Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Thanks Mike. This will be a GREAT reference for the '52 set when it's complete. There is some great info on the backs of the cards.

On that note - why is the #80 so pricey?

Not many players can say they have "captured by the Germans" on the back of their baseball card. Mickey Grasso can. #91 is next. Doug

Here is #91 Red Schoendienst (signed and unsigned). You know you are a vintage Cardinals collector when you can type and spell Schoendienst fast, without looking.

    Reserving #100 Del Rice.

I just looked it up and was shocked that Red Schoendienst is still alive and kicking at age 89!

So will someone post this for me please:

    I'll then delete it here.

Nice card Mike, I'm also going out but I've copied it if someone posts 96 I'll put it in when I get home. I've put a bunch of cards up today so I'll cool it for awhile and give other guys a chance. Quite the progress today.

Willard Marshall had a heck of year in 1951, he played 136 games in right field and made zero errors, the second time in MLB history to be done. Didn't strikeout much either, only 18 K's in 469 plate appearances that year.

    Thanx again Doug.

John - the Mele card is incredible!

This is for the guys who are seriously doing the set - I asked this question but it's buried in all these great cards.

I like the color of card #80

After looking into ebay - I can't believe what a 7 will set ya back! Can anyone share why?

Mike I think the simple answer is centering. This card is either off center in every direction, diamond cut, you name it. I'd be curious to know where this card sat on the sheet when it came to cutting the cards. The thing is a bear to get centered. The one my wife got me (see card #80 on this thread) was one I had on my watch list for a long time, not for the overall condition which is probably in the 4 graded range, but for the centering. It is similar to the Billy Loes card in this set of which I saw a centered 7 sell a few weeks ago for $920, which was a straight up auction and not a BIN. I hope this helps. Doug
