I have had this for years and have never found another one online. Only just found Ron Landis and I'm sure it's one of his. Appears to be a limited edition. Anyone know anything about it? I think it's from the 89 renaissance festival.
Ask him. You can contact him through his website or on Facebook.

And, his cravings go way back.....I never really knew either until I started searching his work.
Do you have a comprehensive list of coin-like items he's produced? Does anyone? Does Ron? I imagine the catalog would make for a rather impressive book.

I do believe that you have yourself a bona-fide pre-GMM Ron Landis piece there. As you suspect, it looks to be a serial numbered silver strike.

These are wonderful pieces. It's very cool that you own these. Do you have photos to share?
How many cancelled dies there are? I've seen two die pairs sold. One on Heritage and another on eBay.
Cancelled 1855 Kellogg Gold Relic Restrike Dies
The Dies for Used on the Uncirculated Pieces
1855 MS Kellogg & Co. Relic Gold Restrike Dies. An interesting pair of dies that was used to produce the business strikes of the gold restrikes based on the 1855 Kellogg fifties. Several Kellogg and Humbert ingots from the salvaged ship S.S. Central America were sliced in such a way that only the face of the bar remained. The bullion was then used to produce restrikes that resemble 1855 Kellogg fifties. Both proofs and business strikes were made. In this sale, we also have a set of four business strikes from each of the four days of issue: 8/26/01, 9/3/01, 9/7/01, and 9/12/01.
These dies show no trace of polish in the fields and display a fine-grain texture seen on the circulation strikes. The reverse die is undated, which enabled its usage for all four striking periods. The date was hand-stamped into each individual coin. Each die is cancelled with a rim-to-rim X. As an interesting sidenote, the dies are slightly magnetic. A unique offering.

I don’t have the finished medals. They might be on his website. These are test strikes in silver even earlier then when he added the scroll work on the dragon. They were struck on 2 one ounce bullion rounds because of the extreme relief.

The steampunk is such high relief he had to stick a cent in between the 2 silver rounds.

I don't see it in his store.......maybe sold all of them? I'm fairly certain they were made as uniface medals with his counter stamps on the reverse. Mine are plain, before he counter-stamped them
I really wish I could have raised the funds to purchase one of the Gold Schlag strikes while they were available, but I WAS able to secure the next best item IMHO . . . . .
I got one of the Copper Proof setup pieces he made testing the dies for the gold strikes. So in a sense, this is probably one of the first strikes made from the proof dies.

I'm not really a collector of GMM, but I am a collector of Felix Schlag stuff. The recent offerings fit well into my collection, but I am so slow to find out when these are made/available.
I missed out on so many, but I was able to get the gold Schlag Jefferson repro #17, the last one made.
