I was looking for the running-average turnaround times on the pricing page and saw they were gone. When I last saw them a week or two ago, economy/regular was 68 days IIRC. I saw Indy's post that it was removed. I wonder when they'll put up the new numbers.

based off @blurryface's recent economy sub, I'm thinking PSA is working on things that arrived the last week of July or so right now.

    arrived: 7/14
    logged: 8/13
    grading: 9/13
    popped: 11/16
SO.... That would put my 9 card economy order on pace to pop maybe the first week of December when accounting for time missed next week for the holiday.
    arrived 08/10/20
    logged 08/31/20
    grading 09/27

Hopefully they are starting to catch up a little. And I still have no clue where they are on value/bulk orders.

noticed the perfect storm coming. basketball market was on fire & international. last dance. they had the bubble which was a success. first sport back. zero college games and knew there would be little hype on upcoming draft leaving ja, zion & a stellar rookie class that resembled '18 baseballs rookie class still front and center coupled w an extremely short off season. covid had people left at home w nothing to do, nothing to bet on and flush w cash. sneaker and wall street boys moving in. so i spent the covid break strategizing and for entertainment as well jumping in breaks on instagram. and yes, purchased a lot, had a ton of fun, put in a ton of work but it seems to have been a very, very wise and perfectly timed strategy w the cards rolling back in just as the next season is about to start back up. submitted over 4000 cards and still have a ton of lower tiered cards to eventually submit. when you can buy a $800 box and have the chance to pull 20+ cards that can grade out at $500 a piece, it was a no brainer. plus, i am mainly a vintage guy but got to learn a lot of new things. amazed at how the hobby has grown and transformed. great getting outta my comfort zone / shell.

  • The timeline for Express submissions on the bubble now no longer says 15 business days but just the turn around times effected language that regular has now. Also kind of frustrating that the submission dashboard still leads you to the page that used to have days on it.

Just went to enter a submission and noticed this: PSA is experiencing a high volume of submissions, and as a result, submission processing times have been impacted. From the time of delivery, it will take up to 11 weeks to enter your submission into processing.

    Thanks,

Fortunately, 11 weeks seems to be an under promise, over deliver thing at this point. I sent in 4 value orders in mid-October. PSA’s website had the 11 week disclaimer up when mine were mailed. They are all logged at this point. One took 2 weeks. The others were closer to 5 weeks.

not sure how many here have multiple orders in, but you know what would be really REALLY nice?

    1. being able to archive your older orders. have to scroll back thru 4 pages, w/ a lot of those being completed orders, to check status on older bulk subs since status row doesn't do its job.

Not sure if anyone ever answered this point -- but if you merely tap the SHIPPED column will show any N/A open subs from the oldest to newest in descending order . Helps me to see whats open ( I know by sight what level they are). I then just check them quickly using the far right where there is a magnifier- type in my sub # and bam up pops status. Takes me about 2 minutes to check 20 different subs in their various stages.

yes, i use that function. however w 21 back pages of completed subs dating back to '11, i'd like to just archive those similar to what most people do w their emails.

This is the case. You will not see grades until shipping. At least, this has been my experience and understanding. QA2 is the final stage prior to grade release. Good luck with your grades.

Hmmmm. With all due respect, unless it comes directly from PSA I take these comments with a grain of salt. I personally think PSA is more ahead of the game than that.

I hope that isn't true. Insane. :( I know that PSA is inundated but that simply will be unacceptable to many. I understand supply v demand, but there are two sides to that equation. Right now, the demand side is overflowing. At some point, the market typically corrects itself to become more balanced (e.g., competition enters, service improves, saturation occurs). I would never submit at the value level knowing it will take a full year. Heck, the market could certainly change over that time as might a person's life situation. Months, I certainly understand. Years, no way. I wouldn't be surprised if a new player in the grading market with big time investment backing and highly targeted marketing enters in the future.

Hopefully, PSA will catch up and I know they are trying.

right now, i'd say the average for bulk is 6-8 months from the time cards hit the door. not logged. with the price increases, elimination of the economy level for individual submitters & the holiday season upon us, i'd say that 6-8 month window will start dwindling back down to a solid 6 month avg wait time come january.

if that's accomplished consistently, i can see economy opening back up during the second quarter but bumped from a $20 for 20 day scenario to a $30 for 30. then closing economy level back down on a "need to" basis if & when things get massively overloaded again.

this is based off zero friends or inside knowledge whatsoever. more of just a hunch from a practicality level.

cool, just wanting to gauge how long before bulk orders ship. hearing a week+ at this point.

