OK, so I started to weigh half dollar rolls before I open them in hopes of predicting which ones have silver coins in them before opening. I got two rolls that were significantly over weight compared to the rest of the pack. I saved the heavy weights until last. This was the heavy-weight pretending to be a half-dollar:

I did find 2 40% silver halves also. This is the first walking liberty half dollar that I have found in circulation in 50 years. 1933-S, pretty beat up but still silver! Of course, I gave up CRH along time ago and have just restarted to CRH again in Mar. 2021.

Cool! I thought an off-center by that much should start to make the planchet bigger. The only error I've found was this clipped planchet quarter. Missed silver by one year. It has a pretty strong blakesey which is neat.

Too me , the design marks are all over the place according to the closeness of the AM.
I recall someone saying if the A in STATES is centered then this would be the error.

I don't know what you want here. For the 1992 you want the close AM, not the far AM. On the close AM, the letters AM are almost touching. Your coin is the Far AM variety.
Bank #1 Has some very nice 83, 4, and 5s I know this because I checked some enders on the way home, LOL.
Plus now that I’m home a 45 war nickel bulging from one of the rolls.
Bank #2 Assorted home rolled goodies along with four 2009 clear plastic wrapped early childhood rolls. Then a fifth plastic roll which is still a mystery.
Bank #3 More assortment mixed with some rolls that are labeled with the year, that could get interesting.

In the mid to later 80's the mints had a problem with plating the planchets over zinc dust before they figured it out causing those dreaded "dotted" surfaces. Now does a grading company take points away from that? Or do they take it into consideration the problem the mints had from that time period?

Well I’ve heard (here) that they do count down for those. You couldn’t tell by looking at the CoinFacts 88d and a few others but again maybe they did in fact deduct and they landing on MS68.

This error is quite rare (1992 close AM) and worth adding to your search protocol.
