One thing that I am interested in learning more about is the somewhat reduced 3D amplification of lettering near the top and bottom of Dimeman's AU50 PCGS 1914-P...

Take a look at the Reverse lettering... specifically at the "TE" in STATES and the "D" in DOLLAR:

ANY THOUGHTS? as to why that is on this coin. Thanks!

Recently shared this... I don't mind resharing it! BTW, slight star doubling...

Great 96-o To me, the 96-o just has the aura of rarity, even more so than the 04-s....There is just something special about that date. Nice coin Buddy!

I am in the same camp as all of you on this specific coin. This may just be the best everyman 58 1896-O CAC with POP 2 (haven't seen the other coin but I would be hard-pressed to believe this '96-O CAC 58 can be beaten by anything for top everyman). Of course I am bullish, there are no + coins. I don't know how PCGS' camera did this but the TrueView badly accentuates scratch lines on the obverse.

https://www.pcgs.com/cert/44029591. In hand not as nearly pronounced. Color is simply fantastic and has a quality look with natural surfaces. A nicely stuck piece with strong definition. One look at it and you know it is original. Nice when rotating in the light.

Sharing some of my smart secret wisdom here: The way I was able to obtain this coin, and reasonably, was to provide commission $ to the person I knew who would top-bid against me. In that way, my chief competitor (who I knew would run up the price against me) would instead bid for me. The hammer, plus BP, plus small commission $ was less than what I would have had to outlay in overall cost.

I am going to try to go to the FUN show in January '23, just so you know. I will bring this coin with me to the BCCS meeting and leave it at the BCCS club table for viewing. I believe @JeffMTampa and I will be presenting the topic of Barber varieties at the BCCS meeting... well at least we have been asked to do that.

EDIT: @Eldorado9 @semikeycollector Thanks so much Eldo and skc. This was a must have coin for me and a special date. Still have to pinch myself I was able to stretch for one of the great ones! Thanks again Barber buddies!

@paesan That is a nice dime in a tougher date-mint combination. My former YN's collection would benefit from a piece just like that! Thanks for sharing.

Wow was it tough to be patient.
Look at the Reverse die cracks!

Indeed, and it must have been off the chart amazing. Wish those proof sets were still with us...Nowadays exceedingly rare.

Here is one I have had for years. It is a DETAILS AU grade but it is my discovery specimen for an S/S mintmark. Still pretty good looking 1894-S/S Barber Quarter.

Jeff, I like the orange-to-brown in this piece:

In addition, here are two coins I picked up from Jeff here recently. One is a nice AU '98 dime. The other, a Details hole-filler 1900-P Type II Obverse mated to a Type II Reverse:

Thanks Tim! It's ok, but NOT as nice as the following one that went on Great Collections last night, I was amazed that this coin (which I think is tremendously attractive) went for such a dear amount.
    Winning bid: $450 ($506.25 with Buyer's Fee)

CAC @jedm Jed. More and more I am seeing CAC coins distancing themselves from the pack for many issues.

I really like this 1895 I am resharing:

I may be in the minority here, but I prefer the look of the 95P over the 13P. But they are both very nice coins.

I love this golden brown toning, especially when it’s borderline pink.
I’m convinced it’s the result of spending years forgotten in the home of smokers. Tobacco toned.

    We're all born MS70. I'm about a Fine 15 right now.

Here is another one that I have not shared. I bought this about 6 months ago. My only OGH barber.

The '96-S as a date isn't all that easy to come by as a date-mint. Feigenbaum states it is a scarce issue but you can find nice specimens as this one attests to. Thanks Justin for sharing a really neat half dollar.