  • waiting 6 months to a year is just discouraging for many. I have 500 plus cards at 5 months at this point. I have a friend who has 200 plus cards at the same 5-6 months. between the 2 of us, we could easily submit another 1000 cards. We haven't looked at anything or considered putting anything together as it is just discouraging to have your cards gone for so long with zero expectations of when you may get them back.

at some point, I suspect others will do the same and unless the process improves, the short term windfall will give way to long term value destruction. the increase in pricing has made many cards that were once good gambles become better cards to sell raw. if the ultra modern wave stops which anyone who has been through the highs and lows knows it will, the question becomes did psa discourage the dedicated core to the point that they no longer support the product. time will tell but i for one who has been a dedicated PSA supporter/submitter for 15 years know that I have stopped hunting and stopped culling cards for submission because it is not an enjoyable or worthwhile experience to wait 8-12 months plus to get your cars back

I am not saying the above scenario will end psa but it will likely create a period of low revenues that make the investors do drastic things and that is usually a bad situation for collectors or the product. cheers!

say this w all due respect. it's time to wake up. ultra modern isn't going away and neither is a 6 month timeline. you probably don't have it, but just jump on IG and look how many accounts just for cards and breakers there are. 10s of thousands of boxes being ripped live each day. as for price points, those are only going to go back up. realize that they had to eliminate the $20 level. and why? well it wasn't because it wasn't popular. in fact, $15 bulk probably won't even be in play for much longer.

you've been sitting on the sidelines for how long just waiting for a shorter lag time and it's only gotten longer? realize this isn't 2005 anymore. so just yank those panties out, send the cards in and just get in line. prolly coulda had one of those subs back by now. again. i said with all due respect.

I don't understand at all. Are you suggesting the 50% increase in prices for an ultra modern value submission has caused more people to submit? Do you really think PSA likes having boxes upon boxes of cards waiting to earn revenue, rather than have the revenue? I think PSA wants the volume to slow down so that it can get the turnover rates under control, and I'm mystified why anyone would think otherwise.

  • I am saying we have seen this over and over since collectibles became an investment it's only an investment when there are buyers. sure there are ton's of breakers at the moment. where were they 2-3 years ago? a year ago? there were also tons of buyers for 88 donruss and beanie babies at one point.

I do this for fun but waiting a year to get back submissions isn't fun and I have chosen not to submit. I am not alone. psa is probably fine with those decisions right now. but when the fly by night investors/breakers slow down , they will probably wish they paid a little more attention to the people that kept them in business for the last 20 years. maybe I am wrong , probably I am wrong , but I have been involved in this hobby long enough to see many boom and bust cycles so but I guess like anything else in life, we can always think this time is different.

well jsut read blurryface's posts, he will tell you that the volume is not going to slow no matter what they charge and it will never be under control.

I think he is also saying which is probably true but the days of the vintage set builders are done if prices will be a minimum of 15 bucks for any grade at this point. psa is evolving to satisfy what they think (what is currently) the most profitable client( pack breakers) and the rest will be put aside. maybe they will act like beckett and come out with a new line of "psa vintage grading" , who the heck knows........

    yes. yes you are.

so they weren't backed up 2-3 years ago? even amidst major controversy?

first of all never said "never be under control". besides, what would you define as "under control"? then we can continue w/ a discussion. until then...

but as for volume, no. i don't see it going down. not w the emergence of breakers, pokemon & mtg gaming cards becoming so popular and the emergence of non-sports cards gaining the traction they are. peruse your own board here, bum. half the threads are mtg, pokemon, wrestling and even golf card related these days. back in your day, those cards wouldn't even make up 1% of total submissions. pokémon cards themselves now have their own category. so does ultramodern. and after you've read your own board, maybe you'll realize there's tons of new posters daily and guess what? they aren't asking about your '69 topps al dark card. yes, i have a '69 al dark 9, btw. it's a special card and year, so please don't think i'm knocking what you collect one bit.

and quit being so obtuse, warden. they aren't catering to any singular segment of cards. they are catering to everyone and have even tiered the pricing accordingly. you just seem angry in general about the new kids and your subs taking an extra month or so. you want the whole beach to bum around on and i'll be first to tell you, you never had it in the first place. july 4th weekend is here for good. so either mark your spot or enjoy your mixed set w half raw half graded simply because you resist to exercise a little more patience and/or adapt. collectors of all shapes and sizes are a good thing.

  • someone didn't take their meds or only has it in them to be argumentative and a borderline you know what but best of luck> @blurryface said:

I don't know bud, the bulk of my orders including bulk from 2018 and 2019 were done in a few weeks. the longest I ever waited was 2 months and never waited for anything to be entered from delivery so I have no idea what you are talking about.

exiting your lawn now , what the heck does that mean......
