Now home from Newport Beach, I’m kicking off this months pickup thread with an item that slips nicely into my collection. It took some time to find it, some time to ID it and some time to submit the research. The end result is a beautiful piece that can be described with four wonderful words:
First graded, Mickey Mantle.
Let’s see what the good folks of CU landed this month!!!!

Connor got another 5 points last night and has 22 points in 11 games...... I wish Edmonton could play defense.
1/1 on card gold ink auto (no sticker) RC I picked up last month.
Grabbed an 8
Excited about this pick-up. Was browsing Bench RCs when it was listed and I moved quickly to make a deal with the seller before someone else saw the card and pulled the trigger.
I love seeing your addition each month! So many cool Yankees items that are rarely seen.
That’s just about the nicest thing you can say to a fellow collector; thank you sincerely.

I have a few copies of this card and yours looks short, left to right. You may want to check this against another card when you get it in hand. I hope I'm wrong.
Brian
It's good, I think. I measured with a digital caliper and I've held it up to other 1968s that I have slabbed and it is actually slightly larger than a few of those, for what it's worth.
'tne' variation to boot, nice pickup.
Kobe on Attack - Shaq got his Back!!
Bambi One of the best receivers to ever play.
I collect hall of fame rookie cards, https://www.instagram.com/stwainfan/
Another towards the HHOF collection:
Main collecting focus is Patrick Roy playing days 85/86-02/03, expect 1/1, National/All-Star stamped cards.PC Completion: 2,548/2,952; 86.31% My Patrick Roy PC Website:https://proy33collector.weebly.com
Here is my latest pickup. I wish that the centering were a little better left to right. It measures 58/42 side to side and 55/45 top to bottom using a 1/100 inch scale. Of course...it doesn't come close to Chris' psa-10 dead-centered beauty...but it will suffice.
Super excited to pick up an uncut Star Wars Burger Chef Darth Vader game. I had a rough set of the cards, it’s really neat to have the original “unopened” version.
Love the centering, hate the fisheyes.........
Investor lots seem to be a thing.
Thought it would be fun to try instead of buying 0.1928 shares of GOOG (Google doesn't pay a dividend neither)
In at $74 a Maddux share. Trending @ $100
Can't keep my hand off the mouse.
Continuing with the Junk theme.
Order placed last night w/4SC
A dead centered Gretzky and some 86 Kodak Mario’s.
Please point out the variation. I tried to Google but no luck. Thanks.
For my Bears HOF collection; Payton from my childhood collection, Blanda from eBay.
First line of text under Johnny on the back, 'tne Reds' vs. 'the Reds'. PSA only recently started recognizing, so the Pop Report is pretty skewed, but I've seen estimates of 1/3 'tne' vs 2/3 'the'.
ETA: There was a thread several years back on N54 discussing it: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=199836
@Chicago1976 awesome Blanda. Is your Bears HOF set a registry set? If so, I’d love a link to check it out. I’m doing the same for the Patriots.

Also collecting Andre Tippett, Patriots Greats' RCs, Dwight Evans, 1964 Venezuelan Topps, 1974 Topps Red Sox
I've been hunting this tobacco display for almost 2 decades. It usually goes for way too much - at the National a few years back Hunt Auctions had one for sale @ $950!
It also came with an "open" empty pack but I already had a full pack that I picked up years ago.
The display is 10.5" tall - the booklets are like "notepads" with some players in the back with bio's.
I do have a variation to the notebook - which is slightly smaller and sans the bio's in the back.
Besides Nellie and Luis the list includes:
Ralph Hook
Dick Donovan
Tito Francona
Harvey Kuenn
Jim Lemon
Bill Mazeroski
Glenn Nelson
Roy McMillan
Norm Van Brocklin (FB)
Alex Webster (FB)
Tom Tracy (FB)
Bill George (FB)
Frank Thomas
Pumped to have these in hand or on the way...
Sax - 1982 NL ROY, 2x WS champ, 5x all star, silver slugger
Marshall - All Star, WS champ
Roenicke - 2x WS champ and really not that good of a manger for my Brewers.
1989 NL MVP, WS Champ, 2x all star, silver slugger, HR and RBI leader

Thanks DBesse27. It is not a registry set. Just something my son and I are attempting. Early stages, may post it at some point.
I caught a Catfish.
I collect hall of fame rookie cards, https://www.instagram.com/stwainfan/
The Catfish RC got me "hooked" on vintage rookies back in '86.
Oldest card in my kid collection. 1965, wow that's old!
Careful son. April 1965 is when I entered this crazy world. My mom said I was a bit off centered.
i know palmeiro may not make the hall but i finally took the plunge and got one of his rookies. maybe i will get a topps next.
i also picked this one up last week. i cannot believe that this only graded a six. the bottom two corners are just dinged but the centering is really great. the baines is the last hall of famer for my graded desert shield set.
My submission but this is the only one ever graded by PSA and it is a Nagurski from the 1930s so that's nice!
Looking to BUY n332 1889 SF Hess cards and high grade cards from 19th century especially. "Once you have wrestled everything else in life is easy" Dan Gable
MJ rookie, baseball style. His “career” only lasted about a year. For picking it up as late as he did, I was impressed.

Just got all these in from a large deal I have been working on
Griffey mania to be in full swing. I'm all for it.
Waiting on a bunch more '89s.
Classic junk era design; Arrived today:
That is a nice looking Sonny Jurgensen. Congrats that is one nice haul!!!
a nice prospect in the other football .......in his rookie Salzburg Kit....
@DM23HOF .... it seems you have transitioned to quantity over quality......lol.... your collection that I can tell is that of a fine archeologist. Inspiring !!
Junk wax has some value. I think we need to coin a new phrase. Someone smarter than me should think of one.
Love the JR!

Thanks! I agree. Junk isn't fair!
Late 80s/early 90s HOF guys are gaining in popularity.
From Maddux to Thomas & Piazza.
On the way... Don't belch during a Paul Brown meeting...
Trying to upgrade my Eck. One of the nicest Raw ones I’ve come across.

Rookie card era.
Fun times chasing all the good rookies.
Was cut & dry what the RCs were.
I bailed out of the hobby around '97/'98, was getting too confusing what to collect.
Nice pick up. I hope he signs with Bayern in a few years. Speaking of Bayern, just picked up this true rookie. Released a few years before his 2007 panini sticker.
Just got this one today.
