<< <i>Tavarez is doing his best to remind us why we miss a healthy Schilling. >>

yes, Julian sucks Fenway Franks. Got to be in the lead after six to make it a six inning game. Theo forgot about that part at the trading deadline.

I've said it before about Drew, but I think it applies to Wily Mo as well. When he comes to the plate in an important situation, it's a lot like co-ed softball. When the game is on the line it always seems like you have to send your worst girl to the plate . . . you don't know exactly how it's going to happen, but you know with every fiber in your being that the end result is going to be an out.

I sit watching the game an invariably shout at the TV (and the opposing pitcher): PLUNK HIM!

I cant wait to see where the standings lie when the Yanks and Sox face off at the end of August! One thing Bosox may have going for them is that Yanks have a TOUGH August schedule with Detroit twice, LAA, Indians, and Blue Jays are no slouch...while it appears Bosox have a bit lighter schedule even though they face the Angels twice and the Mariners this weekend. We'll all be chomping at the bit this month!!!!

Dont worry, the whole division will most likely be hanging in the balance pending the outcome of our little "rivalry" series.

The baseball season really starts in August - ok, ok, it intensifies in August. Games are no more important in August as compared to April & May, but knowing where one stands in the standings certainly intensifies the competition. This is when the baseball season really gets good!!

Amazing. The Red Sox load the bases in the 6th and can't bring anybody in . . . thank you Slug Mirabelli. Anybody else catch that brilliant piece of baserunning?

they do a good job of "fouling" up on the basepaths. He sure made up for it in his next at-bat with the go-ahead RBI. I'm sure that lifted a heavy weight off his chest. Is he hitting .200 yet?

Hopefully we can hold on to our lead here. And hopefully the Yankees will lose their softball game as well.

I love the White Sox today. Those two home runs Dye hit for them were just as helpful as they would have been had he hit them for the Red Sox.

Tell you what, I dont like this M's series coming up IN Seattle. We always play like crap up there, not to mention the Yanks are playing KC and you know they will anihilate them. Quite possibly a very ugly weekend coming up here so brace yourselves boys....

it sure seems like Seattle has owned the Sox this year. Time for the bats to wake up in a big way (like the Yankee bats, which are scary right now, even without Arod's help).

Yeah, the Sox have lost 8 in a row in Seattle. That either means we're in for a long weekend or we're due for a complete reversal of fortune. I'm hoping for the latter.

Since it's August now and I don't have to worry too much about fans from other teams (that will remain nameless) saying it's too early to start talking about the playoffs, I decided to look at the standings and come up with a best guess of how many wins it's going to take to win the AL East. My guess is that 95 wins should do it. The Sox will need to go 29-25 (.537) the rest of the way to get 95 wins. The other team will have to go 37-17 (.685) to win 95 games. I'm not saying I think that the other team can't play that well or that we will definitely play that well, but it seems like a realistic goal at this point, don't you think?

    Mike Timlin: Ugh.

time for Timlin to hang it up. Lester was unimpressive tonight.

And the M's beat Boston again in Seattle...I think that's what, 9 straight?

I'm really getting sick of this.

Right now, the Yankees look like the best team in the American League.

And the Red Sox look like......a .500 team.

why do we even bothe with Timlin? Do we really think he can be impressive enough to trade for something worthy? I think he has outstayed his welcome here. Let's ship him and Drew, throw in Lugo for a real SS

We just get Gane right? The way I see it, we got OKJ, Gagne AND Papelbon? We need to rid ourselves of guys that are not getting it done at least on the pitching side of things.. We already missed the boat on unloading a few "non-hitters"

Today will be a collission of streaks. The Sox are now 0 for their last 9 in Safeco, but Washburn hasn't beaten the Sox since 2004.

I don't think it's overstating things to say that it's critical that we win at least one game against the Mariners. So how about we score some freakin' runs tonight so we can hand the ball over to OKJ, Gagne, and Papelbon? Or better yet, how about we score so many freakin' runs we don't have to hand the ball over to any of those guys?

Yanks fans love it too image

Actually, after an initial lead, they came back and tied the game. But it didnt take long for them to lay down, as you said.

KC gave up more runs today than they did in the entire series against the Red Sox last time around (12 runs allowed in 3 games). imageing Royals.

Dice K pitching a gem for you guys tonight...other than the Beltre homer early, he's been nearly untouchable. We always have a tough time scoring runs off him, he's just had bad luck against Seattle. Looks like he's going to get just enough offense tonight.

Alright, Youkilis. Nice leadoff double in the 6th, now let's drive him in and then score some more freakin' runs already.
