These are scarce but a big rarity in AU. I know of 8 in all AU grades (including impaired). There was one sold out of the Montgomery collection as low MS a half century ago, raw of course. Do not know if that is now among the documented AUs or what it would grade today.

Picked up this one recently. It is my third 1798 BB-114 (B-26). My first one was a PCGS AU55 die state IV. I then found one as an NGC XF45, later die state - sold to a friend at cherrypicking cost. This is the early die state - no date cracks and no radial crack through the branch.
(PCGS XF Details) -- the new one
Here is my later state one (PCGS AU55).
The one I sold off.
This is a pretty rare variety too. I wonder if anyone else has ever had three of them, and all condition census pieces. I think I have been rather fortunate in that regard. Luck can be fickle.

Pretty incredible coin!
Thank you. I received some good feedback and opinions from a couple of respected members here. I did consider carefully since it did not CAC, but at the end of the day I loved the coin in hand, so brought it home.
People who have known me for years know I always had a lot of very cool Morgans in inventory. I got away from them largely over the past 10 years or so. But recently picked up a fun one. It is an 1880-O VAM-7 (Hit List, pitted date) in PCGS 64 with a nice obverse lamination.

Very nice DuValle 2C, the second most common variety. It's similar in wear to my Lafayette ('dissected' in another thread) but without notable rim corrosion or surface etching. Yours is a much nicer coin, IMO.

I just got this ine back from PCGS... I know what "Devices Engraved" means... but I'm not seeing it...
Can anyone here point it out?
That looks like a cast counterfeit to me. Absolutely everything about that coin looks wrong.
I think it is genuine, But it suffered extensive environmental degradation.

I would have figured that those areas would have been lighter colored and not darker...
Adding to my so called slugs I have imaged several but have only two ready for posting today.
. 1964 Sterling Silver Montana Territorial Centennial CM Russell Personally I have not see this one mentioned in the books, only the bronze one. Could be a newer struck piece or just rare.

, C)1915 J-415 Silver gilt 41mm X3mm R7
Now I have seen these in holders but it's usually a details slab because of the holder was reed on top. It looks like the case to me on this one. None the less cool

Delivered by fedex on Tuesday. Originally posted in a gtg thread. Lots of die cracks around the stars on the obverse and around the United States of America and Twenty Dollars.
Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.
