For those that are attending Eagles concerts (I love the band), do know that Don Henley plays recordings of his voice versus singing live. This has been proven with voice recordings. So, it's an act!

Today’s a Starbucks Red Eye Saturday - visiting family in the Sunshine State. And, with an announcement: the Early Walker Set has been completed! Here’s the last one - the toughest of all 1921-S:
This was a long journey; it’s fitting the 21-S was the final piece. Lots to like: eye appeal, strike, detail are all pretty good. 63 grade is right on. What’s extra nice is the price point difference between a 63 & 64 is big - some $15-20k! Most of the 64’s I’ve seen are lesser coins than this one, especially from an eye appeal standpoint.
I’m going to retire the set now that it’s complete. All the some 26 coins grade 63-65. 14 are beaned & some were not submitted. So, it’s a quality set with completion being the goal. It will rank #5 all time, which is more than I hoped for. I could never compete with the top sets, but that’s OK. For me, the set was still major $$$$ & I had to part with other coins along the way to keep it going. In the end, it was well worth it!
I picked up one this week. Not my usual. I usually prefer nice for the grade pieces. I have owned quite a few of these as it is my favorite US coin design.
This is probably the least of them as far as technical grade but the toning spoke to me.
Not sure of it's fate yet.
This D Skidmore's token is almost full red in hand. Just blazing luster
The design is nearly as popular as the famous Good For A Scent token, but this token is many times rarer. Redeemable in the parlor of Skidmore's Hotel in Seneca Falls for "one." One what? Nobody knows for sure.
The eagle's beak gives us a clue. The oblong shape of the object resembles a cigar, though I've heard the suggestion that it is a pen.
A pen?! Good for one pen??? 😆

By far my favorite thread. @Copperindian big congrats on the very exceptional and lustrous 21-s. A monumental acquisition for any Walker collector, and that one just looks fantastic. @JWP I love cats, and I really love your 2024 Flowing Hair! Damn those are gorgeous!
Here's my Shireman 1908 in MS-67 CAC. Barber's don't come this nice typically, and the luster is just as thick as the day it was made.

Ok, I'm a little late to the party this morning. Up late, running around this morning, getting ready to go hang out with my Grandson, but wanted to show the one I received this week, that got stuck in purgatory over last weekend.
Not quite my normal fare, except it is a Half Dollar, and it does qualify as a Bust. She just didn't have her cap yet.
According to some of my friends this is the latest Dies State they have seen in a grade higher than EF (there is one later satte with another reverse crack, but I have only seen images of one, an abused VF coin).
Pretty jazzed I knew it was a VLDS, was rare as such, and read the coin right. She is fantastic in hand.

Good Saturday evening all -
When I was very young, my first series that I collected was Jefferson nickels. The last one I needed for my set was 1938-S and it took me over a year to find one. Well, a bunch of years much later, I acquired an original mint roll of 1938-S nickels. Oh what enjoyment getting this mint roll. I thought it was so cool to share. Not rare now but when I was 7 years old, it wasn't easy....

Happy Red Eye Saturday everyone! Still in FL but will be home again in a couple days. Today I’m contemplating one of my favorite IHC’s:
While I’ve owned it for 10+ years, it’s never been posted on any thread in these pages. Why? I never had a decent photo until recently.
The rarity of a 1871 IHC in GEM RD is fairly unknown (this is also true for its “sister” 1872). Both are actually more rare than the vaunted 1877 in RD. A comparison of the three years shows this in the pops (all in 65RD):
1871 (Bold N like this one): 17/4;
1872 (also Bold N): 16/6;
1877: 26/12.
Currently, the coin is under review by CAC. If successful, I’ll update it in the “Never ending IHC thread”.
Happy Saturday everyone! Simply a beautiful Saturday here today so excited to get out and enjoy it. Some old Draped Bust Halfs this morning to enjoy the day.
Man that is some epic old gold, simply beautiful as well!!

Here is an interesting merchant token that I recently picked up from the Sydney F Martin Collection: Currier & Greeley Not One Cent But Just As Good. MILLER MASS-30.5 Double Struck. PCGS VG08
Gilman Currier & Andrew Greeley were tea & coffee packers at 4 Liberty Square in Boston during the 1850s. They issued various merchant cards; some with their business name on them, and others like this one that did not. Identified by the reverse die they used on them all, "Not One Cent, But Just As Good." Possibly struck by the Scovill Manufacturing Company in Waterbury, Connecticut.
The obverse die, which is a facsimile of Miss Liberty on the large cent, is double struck. Pretty neat!
Stay caffeinated, all.

Well, today isn't really about coins for me ... already out working on putting in a battery backup system for the house ... but coffee ... coffee is SO important.
And since I needed to take a break, I came in to check on my favorite Saturday morning place and pour another cup.
Great 1871 @Copperindian As you said, that's a REALLY tough coin. Gorgeous.
Oh hell Darrell! @Inspired70 Just break out the big dog gold! WOW!
Drinking my 2nd cup of coffee as I draft this up -
This thread is quite impressive with everyone's knowledge and the quality of coins. It has the WOW! factor.
Here is Seated half that I bought some time ago - I always wondered if it could be a prooklike? I might try to get it into a PL holder?
Also - some matching color with @FlyingAl pictures. Below is a Calfrac BG-427

Just back from a hike. But this was the docket this morning:

Pick up this unlisted Peru 1 real variety unbarred/broken ''H'' in HISP (it is low grade but never the less a new variety I needed):
NFL: Buffalo Bills & Green Bay Packers
Wow, I actually have some respect for you, now……
Thanks big brother!
