@MtnCreek29 , good looking half dime. Looks to be an LM2, somewhat early die state. Not super early as the big obverse die crack is visible but lots of the other degradations on both dies have yet to appear on your example.

    I have one too!
Mine has a lower number, 69 of 440.

    Beautiful coin!
    ;)
Maybe we should start a thread on these?
    :*

Nice Joey. Do you have the rest of the set? The one I sniped was posted with the dollar coin and the reverse proof in different listings but very close ending times. I watched the Rpf go for $40 and the dollar went for $39.90 ish. Both in FR 70. The proof is usually the tricky one to get at a bargain. But $31 is really an amazing price.
Kinda cool that we have coins from the same numerical series. Little jealous yours is a lower number 😁

Too bad PCGS doesn't recognize this variety

I’m sure PCGS would label it as “improperly annealed” or something similar if submitted under the error tier. Calling it a “black beauty” is just a gimmick. And I would add that calling it an “improper alloy mix”, as ANACS has done, is misleading, as it would imply an incorrect alloy prior to rolling/blanking, whereas this nickel likely had a properly “mixed” alloy at that stage of production.

Yours is a particularly nice one.

@GoldenEgg I like the "Black Beauty" it may be a gimmick, but it got me. It's my second one, the other is MS64. Got me twice, shame on you ANACS!
