Picked up my first Morgan ever, a 1921-D. Bought it mainly because it was cheap, I like that its the only Denver-MM in the series, and it had some interesting die cracks on the reverse. Upon further inspection once home, its a solid VAM-1D.

Anyone know what these trend for price wise? I'd grade it at 62 at best.

    Worth slabbing and getting attributed?

I am qualified to answer most of your questions, but the vam value guide lists it as having a value of $100 in 62 and $150 in 63

It's not a new find, but I got crossover results today on the 1880-O VAM 49 ANACS-45 I posted in October. I thought it had a chance at XF45, but PCGS said XF40. image
    When in doubt, don't.

This obsession definitely has it's ups and downs ... this week is full of downs:

    My possible 1878 7TF V123 ... was not. image

PCGS gave me an "altered surface" on my 1880-O V49 that looked MS61 to me (evidently it had a quick bath in the jewelry cleaner). image

I did get an XF40 from PCGS on my 1878 8TF V9 that kept me from shooting the neighbors. image

But I still keep at it ... what's wrong with me? image

    1881-O VAM-1D NGC MS65 (Flaky Eye)
    1921 VAM-14A ICG MS65

The flaky eye is a no-brainer crossover to PCGS unless they think that stuff at the eye in altered surfaces. The ICG coin is possibly a cross to PCGS MS65, lustrous with very few marks.

FInally arrive so I could verify my cherrypick. Indeed I was correct:

    1880-S VAM-12 NGC MS64DMPL (Hit List 40)

And it is an incredibly deep DMPL.

Also 1921-D VAM-1P PCGS MS64, a 1 point upgrade from my previous set piece.

I havent posted in awhile, I've been inundated with diapers...but anyways image

Here's a sampling of some recent acquisitions...

I scalped a nice raw 1878-s Vam 27 Long nock....I estimate it to be in XF/AU range image This is probably one of the nicest Long Nocks I've picked to date. Paid $22 bucks for it.

A nice 1888-o Vam 1A, certified SGS MS65, on the relative cheap. $66 bucks

Also, my first 78-s Vam 49 Funky Feather. Raw BU-ish. $20 bucks

All in all, not bad for the last couple of months...although, my pickin' has slowed down considerably.

Just an update to my 1878-S VAM27 Long Nock that I posted the other day...

I just received it in the mail, and its actually better than I thought. I estimate a high AU, with an outside shot at MS. image

Definitely a keeper, and I believe nice enough to be graded by any TPG....YES!!!!

First vam for awhile; saw some ebay pics what I thought was a 21-D capped s; turned out to be a 1G. Now I already have a 1g LDS but this appears to be an ultra late die state, with breaks I don't see on my other example. (I'll start a thread on this)

The S which has the main break also has a horn on the back of it:

    image

This pic it is hard to tell but there is a tilted field around the 1st S in states:

    image

The cracks between the A and M appear large enough (in my non-expert opinion) to be considered breaks, especially on the back of the R.
