So far, PSA has been N9'ing the 1996 Sported! set even though they grade the 1997 set. I'm still waiting & hoping for consistency to catch on with that one and looking forward to seeing the 1996 ones slabbed soon.
The checklist for the 1996 set is readily available and they've got it on file. Some modern pop-ups that are still being graded by PSA that come to mind (I've got some of these) include the following sets:
So, I guess it doesn't make sense that 1996 Sported!/Match! being pop-ups format would be the reason why they haven't started grading them yet?
It's got something to do with the way they pop up with the pull tabs and not being just a flat front and back card, it's three (?) separate layers of cardboard on the 96 Sported!. Have you seen a complete list for the 97s of which are perforated vs dashed line? I know of three so far available in both varieties, but haven't been able to find an image of any sheets. It's made quite a mess of the pop report with perforated cards noted as 'Hand Cut' on the flips.
You're probably on to something there for the 1996's.
For the 1997's, yes, agreed, the pop report is inaccurate due to the hand-cut vs. perforated designations. I have handled a lot of these items, and I don't recall seeing any of them available in both types, though there probably are some. Also, as I'm betting you're aware, there were two sizes of perforations (not two sizes of cards, but rather, two sizes of the actual perforation cuts).
Regardless of mistakes in labeling that may have made their way into the population report, the hand-cut ones include:
Michael Jordan
Dennis Rodman
Evander Holyfield
Prince Naseem Hamed
Anna Kournikova
David Beckham
Ryan Giggs
Alan Shearer
I could be wrong, but I believe all the rest of them are perforated.

Harry Agganis was a star QB for Boston U, who passed up professional football to be the starting 1st baseman for the Red Sox in 1954 and 1955. In June of ‘55, he got pneumonia, seemed to have recovered, and then died of a pulmonary embolism at the age of 26. This card is from the 1956 Gum Inc. Adventure set:
Here's a 91 Fleer Wheaties MJ. It was my first attempt at hand-cutting a card and unfortunately didn't think of the back when cutting it. I ended up cutting inside the back border but I'd be happy with this someday sitting in an authentic slab as-is.
This is a card that I got signed earlier this year through a private signing. I purchased the nicest PSA 8 on eBay at that time and I cracked it out and sent it off to get signed. I just love the way it came out.

For a little tiny while, The Great One was signing through the mail at a private address. Those days seem to be over but I was able to get him a few times and out of the 6 cards I got signed by him, this was by far my favorite. I just love the way it came out. Sure, the jersey is black but he still signed in blue and the card managed to come back in the condition I sent it in. Then sent it to PSA and now I have it in a holder.
