First time posting to this thread. I drank my coffee already so no picture of that but here is a coin I have a hard time putting down. The coin is graded 64+ but looks Gem to me!
Long before Starbucks, William and Edward Manning opened Manning's Coffee in 1908 at Seattle's Pike Place Market, complete with a roaster, and tokens for a cup of coffee:

Great addition! I wonder if Pike Place blend from Starbucks is a throwback to this merchant
Thanks! The Pike Place blend originates from the second Starbucks location, and their first location as a coffee cafe in 1976, at 1912 Pike Place in Seattle's famous tourist trap of the Pike Place Market. This is just a short walk from the original Manning's Coffee at 1519 Pike Place, which became Lowell's Restaurant in 1957. I don't think the Pike Place blend name was taken from Manning's Coffee, but you never know for sure.

Sipping my Hazelnut coffee this morning contemplating the arrival of a new piece from a Stacks auction. It's a 1928 quarter eagle, nothing fancy. Recently decided to collect these in OGH + CAC. Kind of a side project and it's nice to have a project that will be casually pursued.
Meanwhile, here's a 1927 sitting in the safe.

Couple cups in, having read about the new show in Nashville and a few texts with even more info' ... caught up on some of the news ... getting ready for a tailgate and game tonight with the local team.
I went to the folder of recent purchase images, and no matter what I do, this one really jumps out at me. Hard to believe I was fortunate enough to win her.
Last Sunday I turned another year older (although I don't feel it), and today I am grateful for all things in my world, including the chance to be this ones custodian for a while.

IMO, that is the finest 74-S. The reverse is perfection. Can I come over for coffee?
I like NGC's 1874-S plate coin because it's a rare DM (WB-5, R7) that even NGC is unaware of in their write-up of mintmarks and DMs for the date. It is the finest of the four WB5's I know of.
The worst one got away from me when I foolishly tried to negotiate a price on a $90 coin.
WB5 - one can tell by the arrow positioning that it is obverse 1.
I just love it when "Saturday morning coffee with coins" extends to Sunday. Must mean we're still having fun!
That's great info shared regarding those 1874-s Seated halves. There is so much info on a coin that collectors can delve into. Die marriage, mint mark position, die variety, etc. And let's not forget the historical context of each date! Really adds alot to collecting

@DCW Totally agree, and it's what makes this such a great place! @Barberian Thanks so much for the pics and info on a very rare variety! The 74-s is a really neat, and rarely discussed coin, probably because so few collector's have one! Yes, I'm just sipping coffee now, come on over, and I will roll out all the Barber's too! @Catbert Thanks Buddy, Happy Sunday! PS, I'm going to try to get @FlyingAl to snap a few shots, I'll post them.

Great! We could crack them out and play shuffleboard with them. Or maybe not.
Speaking of rare 74-S die marriages ... only two collectors own this one (WB4). I had just downloaded Bill Bugert's guides and this was one of the first DMs I identified. Instant thrilling coin discovery!
Great gold JWP!
Having a cup of my favorite coffee and took a pic of some random stuff on my coin desk that I haven’t put away yet. Happy Saturday, everyone!
Had to run over an pick this up at the FedEx. Just got home and enjoying the last of the coffee.
The top coin I found on the floor at the ANA this summer, and had @pnies20 walk over with me when I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy it. For those who don't follow Die Marriages closely, this is an R4+ Marriage, and is the second most difficult of the 20 different 1831's.

Wow! I’m glad he gave that one a sticker. Such an original coin.
1 and 1 this morning so nobody hurt but now, I'm back home and breaking out my toys Currently practice shooting and obsessing on how these might one day look at auction.
Comparatively, not as well as I expected but most of the "absolutely for sure"'s beaned. I am still studying to see if I got complacent, missed some issues, had an "ownership adds a point" problem, or learned anything new. I'll PM you when I get through everything if I learned anything worthwhile.

@FlyingAl Hmmm.... Proof dies, sharp rims, incredible strike for a 1921, and an atypical smooth, bag-mark free finish.....Just sayin.
What a beautiful original coin!

Thank you Big Guy! here’s the catalog entry from long ago now: they were right though, its the best one. Pop. 1/0. in 66+ CAC now.
Eldo. Am also enjoying examining the referenced planchette marks on the knee. Just adds more interest among many on the coin!
