From the annual San Diego show. Didn't find a single slabbed Morgan I wanted. Everything I picked up was raw. One I chose was an 1888-O VAM-7A. I messed up and put the wrong 1888-O into my stack. Went back to that table a couple hours later and it was gone. Best find was the O over horizontal O, followed by the 1880-O VAM-4. However, the 1901 VAM-3 was my favorite pickup. This variety had eluded me for years. First one I found. The problem in the old days was that I was only looking at prooflikes and never circs.

1921 Peace Dollar, Vam 1F,Matte Proof Die.I guess you could call it a Latest Vam Find, though I've had it for years but just found out yesterday what it was.
I picked up two VAMs today (Sunday) at our monthly coin show: cherried both, an XF-45 1878 VAM-141 for $32 and an MS-62 VAM-144A for $60. I had never heard of this VAM-144A before. It's an R-5 sub-variety with clashed letters. On my example both the I and n can be seen. I like it. Bud

Rarely drop in with a report. But had a week with a lot going on.
1923 P Marked Double Die Reverse on ANACS MS65 holder. Havent seen it in hand yet to confirm its absolutely VAM-3, but I wouldn't bet against the holder. Picked it up for less than common MS65 price.
1921 S VAM-6A AUish not that special but I'll take em all day long at 19 bucks.
1923 P VAM-1V in a PCGS MS63 holder.
1880 O VAM-48 Hangnail Looks stunning in hand but my photos on VAMworld board seem to bring out every little flaw.
1921 S thornhead. Cant tell what die state and hasnt arrived yet but I have little doubt from sellers photo. Picked this one up for price of a common 1921 S Morgan so if my eyes turn out to be seeing things again no worries.
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.
You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.
<< <i>Nice going John,Especially the 1903-O Vam 16A.I think you and i are the only ones that have one of these. >>
Did you discover the 16A? I had been desperately looking for an 03-O that was remotely interesting for years. When I saw the 16A in Leroy's update, I knew I had to track one down.

Where are people finding these donkey tails! I have been doing this thing for a VERY long time and have never cherried one. I finally broke down and bought an attributed AU recently. (Would have gotten another attributed one in a Superior sale several years back but they FUBAR'ed the absentee bids and it went to a pal on the floor for peanuts.)

I was wondering the same thing. My friend James has cherried two of them this year, both AU's.
He's particularly lucky, too. He just cherried his third 1878-S long nock- his second one this month!

That's a tough one that most people probably don't know about. I picked up one in NGC 64PL a few years back. THis is not a variety one would expect in PL. How are your surfaces? Do they look PL-ish? Cool sleeper anyway.
Any Vammers know what one would expect to pay for an 1878 7/8TF, VAM 41C "Bearded Lady" in say MS 64 PL? It was actually closer to 65 but the seller called it 64.

Not mine, but I do know someone that just paid $500 for a raw MS-63 '78-8TF VAM 22 at fleaBay. And someone else just paid $128.50 for a raw AU '78-8TF VAM 10. And yes, they were unattributed, but they sure as he!! weren't cherried. I could use a few fleaBay customers like this.
