Happy 84th Birthday Lindy McDaniel! First reliever to receive a Cy Young vote! Two time reliever of the year and two years in a row ('59-'60) he led the league in saves AND pitched a complete game!
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
Happy Birthday HOF'er Craig Biggio! 54 already! The first player ever to be thrown out during his 3000th hit. He is also the only player to have 3000 hits, 250 homers, 600 doubles and 400 steals. Not bad for a catcher! First player to be an All-Star at catcher and 2B! Started at catcher in his second to last game!
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
prolly not a SS, 1 owner for 51 years tho
Custom Camaro was one of the first cars released in the 1968 Hot Wheels line-up.The "Original 16" or Sweet Sixteen" were released in spring of '68. This casting was One of the First in the line-up. Chevrolet had just released a new model during the design stages of the Hot Wheels car, it was the 1967 Camaro. So Harry made one too. It
seems both would be a big hit.
Happy 90th Birthday Ray! Twenty game winner one year and led AL in shutouts in another. He was a .500 pitcher with an ERA under 4.00 going in to his last year. He went 2-5 with a 4.29 and shot that all up.
Shoutout to Eddie Robinson who turned 99 today and is oldest living MLB player.

Born this day in Cuba in 1939, "Zippy Zee" was the 1965 A.L. MVP by a landslide. Then his career fell off the cliff resulting in one of the worst regular seasons in MLB history (1967). After winning the MVP award his career and life went spiraling downwards until he died in 1995.
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
Happy Birthday 85th birthday eighteen time All Star, HOF'er and youngest batting champion ever ...Al Kaline! Finished top ten in the MVP voting NINE times. Over 50 years in Detroit organization. Finished with 399 homers...ugh.
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
Happy 70th Birthday Cecil Celester (!) Cooper! I th 1972 Red Sox would have played Cecil in stead of Danny Cater they would have won the A.L. East! Instead he led the league in hits in the minors .Similar hitters are Mattingly, Dave Parker, Steve Garvey, Will Clark all possible Hall Of Famers. Five time All Star, two silver sluggers and two gold gloves. Does anybody remember him managing?
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
Happy 71st Birthday Kong! The first player in the 400 homer club not in the HOF. Still holds the record for longest home run at Wrigley field (est. 550 ft.) . Hit 36 home runs in 1975 but scored only 65 runs! Received the biggest check of all players in the collusion case of 1987. Kingman started only 18 games at Fenway Park in his career. He hit 13 home runs.
64 times in his career, a pitcher/manager intentionally walked someone in front of Dave Kingman. In those 64 plate appearances Kingman hit .407 with 11 home runs.
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
Haven't posted here for a bit so I'll go with this 88 Basket 16 for today. PSA has only graded a total of 10 stickers from this set and this is the only slabbed copy of this #12 MJ.
Born on this day in 1938, Matty averaged 196 hits during a 6 year span, won a batting title, never hit below .330 for 4 straight years and in his only pitching appearance, he struck out 3 in two scoreless innings including Willie Stargell twice!
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
Born on this day in 1941. First Rookie of the Year to win a Gold Glove (1962)! Afraid of flying so became a pilot to cure his fear and bought a Cessna. Him and his friend died in that plane on February 12, 1964. He was 22. Tragic story.
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
Happy 68th Birthday John D'Acquisto! One of the first hurlers to break 100 mph on a radar gun (102.4!) Thought he would be a Giants star for years but ended up playing for six teams in ten years.
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
A salute to the little guy! Never got a real chance but always had nice stats. How do you hit .065 and have an OB of .370? His brother had a Field Of Dreams career with just one pinch running appearance!
Tallulah Bankhead — 'There have been only two geniuses in the world. Willie Mays and Willie Shakespeare.'
Born this day in 1949 in Atlanta, "The Hammer" was third in Rookie of the year voting in 1972 and played post season ball for every team he played for. He was the hammer because he looked like Hammerin' Hank of the Braves. Probably most famous for outing Willie Mays for taking amphetamines during the 1985 Pittsburgh drug scandal, arguably the second biggest scandal in baseball history!
