That is definitely one of the nicest Ryans I have seen! Hope some of the rest of you have good luck on your submissions. I am awaiting mine hopefully in the near future.
Thanks for the welcome, and I promise to open my set as soon as I get all the serial numbers entered. :-)
Also, I got all the cards I purchased from South-Florida-Heat, even the ones I got through the second chance offers! Yes, even a Brewers Team card, although of course not the one pictured in the auction (although still a PSA 9).

WOW, there was some HEAVY HITTING tonight with all of those PSA 10's ending on e-bay. I came out of the scrum with one measly card that I already have in PSA 10
I mean HOLY CRAP was there punches being thrown .....
2,000 dollars spread over 26 cards with Yaz leading the way at $415.
The 78's have made it to pending status--i sent in low pops off of your list-----#39,111,115,125,132,141,158,183,185,256,263,279,310,369,386,395,444,506,512,525,560,618,681,717,726. I believe i added a few more as well. I forgot to make myself a copy. I'll just have to wait until the grades pop to se what others i sent in.
Well since Joe is hiring a grader--lets just see if i qualify or not. IMO only 2 or 3 will get the 10 from what i recall. These were almost centered perfect front and were really good on the back sides.
I just picked up a few unopened packs of '78 Topps that I'm going to open. I'll post what I got as soon as I open 'em. I'm probably only keeping one sealed.

Whoo Hoo !!!!! It took me about a week longer than Mike (sinibob) but I've just completed my all PSA 9+ 1978 set. Terry Forster was just won on eBay a few minutes ago and will be updated into my set as soon as it arrives. Good luck to the rest of you who are nearing completion - Bob, George, Gerald, Jeff, etc... I'll check back in from time to time to see everyone's progress..........Next stop, finishing up 100% complete on my 1973 set. If any of you guys can help me out, I have plenty of extra '78 cards I can trade.

Dan, thanks for the congrats! I have really enjoyed building this registry set. I will continue to upgrade this wonderful set, when I can.
I Still do need these (8) cards to complete this great set! Looking for PSA 9s or 10s (five of the eight cards should be fairly easy to obtain, while the Todd, Herndon and LeMaster cards are toughies). Hopefully, one or more of these cards will become available out of the recent case rip. PM or email me if you have any of these items available: rbdjr@bellsouth.net

I want to know what set are you going to work on next ..... I want to make sure I am no where close to that set - George >>
George,
I'm not sure what set I'll build next? Let's see, I went from 1961 Nu-Card Football to 1976 Topps Baseball to this 1978 Topps Baseball set, and now what?
I will still update these two (1961 Nu-Card Football & '76 Topps Baseball) sets when I can, with PSA 10s, or a centered nine blazer, when I can, but it gets "harder and harder", I think I was able to upgrade only two 1961 Nu-cards over the past year, plus I was outbid on an Ernie Davis PSA 10 (the key card to set!). You just do not see volumes of 1961 Nu-Card Football for sale any more. I wonder how much unopened 1961 Nu-card Football wax still exists out there?
As far as 1976 Topps baseball, I'm able to p/u some upgrades "here and there", maybe one or two a month, but it is getting more and more difficult, for example, would I bid on a 1976 Ryan PSA 10? For $5000-$6000? I don't think so, not at this time! With SMR for PSA 9s @ $265, one could think this to be a "bit over-priced" for a PSA 10, u think?
In any event, no matter what set I choose to build next, I hope to continue to upgrade my 1976 & 1978 baseball sets (and maybe find one or two more PSA 10s for my 1961 Nu-Card Football set?)...
Who knows whats coming next?
rd
P.S. I would like to personally thank John (aka: Wondo) for allowing me to purchase from him on "lay-a-way", over 5 installments, well over 100 of the toughest cards in this set. I just paid my "fifth and final installment" for this last lot of cards:
PSA 9s
630 – RON CEY 642 – DENNY DOYLE 651 – DOUG RADER 688 – GEORGE MITTERWALD 689 – INDIANS TEAM 690 – MICKEY RIVERS 710 – ROOKIES, OUTFIELD 717 – NELSON BRILES 725 – KURT BEVACQUA
PSA 10s
565 – KERRY KOOSMAN 592 – BOB APODACA 593 – DAVE SCAGGS 607 – FERNANDO ARROYO 609 – JOHN DENNY 618 – TOMMY HELMS 682 – KEN BRETT 684 – RALPH HOUK 687 – JULIO CRUZ 706 – ROOKIES, 1ST BASE 719 – RANDY ELLOITT 724 – ROYALS TEAM 726 – WILBER WOOD
John (Wondo), it has been a pleasure to work with u over these past months, and I'm sure we will "hook-up" again. (If u havn't checked-out Wondo's ebay store, u should! John has over 500 pretty cool items for sale right now! Here is Wondo's ebay link: Wondo's ebay stuff! ).
I understand your dilemma, You have 3 great sets going and I am sure your next set will complement the 3 you already have nicely.
I have also agree John was a pleasure to work with in getting many of the cards I needed for my set, but I would have to add you have also been great to work. I do appreciate it. Thanks,
Those are three awesome sets! Good luck in your next venture although I am sure you will be checking in here as you upgrade.
I won't ever build another graded set again, my reasons are for a different topic. This 78 set will be my only project. I have started the 57 set but I am going to be deleting that set soon.
I am forever more a raw set builder as Topps Heritage as renewed my love of crisp MINT sets in a binder.
YIKES! Every time I look at the registry rd jumps higher. Now in the #2 spot. RD, you might as well go for a complete PSA 10 set. Although good luck finding a #400 Nolan Ryan

