    Hello Nick,

Sorry, but I only received one recent PM from u (i.e., about the Cey card), before that, the previous PM was in March! And as far as an email? Either it got deleted, or came in to me as email spam? Not quite sure?

I had received a number of emails, PMs, and even a few postings about wanting my Ron Cey PSA 9 dup. ArnyVee did gobble it up right away from me (as he's needing Dodgers cards!).

Nick, but I did send u a "mind PM" saying that the Cey card was already gone! image

I plum forgot to respond "for real", to your recent PM! Again Nick, I'm soooooooooooooo sorry!

    rd

P.S. Someone here was right, u should have used the "Force" to make contact! LOL!

    103 Murphy
    165 Stennett
    306 Niekro
    319 Ashby
    330 Watson
    347 Forster
    389 Gonzalez
    481 Todd
    504 Freed

    562 Burke
    563 Rader
    597 Dillard
    630 Cey
    642 Doyle
    690 Rivers

It would be so cool to finish it before I leave for my trip to Nepal and Tibet in May. So: for anyone who comes through for me, I will throw in a personal blessing from the Dalai Lama!

As for you, Dan...I will put in a request to him for your Jackson Todd; rbd, you get one card...just LMK which one; George...I'm not sure who you'd want, so I need a list to choose from.

    Guys,

I am going through some tumultuous thoughts regarding the direction that collecting will take me. I have even entertained the thought of making my 78 set available. I know, I can't believe I am thinking the way I have been for awhile now. Topps Heritage has me hook line and sinker and I really enjoy collecting these cards and sifting through to find the best to put in binders. I am thinking I want to collect the entire Heritage run from 2001 through 2007. I have enough minty 78 raw to get a great start on a super 78 raw set plus I have unopened.

My wife thinks I am nuts with all of the hard work done on this set the past 2 plus years .....

No, Dan. You're not nuts. You're married. And now, with child, right?

Those events can be quite life-altering.

Besides...you are the originator of this thread. No one can ever take that away from you!

Building a large set seems to be just like building a custom car or hot rod. You put blood, sweat, and tears into it, and once it's done, you're bored with it and want to sell it so you can start another project. Either that or you have to sell it for the cash, but it's still the same thing. It's a fun hobby, I say do what makes you happy! image

I don't think anyone is nuts selling a set they put together. The thrill of the chase is 99% of the fun for many. After the chase is gone, the thrill is gone. Good luck if you decide to sell!

    Frank,

Being married has nothing to do with my mindset! Really! I swear! My wife was shocked that after 2 plus years I am thinking of going in a different direction. I don't "NEED" to sell the set but it does bother me that I really don't sit down and give these great cards a second look after I find the specimen that suits my criteria. I look at my scan library 100 times more then I look at the actual slabs. They are sitting in semi storage far away from immediate access. I have thought about upgrading to 10's but I FEEL that many many of my 9's could EASILY be sitting in a 10 holder. This has NOTHING to do with my opinion of grading but more to do with the thought of ..... what is the point of upgrading cards that really can't be nicer then the cards i have?

So, why should I have all of these cards that I don't touch once I am happy with them? It all boils down to my growing admiration for cards in binders .... OLD SCHOOL!

    Dan,

I can understand where you are coming from. I also put together a nice set from the racks I opened that is close to the set I have graded. I did this with thew expectation of probably getting tired of the graded set at some point in time (not yet though) and would keep the raw set going forward. As long as your comfortable with your decision then you made the right decision. I also like the Heritage line going back to the 2001 and I am sure you will get enjoyment out of those as well.

Take your time and make the right decision for you.

I HAVE THE SOLUTION!!! Place all of your 1978 Topps PSA cards in BINDERS!! YES!!

    ...no

Oh well, whatever you decide, it will be the right choice for you.

I'm planning on displaying my Ripken PSA set in large wall cases in my home office. Not as large as your set (mine will be 330+ cards), but large enough.

    Dan,

I think you are facing the age old question of collectors, is the thrill in hunting or owning? Only you can answer the question.

The other option is to have both, you spectacular PSA set and another set in a binder. Comic book collectors do it all the time. Their high grade or rare comics are graded in slabs and they find lesser copies when they want to actually read the story.

I recently parted with my #1 Carew Master Set. I felt i have done as much as i could do with the set. It was a fun challenge and took about two years. I have now moved on to other challenges. One is completing my 1954 Bowman baseball set (unlisted) that is 80% complete in PSA 8's with a few 9's. The stars will be where most of the remaining money needs to go.

I'm slowly going through my excess PSA 9's still. I'm expecting some more if my submission ever comes through from March. In the meantime, I have 148 PSA 9 NQ's that I would like to sell as many outside of ebay if possible. These are mostly commons, only four stars and several mid pops (20's) and one pop 14 (#169). If you are interested, send me a PM and I will send you a complete listing of what is available with prices.
Thanks for putting up with the spam again. Jon

I just listed some low pop 9's on ebay with more to follow over the weekend. Also if anyone has a good offensive tackle for trade, my Chiefs would be interested image Word is Larry Johnson may be on the block as well, as the Chiefs don't want to shell out 8m at the end of the year. Time to go watch the draft--see ya later.

    Hello all,

I am looking for a couple of cards I need to get my team sets over the 75% mark in order to ask for my free grades. The teams I currently need some cards on are:

    Cubs need 1 card
    Orioles need 1 card
    Red Sox need 1 card
Tigers need 2 cards, but I have a tram R that was graded a 5 so if I can only get 1 I would take it.

    Thanks for your help,

    George

So, for my brothers in this thread ..... check out NO Spokes for these 78's as I will make sure every 78 guy is taken care of before I pursue other avenues ....

Just picked up a not very good condition set in a binder, for $60.00. Not really expecting much, as I have seen many commons go for more then this, but I blame you guys and this thread for my purchase.
