Anyone know the metallic content of this Prince Hall Free Mason medallion? Found in a group of coins in an old time collection. Not marked, is probably pot metal, but sounds like silver when “ dropped “ onto a flat surface. Thanks.

Hard to say, but kind of looks like pewter or some kind of “white metal“

Nothing rare or anything, current production, but I always am a sucker for a poured/ cast bar.

I liked the serial number as well. 🤓

One small variation from the 5 ounce that I have is that the 5 ounce is not brushed they come both ways
And the 5 ounce has an etched serial number whereas this one is stamped.

I've got a cool bar coming in the mail. From Great Britain, Backyard Bullion. I've seen him on Youtube for years and finally broke down and ordered one. It was right around $45 an ounce adding shipping, etc, but I'm ok to pay that once in a while for something interesting. His bars are all sent to the Edinburgh Assay office and have official hallmarks and many of you know I'm a sucker for that stuff!

Picked this up today.. I know it's minted by Engelhard, but no idea what year. Alengelhard claims less than 1000 Mintage.

Anyone know the year or other info?

I have a poured Colonial bar, but I'm not sure if Engelhard made it or not.

I've seen a few past Ebay auctions for bars like yours in the $450 range.. so I'm guessing not from Engelhard..

Yes they are. I wish I could find that picture of the dozen or so that were in the dealers case 30 years ago when I got mine.
I didn't know enough to buy them all, when I went back for the rest they were Long Gone.

Hey I'm not going to judge just because you feel like one of everything is cool.
I went down that rabbit hole years ago.
I think when a person gets to the point when they have their weight in silver, you can cut yourself some slack

Got a hunch these will dry up and become tougher to find. Just wish I started MUCH sooner. As an example, not too long ago I grabbed this on Ebay for under $200.. Try that now!

I owned a 3oz Engelhard years ago. Actually got it at spot +1
let it go soon after in a trade, basically let it go like normal silver. I kick myself often for that one!

Picked these up from LCS. Checked the allenglehard site for info but not familiar enough to determine if these have any premium. Any info from forumites appreciated.

Both have heavy premium on ebay Im thinking $300 - $500 a piece maybe more or less depending on the day, but the 5oz bars have become very popular and desirable.

Top one less than 100 minted = huge premium:
"4th series ingot in unique serial absent variation. An example sold privately on March 3, 2017 for $2,500.00. Another example sold via eBay auction for $2,373.00 on October 23, 2017"

Bottom one less than <250 minted = huge premium:
"4th series in 5-digit serial variation with leading zero format. Although this serial range spans approximately 6,000 numbers, production of this 5oz variety was very sparse within this run."

I would email pics to alengelhard.com for verification of authenticity. They get back within a couple of days.

Okay…my last 20 oz. arrived today. No more of those now. 😁

I retro fitted a 2 slab display box to house them. The length was a perfect fit and I just used some foam to fill the space width wise.
