LOTS of comments here full of speculation and opinions from people who have most likely never used PWCC.

I cashed out when this news came out and my money is in my bank account this morning with no problem. I still have 6 figures worth of inventory in my PWCC Vault and I'm not worried about it at all.

Ebay is just bitter about PWCC's Premier Auction. Nothing more. It will be interesting to watch the legal action brought against them.

Probably smart for PWCC if they avoid attracting additional legal and then federal attention But I do hope PWCC takes action as it will be "fun to watch". At minimum for PWCC it legal action will cost them a bundle and at most it could lead to sentencing if they are found to committed felony fraud.

The one thing that raised my eyebrows in this thread is that many actually keep their valuable collectibles in a vault that they have no physical real world access to at a moments notice. YIKES.

If you're planning on selling a card at any point, having it curated in the vault is a great option. Once it's in there, it can be sent to auction/fixed listing at any time. You also have the ability to make a private deal and ship the card to the buyer.

The super rich, guys with more money than blurryface , have been using tax free free ports to store art, gold, etc for a long time now. The Vault is not a new concept, it's just the free port for upper middle class/average rich collectors. I was about to send in a stack to take advantage of the FREE VAULT promo, but the Grading Gods looked kindly upon me and delayed a shipment one day. That one day made a world of difference between me chillin versus sweatin' like a pig.

I will never complain about turnaround times again!

there will be none. i can assure you brent and pwcc are terrified of the discovery phase. this is what is referred to as karma. he’s got no play simply because of his past transgressions that he will never want brought to light. attempting to sue anyone and exposing himself to a deposition completely blows that door straight off the hinges.

And you know all of this how? Please give us a hint of your ability to access inside information like this.

i dont hit my golf ball off the cart path. why? because there is a rule stating i dont have to. and it makes sense to use that rule or any rule for that matter to ones advantage. i didnt write the rules. i just play by them. the other fundamental rule in conjunction with all of this is that its not about how much one makes. its what they keep.

I agree that there is zero chance PWCC gets in a legal battle with eBay. eBay would smother them and discovery would be a nightmare, for both parties.

I have no inside info, but do understand large corps and how they manage risk. And this feels to me like de-risking. Possibly related to the reported ongoing FBI investigation.

The idea that eBay took this action because PWCC is moving off their platform doesn't make a lot of sense. If they are worried about revenue attrition, doesn't make much sense to force that attrition to happen sooner. They clearly don't care about the income that PWCC is generating, they must have the risk in keeping the relationship sized at multiples of the income it generates.

My hope..... this is signal that the investigation is proceeding and possibly coming to a conclusion.

This whole mess is like choosing which STD you want to cheer for. For all of PWCC's transgressions, what ebay did to the Steiners was 100x worse. I have a hard time giving them any credit.

In the end, I think we will all win as hobbyists. More options to buy and sell are always good for the consumer. I hope PWCC's marketplace and every other ebay competitor does well.

So again which STD do you cheer for?

One already got sentenced. Real time in federal prison, not fake prison. This is why I have a hard time believing anything ebay says.

    https://www.reuters.com/world/us/former-ebay-employee-gets-18-months-prison-abominable-cyberstalking-campaign-2021-07-27/

    From CBS News:
According to federal prosecutors, eBay executives became upset with negative coverage of the company on the EcommerceBytes website, and became convinced that some anonymous commenters on the blog were colluding with the Steiners. Executives texted among themselves about the need to "take her down" and "burn her to the ground."

One of those execs is allegedly former CEO Devin Wenig

It will be curious to see the results from the first PWCC website monthly auction of “common” cards in the $100-$5000 range. To my knowledge this has never been done on a non-eBay site. I am curious what the volume will look like and so on.

I will personally be looking on there to see if there are any good buys.

  • so someone suddenly passed away after being involve with the shilling ? wtf

  • I never understood why PWCC auctions final bidding seemingly towered above the final bidding of exactly the same graded slab. Now I know. Not like they do not have negative feedback...93 negatives in one month should be lowering their final auction bids. What a farce! I may sell considerably less, but I take pride in all my 240+ listings and 100% positive feedback since 1999.

eBay is going to lose big on this. PWCC is a name that despite scandals will continue to get big $$$ in sales and now eBay is in the cold. eBay lost me as a seller due to ridiculous policies over a year ago and I am not going back no matter how many emails they send me, but I do not matter in the slightest to their bottom line. This will hurt bad. Really bad. They are quickly becoming my last option to buy cards and now they just lost their biggest seller of sports cards. eBay wanted to be Amazon and now they are going to be on the outside looking in on what was one their strongest categories.

How do you figure it's going to hurt "bad. Really bad." for Ebay?

Ebay has revenues of $10.2B a year. PWCC apparently does about $150m in sales on Ebay annually. Even if Ebay got the full 10% feel off of that, that's only $15m in revenue for Ebay. Or roughly 0.1% of their total revenue. You think they're going to miss that at all, let alone "really bad"?

And how many of the 150 million in sales will still end up on eBay but through a different seller ?? I would take the over on Half....

yes. thats the thing about those snowballs rolling down hill. they start really, really small. then they get really, really big very, very fast. plus, 15 million will always be missed. david went down. blockbuster went down, lucent mci went down. ebays days are numbered one way or another. it wont be pwcc that brings them down, rather their own ego , reluctance to adapt and mainly for their downright outlandishly stupid changes they make that only push the platform backwards vs into the future. heck, their app has been dated since the day it came out.

This is basically what I am getting at. They are losing ground in so many other categories besides cards. I am in automotive and Amazon and Rock Auto are killing eBay which once had a large share with eBay motors that continues to diminish.

What are you talking about eBay has grown each year in revenue for the last 20 years except 3 times and those years they where basically equal to the year before. Everyone checks ebay for pricing on just about everything, they may not always get the sells but they always get the eyeballs....
