cortney was fairly young(er) but had known health issues. while rovells vague click-bait wording leads to some sort of conspiracy theory that he was off’d or something, that simply is not true. i was unlucky enough to have a few dealings with cortney a couple of years back. he bought one of my 63 rose psa 9s back in 2016. then tried to attempt to purchase a 58 mantle 9. no need to stomp on a deceased individual, so will just leave it at that.

My memory failed. It was a text not an email - it is shown in the thread above my post. It is telling the seller to bid on their own DiMaggio card. This coupled with all I read on the trimming scandal caused me to avoid PWCC.

LOTS of comments here full of speculation and opinions from people who have most likely never used PWCC.
I cashed out when this news came out and my money is in my bank account this morning with no problem. I still have 6 figures worth of inventory in my PWCC Vault and I'm not worried about it at all.
Ebay is just bitter about PWCC's Premier Auction. Nothing more. It will be interesting to watch the legal action brought against them.
seems a bit naive to think Ebay would throw out baseless accusations with no evidence to back them up. seems as though that would be a clear case of libel.
I would be very very concerned about any amount of "assets" in that vault. I wont rehash the reasons. they are well listed above.
the Cortney thing is fairly old news. perhaps 2015 or 16? it predated the whole trimming thing. there were also posts from Betsy concerning the schilling activity. then both her and Brent clammed up when those texts came to light.
again, I just cannot understand why anyone would conduct business with such people.

A GREAT job on building the work bench! Simple construction but well made, very sturdy, perfect size! I built all my workshop benches too, and very similar. No works of art but functional and the perfect sizes needed for the spaces to fill.
I’ve consigned to PWCC and had a opposite experience lol some of my super rare cards ended way low to the point I felt it was being suppressed, just to see them pop up with heritage months later and go for thousands more. No joke.

"Old news" that it is banned ?
"Old news" that shills are predominate use in the market(s)?
"Old news" meaning, as long as "i" am not effected who cares?
Thoughts, these people or these types of people who misrepresent, have and will always do this. Been going on for centuries in just about every marketable genre. Is it right? No. Does it happen, more often than it doesn't? Yes. Will it be curtailed? Most likely not. Most people are looking for an edge, circumvent the system, game the game. The likely outcome for this PWCC event, the powers that be, will tout their disdain, disbelief, their "wont condone" such behavior, plausible deniability. Why because there will always be rats in the woodwork and the rats might even be at the top, currently? Who knows? And for the people who predominantly do their due diligence, tow the line, will be screwed but they will keep their integrity something these theives, liars, grifters will never have or know what it is.
The end game will be a fine, the money to be paid will come from the already blatant over charged in their coffers and accessible. They will be persona-non-grata for 2 years and business as usual in two weeks. Old news. they were right. who cares? Do your due dilgence and trust no-one especially an athlete, just ask the guy who was working for the Angels baseball team, who was recently "let go."
I would bet the premium from being in a PSA holder would usurp that of SGC with a PWCC sticker all else equal. It’s a gorgeous card and I would not hesitate crossing it but the majority here I’m sure would say crack it first.

Mike,
I think it’s a beautiful card regardless of the holder. Personally, I would crack it and send it for encapsulation in a PSA holder because I would want it in their holder. I think that card would have a good chance at PSA 7 or even better as it is sharp, crisp and clear.

There are people who will put a premium on PWCC stickers and there are those that won’t. That’s been the case and will continue to be the case.
That card needs no stickers. It’s centering is off on the front (narrow above 1968 rookie stars) but the back centering is awesome as a result; not knocking that stunning card - just an idea of why it’s a 7.
There are some that are perfectly centered on both front and back but they are rare as could be…

It’s a beautiful card and good luck with whatever you decide to do.
JMHO I would leave it alone. This is based on my own crossover attempts with PSA this year, I have 0% success on cards that I was 99% sure of. So either I’m not good at this anymore (30 years of being good) or PSA has become difficult on crossovers.

I have never been able to cross a card grade-for-grade from SGC to PSA over the last decade.
Personally the sticker makes me run away. I feel PWCCs altering followers also run because it seems to be a mark or a wink about the card. Good looking card but like others have said make sure every spec of that card is examined.
I've returned a couple PSA graded cards back to PWCC for full refund based on evidence etc. I've also had a few PWCC auctioned cards that I bought that were called out then respectively examined by PSA and the grade held. I also bought a card back from PWCC that I returned as a test to have PSA review and they deemed the card was fine. I challenged PSA based upon evidence presented and they swore it was fine and will stand behind it for the long term. Is PWCC an angel, HELL NO!!, but to assume that every card PWCC sells is tampered with is a stretch. If you assume that, than you must assume every PSA, SGC and Beckett card is worthless and taint.

Interesting that some percentage feel that the sticker carries the opposite of a premium - like a stigma. Will be interesting to see how they go in the future - particularly without the PWCC sales platform.

I have had some good experiences buying undergraded cards that were PWCC-stickered. For example, I cracked and sent in a 7 that was given a sticker and it came back an 8. (I still think it is undergraded and should be an 8.5 all day.)
There were always undergraded cards floating around out there, and some still are. Of course with the backlog at PSA and increased grading costs, the crack-resub game is not something I've done in a long while and won't be doing anytime soon.
I was never a fan of the PWCC stickers in that they hung a lantern on cards that were previously so much easier to win at auction, but there's no denying it was a smart business move to bring the eye appeal premium into the hobby mainstream. Today we constantly see cards in Grade X outsell cards in Grade X++ if the eye appeal is there, and that buying of the card is certainly a good thing.
@80sOPC - I don't talk to Brent about cards anymore. I did buy a rare card from PWCC last night though that is Graded by PSA. I primarily collect PSA cards and BBCE unopened and rely on them to be accurate as I am not an expert in their areas.
In regards to some of the discussion above, PSA upholding a grade in the face of evidence of doctoring is a very murky area. On one hand, sure, I can see armchair sleuths being wrong. On the other, an entity having the power to absolve itself makes it very easy to sweep mistakes under the rug.
@80sOPC - would you trust PSA if they said a Moser or otherwise altered identified card was not altered and they stand behind the card as PSA correctly graded?
