here you go again, eric, you can't "face the music" when your Team loses and discuss it, you sink into this mode. sure, they focused on Korver and made him look bad. what about Terry Rozier?? the genius of Brad Stevens kept letting him get switched onto Lebron who ate his lunch time and time again.
things happen and matchups get figured out by good coaches. we are watching two guys find those match ups.
I will say this much --- if Rozier finds his stride tomorrow the Cavs are in trouble. the same with Korver, if his shot is falling the Celtics are in trouble because it is difficult to defend. these are two really good shooters, do they deserve our scorn?? I think not

Game 4 of the WCF tonight from the cozy confines of Roaracle Arena.
Will Houston show up and compete; or will Houston go silently into the night?
My suspicion is that Houston will play lights out. If that happens and if GS also plays it's "A" game tonight's contest will be a high scoring, highly entertaining affair.
I think both teams will be playing with a sense of urgency as a Houston loss will likely mean it will lose the series; and a GS loss will restore home court advantage and all momentum back to Houston.
There's also a chance that Andre Iguodala doesn't play tonight as well. I know they had listed as doubtful for game 4,he wouldn't be a huge loss but its one less player for Houston to worry about.
the first two involved Cavs players throwing the ball off of Celtics. Hill did it when he was going out of bounds and saved a possession, JR Smith bounced an in-bounds pass off of someone with like 1.8 on the shot clock, grabbed it and shot. heads up to think of that.
then there was one under the Cavs basket where Lebron made a bad pass, one of the Celtics grabbed it as he was going out of bounds and threw it to a Teammate. he juggled it and Lebron, who had continued under the basket suddenly had the ball, I think it surprised even him.
maybe the best was a missed shot under the Celtics basket being bounced up in the air and all of a sudden Baynes had the ball. he was half-way to the free throw line and looked shocked that the ball came to him. it froze him for a moment until he realized that there was absolutely no one between him and the bucket, I think it was Horford who pointed at the basket and hollered. that was a strange play.
for his work, I don't see why Baynes doesn't get more minutes. he's great on the glass and always seems to be in the right place, good at boxing out.
his pick was basically a CYA scenario so he could say "see, i even picked Boston to win" just in case Boston actually wins.
Before the playoffs even started i had Cleveland facing GS in the finals,he sure the hell wasn't picking Boston until it was round 3
well, here you go eric, it's all here for you to read and go back to check, but I certainly didn't wait till round three to make my pick. you can flap your gums all you want but it only make you look like a idiot. I said what I said when I said it.
here's what keets said and when he said it........................
April 23rd --- they continually come out of the Half looking very lethargic and the Pacers look energized by the break. they almost lost Game two in the third quarter and did in fact lose Game three because of that. the media spoke to Lebron about it and he had no answer, but if they don't figure it out the Pacers will probably beat them. --- page one.
April 29th --- I don't know how far the Cavaliers can go this season but right now I would say that, based on how they played against the Pacers, they cannot win against whoever the opponent would be from the West. I think they should beat Toronto unless the Raptors payed attention to what Indiana did and if Cleveland insists on waiting for Kevin Love to show up. after that, they probably would be competitive against the Celtics but I think the 76'ers would overwhelm them. --- page three.
April 30th --- Cleveland should be able to beat Toronto but unless they figure a few things out that's as far as they'll go. --- page three.
here's what keets said and when he said it........................
Speaking of what was said and never said, show me exactly when you came around to face the music after game 2.

but yes, I avoided posting about what I had not watched.

