Great looking proof Buff, Joe! Do you do anything to diffuse your lights when imaging proofs?
Nope. I use daylight bulbs and set my white balance. I’ve been photographing coins this way for years. No need to defuse. Once you get your white balance set with a (Grey Card) you can now adjust your aperture and shutter speed. I shoot in manual mode because it gives me total control over what my camera does. I get good results and it’s not as tough as it sounds. The trick is to have an (SLR) a Single Lens reflex camera box and attach it to a macro lens. This is how I shoot.
Thank you for the kind words about my imaging. It means a lot to me,
Joe
Thank you.
Your post inspired me and I just got myself a slightly used AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G lens for my ancient Nikon D3100 because my son took my Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera stating that he has better use of it than me.
The lens arrived and I tested it out yesterday in daylight trying to click pics of the end of WW II ASE/medal, but quite honestly, feel that there is so much for me to learn because my photography skills are indeed pretty terrible.
I have a little bit of a thing for die-variety Lincoln cents, and I've always liked the wartime steel cents (used to be pretty common in change when I was a kid).
My first MS-65 Morgan Dollar! And one that I was missing.Getting there very slowly.Gezzz! All the tougher dates take some time.Don’t think I will ever get them all, just most.Still fun anyway.
I assume "Selective gold plating" and "Space printing" means someone took an original coin, and uh, "improved it"? Is that what this is?
Yes. They used a one-ounce Canadian silver Mapleleaf.

Been wanting to pick up one of these ever since I saw it flipping through the redbook when I first started getting into the hobby when I was 8. My first CAC approved coin also.

@Floridafacelifter amazing Stella in the type set there.
Got this for my 1964 proof set. The holder has a lot of scratches, but it's a really nice coin.

Not as amazing or rare as many of these beautiful coins, but my VG8 version of this cool die variety needed an upgrade.
Thank you.

My first Rattler:
Definitely looks to be under-graded by today's standards, it could possibly grade as a 65 or 66 if resubmitted.

From what I can see here in the pic you provided I’ve got to agree it appears to be at least a 65.
Nice score.
An upgrade.

An addition to my MS V nickel Registry set. My goal is all MS64/64+, so I will upgrade it later (it's a 62), but I like the obverse die crack.

From dentils down between T3 and E2 to B. From dentils to top serif of F at right across wing tip towards A2. Fine die cracks?
That does appear to be a die crack from the F to the A on the Reverse.
This thing is hammered with full detail both obverse and reverse. I would be willing to bet with a covered label some would give her a 62/63 grade.

On its way to me - 1911 Great Britain proof set in original case. 1/2 crown to penny. Bit of a gamble based on images.
