I picked these up a while ago, but didn't do a show-n-tell when they arrived.
I found a couple of Ron's pewter unstruck planchets. They have raised rims, the edge is engraved GALLERY MINT, and has the image of a little coin press.
I finally took some photos and have them cataloged on Token Catalog. Here is the link, and photos below.
I was at this annual ANA Summer Seminar event. Back then I lived 2.7 miles from ANA Museum/ Colorado College Campus. I rode my mountain bicycle to these events for years. Easy front row parking & safe 3am departures & best of all, no extra housing fees on CC Campus. Those were very good times !!!
These are mini mint screw press strikes. Not hammer struck, sorry.
While Ron and Joe played music and visited with friends, we, the students struck up every bit of the pewter provided. We even joked about it....
What is rare are the normal strikes from this V Jansen Eagle & Landis die pairing. I hope I have one? I've collected up errors since 1979 so there is a real good chance I do not have a normal one.
I likely have photos, 35mm SLR film images I took at this ANA event. Or it was previous year. Or both. I met Ron when he was flying solo at a 1990 or 1991 ANA event in Colorado Springs, before Gallery Mint existed. His Kings Coin Hammer video was awesome. I was blown away and opened my wallet. I bought into Landis goodies prior to GMM realization. My very first exonumia purchases were Ron & Joe's Ren Fest Goodies.
