Landis Studios - a new product each week for the last three weeks . . . . !

So, I should have posted these when I saw them, but Ron and Tim have been VERY VERY busy lately.

They seem to be introducing a new design each week.

Here is a link to their site.

I jus received this today. Western Reserve has their 100th anniversary this year so the club let us have one Morgan counterstruck or we can submit what coin we wanted. New members are only allowed one as the olde members were allowed 5 coin submit.
Since I have the only test strike made for the clubs president for the 75th. I had Ron take a blank silver dollar and counterstamp his initials and so forth on it and have a 100th year counterstruck in the center. Shown below with the edge detail.

    Eldorado,

They have a box that says "Notify me when back in stock."

Give them your email. They tend to run strikings of 20 pieces or so at a time, maintaining the "Limited Mintage" aspect of the piece.

You have to act quick when you get the email, because 30 other people also got that email. They can keep demand high with this technique.

Sometimes it's a couple days, sometimes a couple weeks, but you'll get notified. Once you get the email, your name drops off the list and you have to re-sign up if you want another.

They have very few really "limited" to a certain number of total strike pieces. But their engraving and minting is spectacular. The "antiqued" versions used to be only a $5 uptick in price. Now they are $10. Not sure if I would bite if the uptick gets much higher.

I've been doing a LOT of research on a few very old Ron Landis / Gallery Mint website archives lately.

I think I've run across a Landis / GMM piece on just about every page that I have picked up over the past year. I thought it might be fun to show early sales or articles on a few of the pieces I have been fortunate enough to acquire. Many of these references have mintage figures, initial sales prices, and information on the creation of the piece.

    Here is today's installment.

I was the underbidder on that piece. I wanted to go higher but there were other things I was bidding on in that auction as well.

It's a wonderful piece and well worth the price!

Got them back from Anacs a few weeks ago and off to Todd they went for imaging.

I commissioned that piece, actually designed as a chain edge struck pair. I supplied the 1961 impaired proof half for donor with instructions on what I desired. Back in that day these were called "SPECIAL ORDERS" I have seen that one trade 3 times over the last 25+ years. Someone early on kept its mate. Look at bust of dated cent, I had them rotate 2nd strike, that why there's a profile lurking next to 1793

Wow, that's great information! It's amazing to connect this back to you! That's a lot of time and history!

It makes sense that there's another piece to go with this given how its struck. Hopefully the companion will show up some time!

I picked up one of these a while back. I'm finding it very satisfying doing the research on the creation and original sales of some of these Ron Landis / GMM works of art.

Needless to say, it cost me quite a bit more today.

I snuck this one into a different GMM thread, but thought it might have a different audience here. Perhaps @LindyS might know of the origins of this one?

I also thought it might be nice to resurrect this thread as well.

    =================================

I ran across this interesting ANA token by Ron Landis / GMM the other day.

Actually, it's a pair of tokens. Two planchets were struck with a 1977-D Lincoln Cent sandwiched in between.

I just thought it was cool and would fit in well with my oddball collection.

No, it didn't come with the Lincoln Cent unfortunately . . . .

    And we have a WINNER!

Ron did make a VERY LIMITED number of these in .999 silver then gold plated them for a few special customers. That is the information I received from my source for these. They were not heavily publicized as to not impact the demand for the real deals.

Zoid cain't afford the real deal but the limited quantities of these offsets the intrinsic value to me. These fit well into the "Zoid Hoard". I'm not sure how many sets he produced, but what I am thinking is that they number a dozen or fewer. Their weight gives them away. The Full Brasher weighs only 15.8g and the Half Brasher comes in at 7.8g.

    Now I can go and post these into the "$50 or less . . . ." thread, at least I can post the smaller one . . . . . . .

You should keep them both Zoid.

I had a local dealer confirm with his machine that the pair was gold plate.
He commented to me that gold plate tends to display the super shiny aspect.

Mike Bozynski had a number of these that weren't plated. I purchased an unplated silver half doubloon but missed the full one!

Nice pictures of the 1804 set do you have a dedicated camera setup for coins? I recently pickup up the proof set with box as well and really like it 👍 (was actually staring at it last night)

It's all about what the people want...

Thanks, yes a dedicated camera set up, nothing expensive or fancy. I still struggle with the proof fields.

I’ll post a set up pic later
