Another humble low-grade newp with a slight edge roughness. However, a centered S '97-S...

Nice find! By the pics I'd guess it came from Wahoo NE.

The quarters brought good money tonight on Great Collections! I'm thinking the seller is very satisfied.

I am with you Jed. I was trying to stay on top of 7 different coins but was underbidder. The NGC AU-58 1906-O has a CoinFacts valuation (covering PCGS coins only) for $350. I bid $380 (not including BP) and got outbid at $382.

That is just one of many examples.

Here's my PCGS AU 58 1906 O Quarter. I purchased it in a NGC MS 62 holder in 2016 for $405. I cracked it out and submitted it raw to our hosts.

For a few years I was very good at finding coins in 61- 62 holders and getting them into 58 holders. My good fortune is gone, however. Perhaps the next time I try it I should take a rasp to the cheek to assure there's sufficient luster break.

    I love them Barber Halves.....

    "rasp to the cheek"

sacrilegious... hitting the beautiful girl Liberty just to get what you want!

Amazing quality Eldo. Very impressive! The gentle rim color on the '96 with flashiness to boot sure draws attention!

Any of you other collectors out there have either a 92S or 95P dime in low grade? Say AG/G+?? They are the final two holes in my low grade album.

Apologies Jason, I don't have either of those.

Tim- a rare coin indeed. If it were a Standing Liberty or Washington Quarter, it would be worth a fortune. As a Barber Quarter variety, it seems to go unnoticed. Too bad. Congrats on finding nice examples!

Here is the ex-Brian Greer specimen I have... I previously sold my NGC VG08 to one of our Hayes thread cohorts to help his collection.

EDIT: Looks like I never re-imaged the Greer specimen.

Here's a Barber Quarter that showed up in the mail yesterday back from the grading room. I purchased it at FUN in January in a PCI MS 62 holder. It's a Type I Reverse (scarcer) and I thought it had a decent look:

Who says all coins in PCI slabs are bad?

    I like it.

You just proved that PCI has stricter grading standards than PCGS. :)

Ii would call it XF40... once in a while I have seen something like that overgraded in a XF45 holder.

@erwindoc PCGS calls it as XF-40 Tim @sedulous you know that grade very well, and you're right about the images. It'll be a bit of a surprise when it arrives to see how well they show how it looks in hand.

Note the date placement in comparison with the dentils between the NGC VF20 vs. both XF40's. There is a difference.

Here is another '02-P I like:

Look at the UNUM ribbon. Do you agree there is a mint-made filled end-of-ribbon blob there near the lettering?
