    O'Neil only had 2 playing days cards. His main one (the other - from the same season - is hand cut) is 1946-47 Caramelo Deportivo. The last one (which was ungraded) sold for $4,260 in 7/20:

    The thing about O'Neil is that he did NOT make it in for his accomplishments as a player. It is universally known that he did not have a HOF playing career. His managerial and scouting career, combined with all that he did to preserve the legacy of the Negro Leagues, and his reputation as a great guy, are what finally got him elected. He will officially go in as a contributor, though, not a player.

    I thought this would finally be Bill Dahlen's year. Now I doubt he'll ever make it. I, too, was surprised that Dick Allen didn't get the nod. One vote short twice in a row. Ouch.

    Dahlen's T206 card is already priced like a HOFer. Will O'Neil get in the players set?
    To some extent Hodges and Kaat's contributions beyond playing years had to influence the voters as well.

    His 2014 Bowman rookie is included in the 30/30 set, but I prefer 2014 Topps Chrome because it's more valuable.

    I would think it would be Topps Chrome as well but the registry some how went with base Topps Molina Chrome even though it seems to sell for more.

    I believe I asked this question a while back here on the boards, but I don't think I got a clear answer. What would be "the" Joe Mauer rookie card for the HOF rookies set? Non-auto, parallel, etc.

    Thanks, Jay. Nothing like consistency, huh? I believe all of Mauer's 2002 BC cards are signed, so that would eliminate that one. I think it's gonna be Bowman based on the research I did a few years back, but I'm not certain.

    I have Bowman and Topps Chrome for Mauer but there seems to be a trend lately to using flagship Topps in the future HOF set, and I don’t have that one, so that’s the one it will end up being.

    I think Topps Chrome would be the best choice, but, to your point, they likely won't even consider it. I don't know when regular Topps cards supposedly became more desirable than their Topps Chrome counterparts.

    Yep. That’s the card that has been tracked in the “Future Hall of Fame Players” registry so it should slide over and I requested it Sunday evening. Have been holding that one awhile lol.

    I just noticed that the future HOF set was updated with a bunch of new players (and adopted the Bowman for Mauer). Was there a poll that I missed or are they no longer doing polls?

    I’m mostly fine with with that set being over inclusive so we know which cards to buy for the HOF registries, but Aaron Judge isn’t even eligible for the hall for another 3 seasons, so it seems premature to add him.

    When i spoke to PSA by email a while back on similar they said: “ With the addition of Associate Brand Managers & Brand Managers to the PSA Set Registry team, there is no longer the need to polling each requested addition. For sets that we previously had to poll, we now compile the appropriate data and run additions by the corresponding sports' ABM/BM. If the ABM & BM's are in agreement, then the item(s) will be added to the requested set checklist. ”

    I believe this may be the wisest move in the long run if that's the case. When you look at football and basketball, any of the Chrome rookie cards could be big obstacles for newer collectors to complete a registry set. Though the most extreme cases, the Tom Brady Bowman Chrome and LeBron James Topps Chrome come to mind.

    Who said the registry should be easy? Player sets, for instance, should be comprehensive. If they’re a challenge, so be it.

    Does anyone know how PSA decides which particular card they are going to select for a HOF player for the HOF ROOKIE CHECKLIST? For instance, Gary Sheffield is up again this year and he has 4-5 cards in the 1989 sets from Donruss, Topps, UD, etc. Which one do they chose or how do they do it? Thanks in advance

    Sheffield is already chosen 1989 UD

    Generally, PSA waits until I buy a card that IMO is the best choice. Then chooses another few people would have guessed.

    I wasn’t sure what Harper would eventually show up in the Future HOF registry but never expected this one. I thought “Leg Up” Bryce Harper or “Screaming “ would have been the choice

    It's not supposed to be the most attainable. It's supposed to be the most desirable, within reason (at least 1,000 made, non-parallel, non-auto). That's how it was for the first several years. Why it changed, I have no idea, but I'm not a fan.
