When my first box of 5 comes, I'm going to open it up and take a real close look... (The one I have isn't close to being grade worthy.)
Let me see. The one I have now has a Barber. Of the five, one will have an SLQ, one a pre-64 Washington, one will have a 1776-1976, one will have an eagle back, and one will be a MS70PL that I'll send in to have graded.
I have a feeling this is going to end up being a collector debacle but a huge money maker for PCGS.
There is zero evidence that there is anything special about these Kennedy coins other than, POSSIBLY, early die states on some. Unless there are a lot of Kennedy collectors who are also plastic collectors and want the "rocketship" label, there is simply going to end up being a record number of Kennedy's submitted for grading. If there is an early price surge as people chase 68 an 69 coins that will simply encourage more submissions of mint set coins which will ultimately create a glut. And once people have picked over the rockets for 68 or 69 level coins, the remaining rocketships are going to be a $3 item on eBay.
Hi guys. I received no report back yet on any of my RS submission coins so I can only assume that lovely MS69 is not mine. But, at least I have hope now!

Just got around to doing a close inspection of the 19XGC 2019 Proof Rocketship Sac.
Found some interesting MDD on the reverses. Examined six sets and five have the same issues to varying degree.
This is the worst of the lot. Wow, where is Mint quality control?

I wonder if I have that and will PCGS give it a special designation when they grade mine next week?
I am waiting on a PCGS grading of ms70pl on these Kennedy coins. Only 50,000 made in "enhanced finish" ( ok so the coin does not glow in the dark) but it does make this a low mintage coin that Kennedy collector's will want.

If you read back on this thread, the "enhanced" or "special" finish on these sets was debunked as nothing special. However, they do seem more "proof-like" than normal business strikes, thus the grading services are willing to hand out PL designations -- a first. We won't really know until the 2019 Unc Mint Sets come out to compare.

The Kennedy bags and rolls come out two weeks earlier than the unc sets, on May 1. I haven’t purchased an unc set since the satin finish days like 10 years ago; the current sets don’t have specially handled coins, do they?

Thanks for that clarification -- supposedly the Mint Sets are handled "with care". The Rockets are very baggy -- I've looked through over a hundred and a 69 seems unlikely.

If they do sell out, that means I have a bunch of last strike sets again...
I might fight you for the last strike pedigree. I also ordered early last week, shown as shipped on the Mint site but on the USPS site, is shown as "Awaiting for Label" or similar language.

Well this is a surprise. Now I have to figure out what I’m going to do with the ones I bought to give to YN’s.
Give it to them...unmodified.
As soon as I got those rockets, I packed them in shipping enevelops and mailed them out w/o looking at the coins. They are now being enjoyed as a rocket toys.
Of course, I did get some extras that were supposed to be for SILs/BILs gifts... but these have beem diverted.

I have to agree 100% on the rockets being very baggy. I have not seen a "NICE" one yet. There is always the label route. Our host will give the Rocket Ship label as long as it is still in the unopened cellophane. A low mintage "set label" for $9.95 per set from mint and $12 per Kennedy if you hurry and take advantage of the quarterly special and submit in multiples of four. No other 2019 D Kennedy's out yet so it would be nice to not have to submit the whole set but I was told you have to. The $1 proof coin does not have to be graded but must be counted for the return shipping cost.
Mine arrived today finally. Without my 100 W cents I ordered.
The half is indeed proof like in appearance with a very mirror like surface and extremely reflective Mine has minimal contact marks or hits. The marks are on packaging
It looks like the have struck through damage on the ear and from the lobe like an earring. Might be pmd but under magnification I do not see any ridges or scratching of the surface.

I just don't see any mirror like on the Kennedy you posted. I have not seen any real PL on the one's I have/had. The reverse certainly has a hit or two. Sometimes it is just best to step away and really look at it rather then seeing what isn't there.
Is your package coming SmartPost? You have to check with FedEx tracking. USPS has no knowledge of the package until FedEx hands it off.
Exactly....and...I found out that the USPS is unable to track that number even after it gets into their hands. I had an issue with a Mint shipment being put in my home mailbox even though my mail is held for transfer to my vacation location. The supervisor had to send my loser postman to get it out of the box and forward it to me....but the supervisor could not access the tracking info

thx for the info but....
DAMMIT, I just want the packages delivered onto my hand (not just an update on where my package is or stuck at where)!!
The comments that followed that statement suggested entering the tracking number in the correct site (not USPS) to find out its' progress. "Shipped last week" via Smartpost does not mean it should have arrived by now.

Adding 92 in front of the fedex smartpost tracking number will be the tracking for USPS.
It will just say awaiting package until fedex hands it off to them

I have several of the rocket Kennedy's in hand and they are proof like. How they will grade is a wait and see situation. PCGS's does list Kennedy's with the PL designations. Verify cert #31466760. This is a 2014-s silver Kennedy that is in my registry set. There are also DMPL designations for this coin. If you mean a "first" for an "enhanced" finish, I would agree that this would be a first. Happy collecting and watch out for the first uncertified coin on Ebay listed as a "real glow in the dark coin" but was hand painted with a day glow paint and guaranteed to be a mint original. $10,000 or best offer. LOL
I just bought one of these "real" glow in the dark coins, not glow in the dark cardboard. Only 4,000 minted and .999 silver.
I thought they were rather interesting including the egg shape. Although colorizing coins is usually not very popular around here, the Mint up North does come up with some unique low mintage collectables. That concept may help increase hobby demand for a different group of collectors, that I think we could benefit from. Plus we can even have a different obverse design

Well, maybe not the last one, but I can hope...
Why do they show the mintage as 6.1M? The Mint is only showing 1.7M 2019-D Kennedys...
Looks like copy/paste from 2018-D; a temp number.

That is a good question. Should know more in a couple days when the new sales numbers are posted in a couple days.
Has there ever been a stealth sale on a weekend? (I don't know. I normally get what I want when it's available.)
Maybe PFSWeb needs the okay (or has to be told) to put X sets on sale from the Mint, and they're closed on the weekend.
If they do sell out, that means I have a bunch of last strike sets again...
They did last year for the reverse proof sets.
To be clear, Wed, Thr, Fri of last week.
