I see sealed boxes being offered on eBay at big premiums. I would be very leary of buying any of these boxes, they are sealed with clear tape which can be lifted using blow dryer and then resealed without leaving a trace.

You mean this one which has tamper evident tape, the other ones i'm seeing pop up are smaller orders that have the clear tape. There is no way to know if the box has been opened and resealed. I'm surprised PCGS will even accept them for the First StrikeSM designation.

but like the poster just above you said.. there were plenty of reports in the "sweet spot" period of people who got boxes of 100 and got one or two 08/07s.. or none.. or the next guy ordered them 10 at a time.. and got 0/10, 0/10, 0/10, 10/10.. or the next guy who ordered a bunch of boxes of 10 and got none.. it's really hit or miss.. pack date notwithstanding.. even if i had a few grand to dump on such a sealed box, which i don't, i wouldn't.. it'd be a total gamble.. if money was no object, i might risk it.. it's like bidding on a sealed-box Storage locker auction where you can't look at anything, can't open any boxes.. you just bid on the whole lot, have to pay cash on the spot, and haul it all away.. and could end up with almost anything.. or buying a used CHP car.. they are constantly serviced, but have a bajillion miles on them, they often sit idling for hours, they're driven hard.. and the CHP won't let you test drive them before you buy one, and no refunds.. even if the tranny falls out as you're driving off their lot.. you're screwed.. so like

What I was trying to show was that the top end is stretching higher for each kind of example: Raw, NGC and PCGS. As the high is stretch higher the lower prices will rise to the higher. In a down market the opposite happens.

That NGC 69 that ended at $357 is a NON 'Early Release'. Given that CW reported there was one 24 hour period they were all made within, why should there be a designation of 'First Strike' or 'Early Release'? That has begun to puzzle me....

If I owned 10 raw and didn't send them in for First Strike, then by now, I'd put a serious look to them with a 10x loupe. If 2 of the ten had "pizzazz' they would be sent ASAP. If 4 of them exhibited these strengths, 4 would go ASAP. I would sell ONE raw on ebay (The worst of the bunch, of course)... starting at one dollar for ten days. Pay the $200 or $400 for the speedy turnaround time. Once you know the results you can list one , or two(3 or 4) that are encapsulated by "ours truly" on eBay or in local newspapers or wherever you choose to "flip" them (Hint : Buy Sell Trade Forum). Not not only will you have made a healthy profit after expenses, you will still own half of them "MID GRADES" in their original package.

Possibly because there are some that only collect PCGS graded coins and there is only a few of them and more of the NGC. I also think that PCGS MS70 grading standards are a bit more conservative than NGC.

Gold and silver are valuable but wisdom is priceless.
I have three 08/07's, and my plan was to submit them to PCGS (along with four 08/08's) through my dealer at the Balmer show on June 5-7th. That seemed to be the most cost-effective way to submit them: I would get to save one-way shipping since my dealer could just drop them off at the PCGS table. Alas, I just found out yesterday that my dealer is not going to be attending the showhad to reschedule a Canadian fishing trip for that weekend, and is missing the show for the first time in memory).
So, as a collector (not investor) who plans to hold on to these ASE's, instead of 'flipping' them, what is my best alternative option? I like the look of PCGS slabs better than NGC's, but I can live with having NGC's. Am I better off biting the bullet (withe the added expenses) and shipping my ASE's to my dealer so that he can mail them in to PCGS? Or does it make more sense for me to use my free NGC membership (as an ANA member) to directly submit them at the Balmer show? Even though, I'm a collector committed to riding out the price swings for the long-run, I of course would like to maximize the appreciation potential of these coins.
