@Catbert I agree with you. They look like they have seen a lot of history used in commerce, but pulled out of circulation while there is still plenty of meat on the bone. There is nothing better IMO, than seeing a 7070 album full of coins with that consistent theme.
Oh boy.. real 3rd party TPG here, but then once in hand it will be off to pcgs or ngc for a proper grade and slab...
definitely bought the coin and not the plastic this time lol....
I'm getting my collection ready for Halloween with this piece. My most recent acquisition. It's a very rare 1805 medal by Friedrich Loos. It commemorates Dr. Franz Joseph Gall, the creator of the pseudo science of phrenology.
I added these two to my MS64 V nickel collection yesterday. The 1889 has a super solid strike, which is one of the primary things I look for in this series since many are not well struck. The 1909 is what I would call a "95%" strike since all stars are well formed, and the left corn ear is complete but the individual corn kernels are hard to make out.
1973-S CLAD PCGS PR70DCAM Eisenhower Dollar (Thomas Cleveland) POP=1/0
Clad proof Ikes of 73-S, 74-S and 76-S are quite rare in high grade and nearly impossible to locate in 70.
That is a nice looking coin. But something about the look of it causes me concerns (counterfeit).
While you still have a potential time window to return it, you might want to seek out a professional authentication.
Do you think it has an embossed mintmark? I'd like to see a close up pic of the edge at the mintmark location.
No, I suspect the whole coin is a counterfeit. But I would need a closer examination.

Great looking proof Buff, Joe! Do you do anything to diffuse your lights when imaging proofs?
Nope. I use daylight bulbs and set my white balance. I’ve been photographing coins this way for years. No need to defuse. Once you get your white balance set with a (Grey Card) you can now adjust your aperture and shutter speed. I shoot in manual mode because it gives me total control over what my camera does. I get good results and it’s not as tough as it sounds. The trick is to have an (SLR) a Single Lens reflex camera box and attach it to a macro lens. This is how I shoot.
Thank you for the kind words about my imaging. It means a lot to me,
Joe
Thank you.
Your post inspired me and I just got myself a slightly used AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G lens for my ancient Nikon D3100 because my son took my Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera stating that he has better use of it than me.
The lens arrived and I tested it out yesterday in daylight trying to click pics of the end of WW II ASE/medal, but quite honestly, feel that there is so much for me to learn because my photography skills are indeed pretty terrible.

I think that coin depicts his natural hair color. Does that slab have a button you press somewhere where his voice tells you the election was stolen?

When I hear the numismatic adjective of “wholesome” used for coins, this coin is a great representative. Wonderful!
Edited to add: along with that 1839 half dime shown earlier!

From what I can see here in the pic you provided I’ve got to agree it appears to be at least a 65.
