.

4th and 2 with the game on the line and they dialed up a deep route chuck from a quarterback who probably hadn't completed a pass half that long the entire game.
outstanding job by Tomlin and the coaching staff. i think it's time to talk contract extension

thank you Ryan freaking Clark, former Steeler

I’m not excluding Tomlin for his teams lack luster performance. I’m saying it’s an entire organization effort
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
it is, and i was directing my posts more toward maywood than you.
i give Tomlin all the credit in the world for squeezing 7 wins out of 11 games with that squad to start the season, but unfortunately for him it's a fluid situation and his team just offset that 3-month accomplishment in 5 days........and probably ended their season as a result.
it's one thing to lose a game after emptying the tank, but anyone who has a functional set of eyes saw a team last night that thought they could just show up and beat the moribund Patriots. and that was the second time in less than a week that they had that look.
i doubt very seriously that anyone watched them against Arizona. well, i did. in the 2nd quarter the Steelers drove it inside the Cards' 10 and couldn't get in the end zone in 4 plays. then their defense turned right around and allowed Arizona to go 99 yards on 15 plays and they housed one. converted like 5 or 6 third downs along the way. then Arizona scored again. and again. and had another TD pass called back (holding). and had another pass dropped in the end zone. the final score was 24-10, but the Cardinals could have easily beaten them by 30 points. ARIZONA. not only did no one on either side of the ball for Pittsburgh manifest the propensity to make a play, but they truly acted like they didn't give a f*ck. i couldn't believe what i was watching. after that game i thought to myself, i bet i'll never see that type of pathetic effort again from a Mike Tomlin-coached team. then it happened again 5 days later. 😂 😂
that's when HE became the real problem imo
