Interestingly, he preferred playing for a nuclear power plant owner over a shipping magnate. Even with the constant criticism of his sideburns!

Pulled 5 2014 Allen & Ginter cards of Dave Portnoy out of my commons box and some quick sales later turned them into Mr. Soto. And of course I had to get the "full W" @blurryface keeps harping on because once you see it there's no going back.

Alworth has some great cards I love this one the RC and the 68. The 65 is a little weird because it makes his head look huge

I guess I can share some other recent pickups now and the card that started it all. First, I don't even recall why @blurryface sent me the original dime. I know I did something and had mentioned the special place The Gambler held and still does in my heart, but it was totally above and beyond. I recall him mentioning if I ever saw one available again, just to make him aware and he'd be more than happy to get the set back to complete. There was a recent graded set break, minus the Jordan, and well, I won some and I lost some, but I had a nuclear bid on the card above. No one was topping it. Anyway, long ramble to get to my other winnings and the card that started it all ...

They look so nice together. A huge thanks and shout out again to @blurryface for being one of the best!

it's crazy bc i had "1991 kenny rogers psa" listed in my saved searchs. a bgs one surfaced not too long ago and was pondering going after it. shot a lowball offer on it but solely bc w/ wait times, i didnt want to go thru the whole crossover scenario. i figured a psa one would show up and the competition wouldnt necessarily been stiff on it. im kinda confused how i missed this one now. was it on ebay?

Show me a bar with a good lookin’ woman
Then just get outta my way
    Turn on the jukebox
I'll show you a song you should play
Sooner or later, a few shots of bourbon
I'll think of something to say
Oh, I can take her or leave her
But I'd like to take her away
Liquor and music, a good combination
If you got love on the brain
I never knew two women who acted the same
    And some wanna drink first
Some wanna just sit and talk
Oh, it's two in the morning
I'm running and she wants to walk

You have to account for misspellings in your eBay search, something like 'rodgers' ;)

Mike I always love those pickups reminds me of my childhood !!
A couple more Brady scanned. Gonna take me a while to get it all scanned hours changed on my secure storage and instead of some late night visits at 7 or 8 pm before work now its 6:30 am on my two off days.
And I have a couple thousand more sitting in whatever they are using for bins at PSA waiting
Been mixing in Brady with some other PC items and resale stuff.
Thanks to PSA for sending me the mislabel return so quick so i could get the 03LCM label fixed

was going thru a bin of purchases. i typically just get everything sent to the office and when my bin gets close to being full, ill go in and go thru them all in one sitting. with that being said, i dont really examine the outside of the boxes/padded pack and just go straight into the ripping and the tearing. anyways, i got a big smile on my face on this one for several reasons. a: the card and it's content. b: it wasnt a purchase c: the card has history between @LarkinCollector and myself.

for those not familar w/ the set, its pretty rare and includes a wide range of "golfers". on top of the gambler, it also includes cards of randy quaid, maury povich to name some of the other obscurities. few of the other notables this set includes are mark rypien, john elway and the crown jewel...michael jordan!

i had the full set at one point and was missing one card. after several years, my set is now complete thanks to our own larkincollector. timing couldnt have been more perfect for the surprise, so thank you!

I worked at Lake Tahoe the summers from 1992-1995. I remember going to a small card shop in Reno in 1992, and the owner had a small stack of these. He gave me a boxed complete set. I kept it for a while and then a few years later in my ignorance, sold it for enough money to buy a pizza.

Great card! I'm partial to the 63 Fleer and 67 Topps, though I've chased them all at one point or another.

For the past 15+ yrs, my main focus has been BB board games.

Now, I know this kind of stuff garners very little "love" on a predominantly card forum but I just had to share.

I bought this card game many years ago - Star Baseball Game, Wm. P. Ulrich (owner of the minor league team - The Spokane Indians - which I believe still exists today - at one time they were a AAA PCL team?)

Best we can tell? The game is complete at 56 cards.

Fast forward to this week and I came across a "board" to a game I didn't know existed for the card gameI owned!

    A great find indeed.

The fact that it comes in the original packaging? A bonus for any board game collector.

Nice find Mike. We know how much you love your board games. That is a crazy collection you have amassed with them. Have you ever taken a photo of all of them at one time?

Having seen the size of some of Mikes games- that would likely need an auditorium to handle methinks :o

Last 4 Brady scans and moving on to my other PC stuff these are heading to my bank lockbox back east. Already got that express overnite package out should be there any minute now. On to my Nomar PC scans now.

Beautiful Brady’s; they’re going to make your other cards better, too.

The mention of Nomar reminds that I have about six million dollars in unclaimed funds from college on Jeter-Nomar futures bets; man, I gotta get on FaceBook...😂

A wonderful mail day made possible by the well timed return of a PSA submission and a new pickup. The two cards from PSA were scooped and sent in November; I wasn’t going to fool around with either one. Each is for sets that I continue to chip away at and each is a very exceptional copy, for their assigned and accurate grades. (I think, anyway.)

Last, but certainly not least, I'll start by saying that I am going with the 'PSA Name' for this one. When you are trying to add the greatest baseball legend of all time to your collection, you sometimes must look out of the normal purview and get a little creative. Some cool stuff? It is already checklisted by name (though the name does not appear anywhere on the card) and it appears as card number 60 in the series (I know, right?) plus I believe the image itself is from Japan in 1934. If I should send it to PSA for slabbage, it would be #2, though I am pretty sure SGC has encapsulated a few as well.

c1930s Indiana Sport Avion #60 Babe Ruth

    You have impeccable taste.

Well I'll take all the jeter/Nomar combo cards ya got Tim I have both PSA & BGS registries of Nomar :D
Speaking of just got these back as well. They switched labels on the Leaf Limited- sent back and they fixed
Knew they were at best 8's but they all hold sentimental value to me
Been carrying the other two around since I pack pulled. I have more but PSA has to add the items to the composites first

@blurryface - I think I may be done buying Luka. I have 2 I think. It's fun to speculate a little. Just cringing at the prices of cards now that I sold in December. An PSA 10 Orange Chrome Durant sold for $115K or so last night to add to the sting. Beer helps numb the sting.

i can't blame you one bit. only luka i'm holding is stuff pulled.

per the sales, you know you can't look back. and i know you. i guarantee you it wasn't a fire sale. to add more credit, i know and respect your taste. you didn't take that money and buy scratch-offs and pork rinds. you rolled it into something else just as pimp which will pay dividends and look like a no brainer at a later date. crack that rear view mirror now.

so seeing as every purchase made in this hobby now results in a 10 bagger before month end, i figure i'd park some spondoolicks on a unicorn box with tiger's image plastered on it

looking forward to my new maserati this summer..........i'll let you guys know if the back seat works

Bo knows, do we know if they will still duel grade it with the sticker on back? If so I should keep the cert or send in as well? Just pulled this 90 Jordan from a delivered pack today. Black splotches by nameplate are on the holder. Looks minty??

Yes, they will still dual grade and no deduction for authentication stickers on the back. Enclose the CoA in a separate CS1 and it will get returned to you with your order when complete.
