I purchased this coin today at a coin show. I've always wanted one. I love it. The grade is historically perfect. I wanted one that was used buy early Americans without problems. I think this fits the bill. I need to figure out which one of the 1798's it is now.

PCGS Coin Facts lists them by major varieties. You may be able to match your coin to one of their pics.

Line star pattern with those two stars in front of the eagle's beak nearly touching each other is very distinct. If looking according to the Bowers (BB) numbers, I'd start at the end and work backwards. You be there in a few.
@alefzero thank you. I use your information as a lead towards finding the variety. I don't have the Bowers book. I typically use PCGS coinfacts for research first and go from there if necessary. That app is incredible.

Nope paid $50 _ for it at the flea market ...in a 2x2 flip ....do you know what it is? "Very rare ",and a two fer.... grease filled die strike .....all the markers are present... I'm pretty happy lol...

The light straight ones are probably barely noticeable in hand? The darker marks near eye are iffy for me. Pics can highlight certain things. Have to see it in hand. My casual viewing is usually naked eye 8-10" for dollars.

Agree. It would be unusual for both dies to be grease filled on the same side to the same extent. The planchet used to make this coin was punched from the end of the strip where it was tapered. Cool error.

Just picked this 1867/1867 Indian Head Cent. The second one that I've have found on ebay.top 100 IHC Variety pups the N clash in the neck ,as well the C clash in front of the eyes..
The N is frome the N in ONE ,as the C is from the C in CENT.
I picked another one earlier this year in a pcgs VG 10 slab.see image.
This a more proper set piece than the 4 bits I have for the variety. I am keeping that one too, as it is a previously unknown terminal die state, where the two obverse cracks merged to form a long cud, taking out the 13th star.

They only "bother" me a little, since they are just the original planchet striations showing through the strike.
Sometimes something just catches your eye. This fits perfectly with my Stone Mountain theme. Never seen one before...
