Have you asked the seller to cancel the transaction?
Jeff, Here's another idea. Inform seller that your PayPal has been hacked into by the Chicoms and you'll need his address to mail a payment. Then go to remote closet in your home and take out your Monopoly game. Extract one crisp, light gold C-note. (You can add a fin as a tip for excellent communication) Send payment along with a note saying that once coin is received and authenticated you'll send another payment.

Nice photo line up. I note the dentils under both 1&1 are shorter and smaller in kind on each example. Seems a match. I'm going with "score!" Vote for the time being. Now I'll click the link and see the story. : )
And by the way, I NEVER tire of Vern's quarter set! Just fantastic.
We're all born MS70. I'm about a Fine 15 right now.
Edit: I have no doubts that the coin is genuine. The positioning of the One's ( 1 ) in the date match up.
The cast counterfeit look, as Fade mentioned, has to be Enviornmental Damage. Yes, it's very porous.
Still a high VF detailed coin though. I have no idea what a coin like that is worth these days. Need to check Heritage's website. If it were gradable, I would think it was worth the sunny side of $25,000. As is, I have no clue.

Eh, nothing jumps out at me and screams counterfeit, the porosity could easily be the result of acidic soil and that is what is making you think "cast counterfeit", in my humble opinion. The mintmark and date placement all look fine to me when compared to barberkeys' example posted about 15 posts back.

Bumping it along to turn the page. Mike,I could never see that coin being worth 25K if genuine!
I think Vern's coin could reach those heights. This coin is Rebounding in price since the market decline in 2009. My AU 55 was bought at the height of the market and I was happy to trade it towards the MS 63 - 1892-O Micro O Half. My 55 is available somewhere ( lost track of where - last heard it was in Beymer's inventory - but he sold it. ). He was asking $47,500...
It was not the nicest 55 I have seen. There is one in 55 that puts the AU 58 to shame. The owner said he'd never sell. Well, he's older than dirt, so, it's going to sell sometime sooner rather than later. { I have secured the financing to pay for it once it hits the market. }
I just downloaded images of my latest Secure Plus submissions. Feel free to make a stab at the grades. ( I need to get off the IPad to do this ...)
One of my favorites:
One of the toughest coins in the entire Half Collection...
Another prize ... I was shocked at the price of this, !!
.
Just one sweet coin - and surprised it didn't grade higher...
Not too thrilled with this one - but thought it might get a better grade - I guessed wrong...
This is a look I love - I think of of the nicer 1896's I have seen, IMHO
Funny, in hand, the dip residue is not visable...the camera doesn't lie... it sees things we don't ...
One of the nicer 05-O's I have seen. It received a "+" upgrade when I submitted it...

Hello all. I'm new to the forum but not new to coin collecting. I recently un-earthed the find of a lifetime (as I see you've already learned) a 1901 S Barber Quarter. I tried to up-load pics of it but I'm having trouble. I decreased the size of each pic to 40kb and attached the files but they don't seem to show up in the attachments bar or in my preview? Help? thanks!

Hi,Welcome to the forum! If yours is the coin on ebay you should end the listing and spend the money to have it authenticated by PCGS!
Ok, I got strong armed into it. Here's my detecting find. Found it last week. No doubt in my mind about it's authenticity. It's got some environmental damage from 100+ years in the harsh Idaho soil, but it retained a ton of detail. I'm looking for private collectors or considering auctions. Either way it will be slabbed. Thanks for looking! You're suggestions/impressions are welcome!
