Good day, ladies and gents! Beautiful day back in Jersey, hope it holds. Going to see my beloved New York Mets tonight. At the moment, Im drinking some Dominican coffee I brought home from vacation and reviewing this fantastic Bolen medal. It is thought to be the first depiction of the sport in medallic form.
Have a great Saturday, all!

"Coin collecting for outcasts..."
This 1882 SLH purchased off of eBay arrived this week (seller's photo).
Here's a scan of the coin with a kitten hair. It fails to capture the coin as badly as the seller's photos. The coin is a heavily toned and looks to have been polished a bit in the past, but I don't see any significant hairlines on the coin. It has developed nice color that is only partially captured in the seller's photos. The light polish bothered me initially but it's such a pretty coin in hand, has an outrageously low mintage (4,400), and is scarce in circulated grades so I'm glad I pounced on it. Not sure if it will straight grade, but with the right photos, it should easily sell itself.
So, I'm sipping some Sumatran, enjoying this coin among others, and pulling coins from my collection for my next grading submission. I just rediscovered a beautifully toned, raw VF30 1910-S Barber half that might have to go. It's under my
$200 market value cutoff but toning this nice should be worth a hefty premium. It's so nice that I'm gonna have to photograph it or scan it later.
Here is a scan edited to approximate the color on the coin. Close but the colors are more vivid in hand. You can see that I tried to add more orange to the obverse. It still doesn't capture the obverse color in hand.

Ain't no such grade. Did you mean VG10 or VF30?

Arggh! I made that mistake earlier because I was also looking at a VG10 1842-O small date LSH. Thanks!
Now that I posted the coin, you can grade it for yourself. I grade it at VF30.
It also has to go through an acetone dip first, so I hope the toning isn't an organic film and vanishes. I've seen coins change color with an acetone dip before.
I bought a whole ‘collection’ today. Spent quite a bit actually but I find it enjoyable telling folks what they have. This lot did have a nice half cent (1851) in AU and a little gold. Oddly, there was whole roll of 1932 quarters but D or S mints.
This one I called a fake and passed on. Hope I was right, just went with my gut.
1892 Indian Head Cent with a three leaf clover on both sides and I’ve looked and looked for another one but to no avail so I don’t know who the maker is but I like it!
Out in Pennsylvania for a soccer tournament, coffee in hand.
Mind drifting to this Lindenmueller Cent Civil War Token struck over a Standing Liberty Quarter that I missed out on when QDB was calling his collection:

I'm perusing my seated Liberty half and Barber half Dansco albums looking for coins worthy of grading. This 1892 is on the edge. It has some wiping on the cheek but otherwise shows no signs of cleaning. It also has colorful toning. Here are two versions of my scanner "TwoViews", now I need TrueViews to better capture the color.

Also, shout out to Josh @CIVITAS at CIVITAS Galleries for this coin. He said he doesn't post much here anymore, but Josh provided me with an outstanding coin at a very worthwhile price, and was absolutely great to work with. If you don't know him, check out his site and some of his coins.

Washing down some gold with a cup of Hazelnut.
You really nailed that one! That is a Great coin!
There is only one coin left in my 12 piece set that I want to upgrade…
It’s easily found, I’m just waiting for one that really talks to me, but I want a type one gold dollar, preferably 1853, in MS64.
Then my whole set will be 64 or higher, with the exception of two coins:
Type two dollar
Three dollar gold piece
Those are both AU58, but they’re very choice ones. Someday perhaps I might go with those in MS64 but that’s gonna be brutally expensive so to have those in AU58 is OK as far as I’m concerned.

I assume you mean "Seated Liberty Quarter".
If it were over-struck on a "Standing Liberty Quarter", that would be an entirely different circumstance.

This is a very nice coin, beautiful indeed and very rare; It is an African gold weight theme as well as West African Francophone unity piece:
Well, just Love coins, period.
Had my coffee on the road, but was dreaming of military tokens over a fine cup of Joe.
