"....see younger people tossing coins, from change, into the trash or on the ground..." I have heard this from other sources.... never actually witnessed it. Seems so strange, especially to those of us who grew up when a cent could actually buy something.... Cheers, RickO

3 pennies going into the grocery store and one on the floor by the check out. 4 tennis balls by the tennis courts and 9 cans.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

Now you have tennis balls? Next you will be walking by the golf course for golf balls... :D Nice finds... Cheers, RickO

I was up early this morning so I went for a walk while the coffee was brewing. Found a penny near a storm drain, I grabbed it. Also stumbled upon an underground yellow jacket nest. I ran like a little sissy boy.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

Yikes... those ground dwelling yellow jackets are mean..... I would have run as well.... Cheers, RickO

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

Great PPC.... Now that school is back in session you will have a much improved revenue stream.... Do you declare this income?? :D:D:D Cheers, RickO

Yesterday I Had a 40 minute walk and found 18 1/2 cents and 16 cans. Today only 16 cans. Stopped by the bank to deposit some roll searched halves. 3 quarters 3 dimes a nickel and 3 pennies in the reject tray before I started. I knew that I ha $450 to start with but was short $4.50 when I finished. I asked if they would check the reject tray on the inside of the machine. Sure enough there were 9 halves there

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

Glad you recovered your halves.... Was the 1/2 cent a corroded zincoln? Cheers, RickO

Found a dime while walking around outside the building where I work.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

Nice find... I rarely find dimes on the ground... I guess their reflective surfaces make them obvious to people...and the effort to bend over and pick them up is worth more than for a cent. ;) Cheers, RickO

  • WhiteTornadoWhiteTornado Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭

This dime was a bit camouflaged in that it was beat up with little luster. Of course, expert eyes like all of us have can spot that in no time flat ;)

The place we get our dog food has a big bottle redemption area. We usually stack our cans and bottles in the shed for a few months before redeeming them and use the funds towards the dog food. Went today and there was a receipt on the floor for 60 cents by one of the machines.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

Now, I have found coins, currency, even redeemable lottery tickets and jewelry... but never a redeemable receipt.... new area to check.... :D Cheers, RickO

  • Downtown1974Downtown1974 Posts: 6,977 ✭✭✭✭✭

Haha. Yea when you're done putting all of your cans and bottles in the machine, it spits out a receipt that you bring to the cashier to exchange for cash. I've had good luck there in the past. Once someone left a whole bag full of plastic bottles because they didn't want to wait for the clerk to empty the machine after it was full.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

Well now... there are about four of those machines at my local market... I always go in the door before them and leave the same way... need to change my route.... ;) Cheers, RickO

Quarter, penny and 35 cans yesterday. When we visited Washington DC in 1994 you could find all kinds of Metro tickets that were still good

  • WhiteTornadoWhiteTornado Posts: 2,102 ✭✭✭

CoinStar bins have been empty lately. I even went by a couple at stores I don't frequent very much.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

I agree... empty coinstar's all around... for almost two weeks now...Cheers, RickO

  • pocketpiececommemspocketpiececommems Posts: 6,046 ✭✭✭✭✭

Found a penny at the gas station. It's been awhile. Pulled a hamstring after a workout two weeks ago. No detecting either. Need to get healed

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

That is better than I have done PPC..... been real barren in parking lots, coinstars, checkout lines....I am beginning to feel like that cartoon character years ago (in Lil' Abner) - that always walked around with a cloud over his head ... Joe Btslplk I think... :D:D Cheers, RickO

a nickel and a penny in the street picking up walnuts and 2 pennies in a parking lot

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

I see the squirrels here running around with walnuts in their mouth... still do not know where they get them .....Cheers, RickO

  • Downtown1974Downtown1974 Posts: 6,977 ✭✭✭✭✭

Sorry Ricko. It's probably from my house. My wife keeps filling the damn bird feeders and leaves nuts out for the wood peckers. She won't be happy until I get mauled by a bear one morning leaving for work.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

@Downtown1974 ....better carry bear spray and an airhorn... :D:D Or, like my nephew... just run at them, screaming and waving your arms.... Darn bears take off running when he does that....Probably a good thing, I think he would strangle them if they did not... :D Cheers, RickO

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

Nice... dollar bill while walnut picking... was the marble glass or clay? There are a lot of blue Bennington's - clay marbles.... Cheers, RickO

@Treashunt.... Holey moley Frank.... how much mall and parking lot walking do you do?? That is a lot of coins.... I normally walk from my car and back, through the mall to the store(s) I intend to patronize. I do look at all times...To find what you find, you must spend hours .... at least it is good exercise.... Cheers, RickO

I just walk around, early, pre-opening.

That was just two lots, of about 5.

    It took about 2 hours

During Christmas time I often find dollar bills.

Other times, I have found a man's gold [14Kt] bracelet, and a silver ring
