<< <i>I like this coin mostly because there is so much going on with it. The 7 in the date is very strongly doubled, along with the stars left of the date. The A1c reverse is similarly full of interesting stuff.
ANACS calls it an MS64; I like it as a strong 63 - but there are counter wheel marks (I think) on the obverse. Tell me if they are something else - that was my best guess.
It's a problem coin. Rim nicks, a little corrosion, and toned black. But it was a VAM-9 and I couldn't just leave it there. I know there are collectors out there who could use the coin but don't have a bunch of bucks to tie up in a nicer example. It was the only real dog in the bunch though. The oval O has some tape residue on the obverse which should come right off without disturbing the coin's surfaces.
I got this off ebay recently, but I don't know if the "e" in we is weak enough to be considered a VAM-1B2 instead of just VAM-1B? The "e" is still raised slightly above the surface of the coin.
The grade result of my one raw coin purchase at the Long Beach show last month just posted: a 1921-D VAM 1N "Unicorn" that I thought would grade MS62 went MS63 instead.

At the last Long Beach show I pulled a 1921-D VAM 1N "Unicorn" from a group of 24 raw BUs a dealer had, told him it was a variety I was looking for, and offered him more than double the per-coin price he was asking for the group. He smiled and handed me a flip almost before I got the words out of my mouth.

Excellent choice. I have a PCGS AU55 and this is intentionally my Registry Set coin. Yes, the uber common does not interest me much. James has two, one in BU. I think yours is only the 4th or 5th that's turned up.
One day, they'll be worth a fortune (
I reminded Mike Fey, this is the earliest die state found of the A1K reverse and the obverse here is PL, but the reverse is not. You can figure out the rest...

Yeah I agree with Steve... No need to worry about those pesky peace $'s. They are a vam wasteland on the bay.
FYI!!! Also back from Leroy,1904-O Vam 22A2 Revision(Thought I had a New Discovery on this one). First 1904-O with overlapped reeding.About 14 segments @ 12:00 o'clock and at 7:30.Widest overlap that Leroy has seen.

Excellent choice. I have a PCGS AU55 and this is intentionally my Registry Set coin. Yes, the uber common does not interest me much. James has two, one in BU. I think yours is only the 4th or 5th that's
turned up.

They are a vam wasteland on the bay.
btw nice wing break.
BTW, who ripped this one? Had it on the watch list, all of a sudden it ended with a BIN. Hmmm... I think I know who it was! (no, not me)
