Interesting find on the bay last week, but first a little history.
I saw this 1989 Minnesota Renaissance Fair Silver piece show up on Landis Studios "Vingage Stock" page, but by the time I noticed it, it had already sold . . . . .
.
.
.
.
I was intrigued by the design and have been hitting Landis Studios Vingate Stock page several times a day hoping another would appear.
Then a week or so ago, I saw a couple interesting GMM pieces that I picked up. I contacted the seller who had a few more vintage brass renaissance fair medals, which I purchased a few of as a lot.
In that lot, I found this brass piece. It appears to be from the exact same dies as the 1989 silver piece above, only this one is looped to wear around your neck.
.
.
I didn't notice the similarity until after it arrived. I was pretty excited to say the least.
Does anyone know if there are other silver / brass Ron Landis / GMM strikes out in the wild?
Ron Landis has a You Tube Video and back in 1992 they filmed a demonstration which included him and Joe Rust
at the Renaissance Fairs in Texas. An 18 minute video but super interesting. For those that have purchased the medals from his website this is the press he made them on but it was moved to Gallerry Mint Museum where more where struck.
. This is his YouTube Chanel
.
.
Its an 18 minute video that's worth every minute watching it.

This is another video where he shows his shop and presses

I started doing it but it was one large PDF. People told me it was too big to download and asked me to break it up so the next idea was to do a website but I haven't found enough time for that.

I would continue with your pdf format as there is nothing better than that. Maybe break into 2 for those who still have AOL broadband

These are great newsletters and a part of history. Of course, many of the pieces in my guide are are not covered in these newsletters with as much content or detailed photos, so they are complementary.
For those that prefer PDFs, I spent some time converting these to PDFs a while back with Ron's blessing. Perhaps it's time to finish the effort?

I missed the ashtray but I found out I'm a diehard!
Joe Rust / Ron Landis makers punch test blank
A few decades ago Ron engraved a pair of punches to be used as maker’s marks for both he and his partner, Joe Rust. This is what Ron used to test the punches. It’s a solid copper pendant blank that was clipped and considered waste.
We thought it was a neat piece that might be of interest to some diehards.

I'll add that I was a bit nervous placing the order for this piece, hoping it didn't disappear mid-order!
One reason i like this piece so much is that while I've seen a number of pieces with Ron's maker's punch, this is the first time I've ever seen Joe's maker's punch used. Joe was an integral part of the Gallery Mint Museum so I take a special interest in pieces that show his contribution.

I agree! I’ve never seen anything with Joe Rust. I did manage to purchase a few things from a family member(daughter I think) such as his 1998 in the presentation box and a few other items.
Me too, from JENGREYCAT, Joe's daughter. She inherited many one of a kind items.
This was back when Verne was still alive & well, keeping his Scrapbook website current. He had articles on his site concerning Jengreycat's treasure trove of one off Gallery Mint goodies offered up on ebay.
I think Verne passed in 2012, Joe in 2005.

One of my favorites is the token Joe and Ron did for her wedding.
One of things that she offered that I should have picked up with a set of copper Texas Renaissance Festival pieces in 4 different sizes.

Presentation coin may be the 1998 Ken Bressett One Concept pieces, not the 2000 dated Concepts. Mine came from a local who was given it by Bressett, it came in a blue felt box.
I may have 6 pieces from her, no groups, just piece by piece. Gallery Mint has a 3 decade following. If you know their products then it becomes evident when things are one off or "Special Orders". Jengreycat's items usually got bid up beyond my limits. My best item of GMM from secondary market was an entire collection of errors made for an important dealer in coin hobby. Over time I casually let the dealer know I desired the entire 400~ish error coins display & one day I got the call, come get it.

Yes, it was a 1998.

I separated my 98 from its box as I noticed years ago box had strong sulfur smell. Your 98 is looking perfect ! I only have one 98. From what I recall Bressett had the 98's struck up & gifted them away to possibly manifest coin hobby's desire for small brass dollars.

i have a few...they aren't in the greatest condition, but they are super cool!
i apologize in advance for the lousy pictures. the coins are all toned and have been improperly handled (not by me). but they still look amazing...way better than pictured, so you'll have to use your imagination a bit.
1799 large cent, bought from coin dealer in asheville, nc
i bought all of these at the ana yn auction in 2016 during the summer seminar
1793 vine and bars edge is the coolest thing!
1793 vine and bars edge brockage
1793 vine and bars edge brockage maker (!!)
proof...why not?
1796 1/2 cent, no pole double struck off-center
1796 1/2 cent, no pole double struck off-center
lmk in a comment if i mislabeled one.
the edges are very well done. there is actually a third side to look at! makes me wish i had a real one, lol.
even though they say copy on them, it's not distracting because the eye is drawn to the artistic details and hammered strike.

I separated my 98 from its box as I noticed years ago box had strong sulfur smell. Your 98 is looking perfect ! I only have one 98. From what I recall Bressett had the 98's struck up & gifted them away to possibly manifest coin hobby's desire for small brass dollars.

Wow !!! I missed this thread containing a vast array of Concepts. You own an awesome collection !!!
Agree 100%!
Stef has an amazing collection, one of the greatest Landis collections I know of!
There are many other great rarities with photos on GMMNut, SmallDollars.com and other sites, but there owner's aren't that public about posting.
Thanks @LindyS and @Zoins ........now to get pcgs to label it correctly. It’s becoming
a very large mountain to climb but I’ll keep trying.

The GMMnut search takes me to a domains for sale site. Is there a link that works ?
All the Gallery Mint links on smalldollars.com take me to domain for sale site also.
i have a few...they aren't in the greatest condition, but they are super cool!
i apologize in advance for the lousy pictures. the coins are all toned and have been improperly handled (not by me). but they still look amazing...way better than pictured, so you'll have to use your imagination a bit.
i bought all of these at the ana yn auction in 2016 during the summer seminar
lmk in a comment if i mislabeled one.
the edges are very well done. there is actually a third side to look at! makes me wish i had a real one, lol.
even though they say copy on them, it's not distracting because the eye is drawn to the artistic details and hammered strike.
Is that actually a half cent with an off center over strike by one cent dies?
yes, i believe that is right.
