My 5 sets shipped today. Hoping for the "unfrosted B" variety, LOL..
This could be 2008 reverse of 2007 all over again!

it's also a case of the mint making too many different collectibles, you can pick up a older proof set for as little as 5 dollars, some people would rather collect the cheap older stuff. collectors only have so much money. it took me close to a year to sell off my EU sets, I only bought a few of these as one of the quarters is my home state
This is so true. I used to purchase a proof set every year (silver ones after they restarted issuing them in the 90s) along with each commemorative issue/set, plus a good portion of the PM issues. No mas. It got to be too much money spent on something that 99% of the time, with a few exceptions, goes down in value. I am very selective in what I purchase directly from the mint now.
Nevertheless, I am firmly still active in the hobby. My interests are more focused. I am sure I'm not the only one out there that has chosen this path...
the 2014 Kennedy Silver 50th Anniversary Set 4 coin Set with the Kennedy reverse proof half took a long time to sell out too, issue price 99.98, that's what they sell for now
Of little use at this point as the bulk buyers are in the mix. They could easily buy 10,000 sets in one order.
If they did, it would be sold out. Tells me, not much interest from the bulk buyers in this product.
It might be a lot of factors.
The bulk buyers learned from last year. All those large EU returns wasn't from someone like you or me. And they won't be able to return to the Mint anymore without getting a check on their naughty list. It's also more of a gamble at 2x the entry price (over the cost of the EU set.)
The new return policy has probably put a halt to the cherry pickers and walk through graders, too. The high mintage killed the flipper market.
I suspect this set may sell like any other annual set (or any other Mint product, for that matter). Big sales the first three or four weeks, then it flatlines to a couple, three thousand per week, due to casual website visitors, who have no idea this set exists because they're not numis... coin guys. How long this product goes before selling out depends on those first few weeks sales, before it starts on that slow, lingering death on the website.
While I was assuming 4 or 5 sets per order, I personally ordered 5 sets in three separate orders with the intention of adding to my plain brown box collection. With free shipping, I can see more doing that, even if it's to space out your orders so if an error does appear, you have a better shot. The number of sets/order may be lower than I think.
Anyway, we won't know until Tuesday's numbers. The first day sales may not be meaningful, since sales were artificially constrained with a HHL, but Tuesday's numbers will represent a full week of sales.

The point is that you can't trace the sales to the number of retail customer orders anymore. If they bought 100, or 500, or 1000, it makes the retail orders pale in comparison after the HHL was lifted.
Since they appear to do about 2000 orders on a normal day and we went from ***25600 to 26400 in 3 hours and 30 minutes, we are approaching baseline. We've got 800 orders in the 4 hours during the middle of the business day.
Considering past reverse proof issues, the price point is quite appealing. I don't care how quickly it sells out, the reverse proofs continue to evoke collector interest for a long time to come.
Personally, I like the set, and think it will do relatively well compared with typical silver proof sets, especially if the Mint does not issue these annually.
I have checked 5 sets so far. One set looks really pretty good except for the Block Island which most seem to have issues with obverse light scratches on George. All have clear Liberty's on cents and all have long E top line vs bottom. Nothing bad with spots or rim damage. The obverse of the quarters is tough as lots of flaws seen at an angle on many as it is now the shiny part. Kennedy's seem to have a tiny spot or scratch usually. All have S's of course, even the ones on the edge.
Edited to say it got the wife approval factor for the set as she said. "Wow, those sure look different (and nice) when she watched me studying them.

Is there any ghost of a flipper market left at all? Are flippers still flipping. ? Flippers flopping? Floppers flipping or Floppers flopping?
It takes a climbing market to make flipping sustainable. Most are getting wiped out in PMs, especially those selling before they buy.
No Way Out: Stimulus and Money Printing Are the Only Path Left
I finally found an error! The one, and probably not only, upside down Roosevelt dime. Must be worth an extra dime for the novelty. Of course it is the only one right side up on the reverse and is just some glitch in who or what put it into the plastic, not really an error.

I like the finish on these. Very nice.

I find the Lincoln's look really nice, The obverse Jefferson as well. Both the nickel and dime have full bands and steps and the detail is nice. The Kennedy and quarters seem to be a bit rougher. I really like the quarter George obverse when you get one with full mirror on him. But surprisingly I like the Sacajawea a lot. The obverse pops and the Jim Thorpe, Wa-Tho-Huk, reverse is a great design and really works for this coin.

I agree about the dollar. I like it, but don't know how many Sac collectors there are.....

I had a worse error - Two ATB quarter sets in one box!

Based on the EU set, there are more Sac collectors than nickel or dime collectors.

I fell victim to my ongoing addiction to Internet Mint Buying Syndrome and ordered 5 Sets .... twice ( 5 Sets X 2 orders = 10 Sets total). This was on Monday about 12:30. Sometime on Tuesday I started coming down from the delusional cloud I'd been stuck in.
I now want out. Delivery might come as soon as today? Any suggestions on how to get out in this new era of no returns ? Of course I want to check for that elusive " Frosted Freedom" type mega error first.

More silver is a bad thing?
Yes. The half is worth 50% more than the quarter set. The cent is worth as much as 80% of the quarter set. Even the Sac is worth 50% of the quarter set.
I don't know why anyone thinks the silver in these sets is an efficient way to buy bullion. I would much prefer no silver in these sets at $30
I'll gladly send you as many quarter sets as you want, straight up for the other 5 coins? Are you in?

I haven't bought one product from the mint this year. My mint purchases are over. Even the palladium proof this year is not a good investment with the $300 markup over melt.
Comments
that's in the plastic
I can't tell if that's just the plastic or if the coin is also affected.
Don't quote me on that.
I guess that's better than the Frosty B variety....
Don't quote me on that.
al sets need to be checked to see if they show a shiny B. the B looks unfrosted in the voids.
are they all like that or is this the variety people are hoping for?
Actually I should of gotten $2600.00 this year but our Government tapped into my piggy bank they are only giving me $1600.00 this year I am Piss@d!
Holy Moly Ring Dings and funny looking B's. Too bad I wont be opening my boxes until my grandbaby opens it up 20+ years from now.
What are all the spots?
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
The same spots on the EU sets...orange crud...although I've seen some black crud too..
Don't quote me on that.
Here is the top fat E variety.

this might not be a bad move, check out what the 2014-W Kennedy reverse proof halves are selling for and those have a higher population

I broke up the first 50 sets that I got to sell the pieces. This is another set that appears to be worth more in pieces than whole.
Hmmm.
I assumed that dealers would have the same 2% return rate as the hoi polloi
do dealers have the same 2% returns limitation?
No Silver Dollar No real interest for me. after all Who Collects Half Dollars, Quarters and Pennies?

well if everyone sends back their extra sets , the remainder will be super low mintage say less than 150,000 and worth keeping.
My US Mint Commemorative Medal Set
still not hot, but i think fewer dealer returns will keep the sales numbers up....
assuming dealers have a 2% return restriction, too. but where is the 'gem bu' stuff coming from if not from fewer dealer returns because of the 2%?
and the big fish have eaten their first bites
I passed out my problems in the past, and don't wish to add anymore to circulation. That said, I hope the reverse proof I get is "problem free."
The enhanced finished rusty crud Sacs went along with the tips I left to waitresses. Maybe the mint does this on purpose to stimulate the hobby?
I'm just a pawn in a game...
They will sell them for 2 or 3 years if need be.
looks like li8erty to me
