I'm planning to keep my coins raw. All this label stuff has become more convoluted than it's worth, imo.

So Chicago for sure but I thought their FB announcement made it clear that they would go on sale at the mint kiosks as well. Maybe I read it wrong. The cut and paste is below.
We know many of our fans are excited about the upcoming 50th Anniversary Kennedy Half-Dollar Gold Proof Coin. This exquisite coin will go on sale August 5 at noon ET. Coins will be sold via our website, www.usmint.gov, toll-free number, 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468), in limited quantities at our sales centers (while supplies last and subject to change) and at the American Numismatic Association’s World’s Fair of Money in Chicago.

Seems like it wouldn't be too difficult for the big dealers to have their people buy tons of them from the Mint kiosks on the East Coast on 8/5... and then drive them overnight to Chicago to have them graded with the Chicago labels on 8/6-8/8. Probably a lot cheaper for the big time dealers to do it that way instead of buying them for large premiums from collectors at the ANA show. Wouldn't be hard to pay folks a much smaller amount to wait in the lines at the kiosks (which will certainly be smaller than at the ANA) and get as many coins as you wanted. PCGS and NGC can't require a proof of purchase at the Chicago ANA as the dealers buying quantity from the collectors right at the show wouldn't have any proof of purchase either.
<< <i>I think this coin will look good with a regular FIRST STRIKE label or NO label at all. Not a huge fan of the Kennedy special labels being offered nor the coin itself.. >>
But, but....what about those willing to pay 300% because you bought your PF70 at a coin show?
Still haven't got a response as to who "those" are......

Kinda makes you wonder how those HOF mega purchases will fair when it sinks in that the only difference to my Pf/MS 70's is where they were purchased.....
The previous ANA events with early sales by the mint at the ANA of unshipped coins that had already been ordered by customers was a surprise and under the radar.
These proof gold Kennedys are not under the radar, nor have they already been ordered by John Q Public.
I like easy money and thought about going to the show to get in on the ANA Kennedy proofs, but as the promotion increased and the word got out, I'm out like an infield fly ball.
I'll watch WGN news on Aug 5/6 to see if it turns out to be a fustercluck.

No...that makes perfect sense....it's the 3rd party losers that will maybe buy them from the dealers at "300%" over cost.....
Going to the show and dumping immediately is the perfect scenario....let the big boys take a chance with finding some losers that will pay a huge premium for a coin just because it was sold at a coin show....
Definitely take advantage and freaking get out fast....
<< <i>I apologize if this has already been stated, but it would solve some of the issues (and yes, create others) if they announced that they were bringing 100,000 to the show, with no purchase limits, and that they had an armored car ready to roll with the next 100,000. >>

ANA Sales Note: ...NGC will designate these coins with the “ANA INAUGURAL RELEASES” pedigree...Coins must be submitted to NGC at the ANA show to receive this special pedigree. Original purchase receipt required.
Reason for this? Can't a submitter normally submit coins on behalf of others without question? Is NGC saying only the buyer can submit these coins at the show? If so, will submitter have to first join NGC if not a member?

the 500 coin availability each day will be a problem. it surprises me that there would be a limit of more than one /pp
and the point about a line "allowed to form at 11amCT" ----I cant wait to see how they handle that one!!!!!
<< <i>The Mint will have only 2,500 of the gold coins available for sale at the show, with 500 made available per day. Each day, sales will open at 11:00 AM CT when people will be allowed to line up and the Mint will distribute tickets. >>
" At the convention and Mint retail locations, there will be a limit of two coins per person. The Mint indicated that they might consider adjusting the limit at the ANA convention after the first day of sales.
Wouldn't be surprised to see it go from two to one if evidence shows organized buying.

the low availability at the show guarantees a price move in excess of 4x Mint price .. what a mob scene this will be especially Tuesday .. lines for the coin will be blocks even before show opens....just standing in line will net over $500 per person

this doesn't imply there will be any lines before that time.
I have no idea what to expect, I don't think they do either.......
maybe big mass of people standing about 20 feet back from the USM table at 10:59am? and then rushing to form a line? >>
One can only hope that chaos will not happen...if the mint has any clue at all. The ticket is a good idea if it is impliminted well. The question is how will they handle this. If well then bravo. If as badly as expected then it will be a mess with lots of post about how poor it was.
I realize this thread is titled to be about Gold Kennedys, but the Mint Blog mentioned firstly about a two-coin set for $9.95. Are these coins the same as those found in the 2014 mint sets?

there is ZERO chance some sort of line will NOT form prior to 11:00am... but look at this... if a max of 500 coins per day .. that means only 250 -300 persons MAX will be able to buy the gold kennedy Tuesday.. throw in all the dealers that want the coin .... it spells CHAOS!!!!! . Mint has really messed this up Now this coin will be worth more than $1,500 than the Mint charges.. think people will not turn into animals ?????
I wish everyone the best in selling their "bought at a coin show" coins to the dealers. I wish I could be there with you.
But.....I REALLY hope the dealers get spanked on this one and nobody pays the predicted huge markup for these just because of where they were bought. Maybe it will slap some sense into the market....
Key point......MINTED TO DEMAND....STARTING WITH 40K AVAILABLE.....CRANK 'EM OUT MINT!
Wait till the same person everyday keeps winning the lottery. Then they will really have 10 not 2. And the dealers will really have a conniption! This will be a cluster of epic proportions!
HOF silver mintage is 400k and take the usmint over 4 months plus to mint it. if the mint release Kennedy silver let say begin of October which mean the mint only has 2 months to mint it. if the mint cannot fulfill all order by end of 2014, can they continue making 2014 coin next year?

<< <i>I don't see any indication of an "announcement" >>
Go to my post above from Monday at 3:53 and read. I copied and pasted it there for all on the forum to see.
The info on the teleconference is only one sentence long and is very clear about what is going to happen.
Louis will have the details of the announcement in his next article and I will post a link here. His articles are usually on Monday
so the info may show up somewhere before that.
edited to add for those who don't want to read the whole column, Louis mentioned the teleconference in the comments section below his article.
That is the way he adds the latest info between his weekly articles.