Hello Jerry, I'll have a #630 Ron Cey PSA 9, that will be avail. in a few days. Yes, I'd be interested in your Meoli PSA 10 (#489). Both the Cey & the Meoli are lo pops, but the Cey, "bleeds Dodger blue", which makes it even a tougher card to find in PSA graded mint (I just added to my set, the only Cey PSA 10, and also a nice PSA 9 example, like I said will be delivered in a few days.).
LMK, what u think? (u can PM me or email me at: rbdjr@bellsouth.net)
Just these nine more cards to go and I'll reach 100%!
Any help is appreciated!

<< <i>I've picked up about a 1/2 dozen Dodgers in PSA 9 so far. Anyone else have some extra Dodgers in PSA 9 or 10 that they're willing to part with? >>
ArnyVee,
Being a lo pop item to begin with, and then add the Dodger and Ron Cey collectors to the 1978 Topps set builders herein, makes this card, in my opinion, pretty tough.
I recently obtained a PSA 10, so this PSA 9 is avail, if u desire. $15 delivered.

Note: typical Topps ink/print spots are noticable (Arny, maybe an eight in a nine's costume? Still, a pretty scarce Dodger item!)
<< <i>I've picked up about a 1/2 dozen Dodgers in PSA 9 so far. Anyone else have some extra Dodgers in PSA 9 or 10 that they're willing to part with? >>
Hi Arny,
I've got 228 Mota, 375 John, 417 Garman, and 586 Goodson all in PSA 9 NQ. If interested PM me and hopefully we can work something out. Thanks.
I got a very fast turnaround from the last special, unfortunately they were as expected mostly 8 & 9's sub number 614816 zip 48309. Most will be available if anyone is interested (Including a Blomberg and Rader). Only a few will make the set. I did get a few nice grades including a Rivers 9 and a Blue Jays Team 10. All in all though I will stay away from vending in the future. Racks were the way to go.
I haven't forgotten about sending you my 73 dupe list to help you with your set. I have been working to get my 78s in my registry set, and finally got it updated today. (I sent you an email earlier as reference.)
I have decided to focus on my 78 set, now that the 73 set is winding down. Only 550 to get 100% complete, and 609 to get 100% PSA9!
Here are my crappy grades that just popped from the March Special. Nothing exciting, but they're what I expected (minus the Caldwell). The two Molitors were identically crappy, I can't believe the one came back a 4. They both should have been 8OC. Anyway, if you're interested, they will be on ebay as soon as I get them.
Not a bad turn-around time on the March Special though!!

Hey Dan,
The 78's have made it to pending status--i sent in low pops off of your list-----#39,111,115,125,132,141,158,183,185,256,263,279,310,369,386,395,444,506,512,525,560,618,681,717,726.

George,
I'm not sure what set I'll build next? Let's see, I went from 1961 Nu-Card Football to 1976 Topps Baseball to this 1978 Topps Baseball set, and now what?
Just not sure what to do now?
rbdjr1's 1961 Nu-Card Football Set - The Number One All Time Finest Set
rbdjr1's 1976 Topps - The Number One All Time Finest Set
rbdjr1's 1978 Topps Set - 3rd Current Finest Set

I have also agree John was a pleasure to work with in getting many of the cards I needed for my set, but I would have to add you have also been great to work. I do appreciate it.
Thanks,
George
Those are three awesome sets! Good luck in your next venture although I am sure you will be checking in here as you upgrade.
I won't ever build another graded set again, my reasons are for a different topic. This 78 set will be my only project. I have started the 57 set but I am going to be deleting that set soon.

ArnyVee,
Being a lo pop item to begin with, and then add the Dodger and Ron Cey collectors to the 1978 Topps set builders herein, makes this card, in my opinion, pretty tough.
I recently obtained a PSA 10, so this PSA 9 is avail, if u desire. $15 delivered.

Note: typical Topps ink/print spots are noticable (Arny, maybe an eight in a nine's costume? Still, a pretty scarce Dodger item!)

Hi Arny,
I've got 228 Mota, 375 John, 417 Garman, and 586 Goodson all in PSA 9 NQ.