I think both teams will be playing with a sense of urgency as a Houston loss will likely mean it will lose the series; and a GS loss will restore home court advantage and all momentum back to Houston.
i'm a quasi-fan who has followed the Rockets all year. i've witnessed enough unanticipated outcomes in sports over the decades to ever say they have no chance of winning tonight, but i am confident that the percentage is borderline infinitesimal. as much as i hate to say this, i think end of the road will be in sight after tonight. i have said this before and i'll say it again: the Rockets are a very fun team to watch when playing inferior competition. they iso-ball you to death & jack up 3s like no one's business, and against 99% of the league that's conducive to success. it does not work -- and will never work -- against Golden State, however.
the Warriors are probably the only team in the league that collectively has more talent than Houston does. the Harden-Paul effect is completely nullified by Curry-Durant with room to spare. the supporting cast for Golden State then starts with Klay Thompson, a dude who can drop 40 on you on any given night and is one of the better two-way players in the association. the Rockets' 3rd go-to guy (at least from an offensive standpoint) is Eric Gordon, and he is by far my least favorite player on the roster. reason being, if he has a great game like he did in G2, you know pretty well what's going to happen the very next tilt: he's going to convince himself that he's a 30 ppg on 50% kinda guy, and once that happens it's going to get ugly fast to the detriment of the entire team. on Sunday night i was almost embarrassed for him -- if he wasn't hoisting ill-advised shots that had about a 25-30% chance of going in, he was lowering his head and making injudicious drives to the hoop that were clearly going to end in disaster.
but i know what some of you are going to say: yeah but Houston put the beatdown on GS by 22 last Wednesday, so it's entirely possible!!! here is how i respond to that. that game meant far more to the Rockets than it did the Warriors. if Houston loses, their season is over. if Golden St loses (they did), it meant virtually nothing to them (it didn't) because the split was in their hip pocket and they were headed back to the comfiest of confines. i would not be the least bit surprised if Kerr had told them prior the game, "okay, we're going to play very hard tonight. but if Houston's others show up, the shots start falling and it looks like we won't be able to steal a second game, then it's time to release our feet from the pedal and conserve energy. we don't play again until Sunday and we'll be fully rested to give them the business in our house." (they did.)
even if you aren't an ardent fan of basketball but have seen bits and pieces of the first 3 games, what does the eye test tell you? my pair says that one team (GS) plays like one and is extremely savvy. yes, there will be times when Curry and Durant break you down solo because they can. but many times there is also extensive ball movement with multiple guys getting touches on every possession, resulting in the highest percentage shot possible. whether it be a dribble hand-off, rip screen or any other designed play, you cannot ever fall asleep because anyone wearing royal blue and gold can kill you at any given moment. and therein lies the danger: the Warriors are an unpredictable, uber-talented, multi-headed monster.
Houston's offense, on the other hand, is predominantly Harden & Paul playing iso-ball. there is really nothing schematic about it. even when the points do come, they don't do so nearly as easy because they rely too heavily on their backcourt to make it happen. sure, Harden may score 30, but when he does it on 33% shooting that means for every time he puts the ball up and it happens to go in the hole, it's going the other way two other times when Houston fails to corral the board. end result when the Beard shoots: Golden State 50, James Harden 30. you just can't run that kind of offense against a sound defensive team like Golden State and expect any degree of effectiveness.
and speaking of expectations, i expect a much more competitive game tonight. i expect Houston to come out scratching and clawing because, well, they have no choice but to do so. but eotd i expect more of the same: the better overall team winning at a location where they simply do not lose.

If we end up separating can I still have the Browns funneling their subpar players to NE so Bill Belichick can turn them into SB champions or is that too much to ask during the divorce hearing?
galaxy put up a good summary. what makes the warriors exceptional is that their no's 6-10 players would probably start in half the League. when the starters sit they don't lose much.
The secret to the boston cleveland series is the home team plays well and the coach is a genius , the away team can't shoot and the coach is a moron. And then they travel and it flips.

Objection your honor , calls for speculation on the part of the witness, ...............Sustained
No not speculation.
He likes to plays both sides and always leaves himself an out no matter who ends up winning down the line. His predictions all have a precursor so that if Cleveland eventually loses to Boston or Philly, there was his "predictions" on record earlier in the thread. He never just makes a single prediction like a normal fan would. It was all Mel Kiper-esque,who is known for releasing 20 different mock drafts so he has many scenarios for eack pick and if one hits,he can say see i had it on record.
My point with that CYA comment was just pointing this out even if i got the round 3 part wrong. Anyone can scroll thru all his comments, especially any pertaining to predictions, and they'll definitely see a pattern, its been fence sitting the whole way.
Boston & Cleveland are down to a best of three series with two wins getting you into the NBA Finals.
Forgetting any & all previous predictions in this thread about this series,
Who do you got winning 2 of the next 3? the Celtics or the Cavaliers?

Celtics and Rockets would be kinda cool, just to have both non-Lebron/GS teams in the finals. I think it's been a while since one of them hasn't made it.
I may watch some of the game tonight, but unless it makes it to a finals game 7, it'll probably be a few years again. If last night's game was any indication of what's typical today, I'm not a fan of the modern version of BkB.

edit: Eric Gordon still manages to somehow make me sick
Houston played like warriors in the 4th even with Paul and Harden out of gas. They snatched and wrestled that game out of Golden States clutches

Sorry Houston fans....that was a gift.
it's all about perception, Dimeman. i personally saw the Rockets unwilling to give up. it would have been VERY easy to do so, ALL things considered.
one could even say that Golden State was extremely fortunate to have a chance late in the game. Houston did not execute worth a damn, missed a slew of shots and scored ONE point in the last 2:27 of the game.

I know they had listed as doubtful for game 4,he wouldn't be a huge loss but its one less player for Houston to worry about.

there were a few weird plays in last nights game.
the first two involved Cavs players throwing the ball off of Celtics.
That was definitely a brainfart moment.

his pick was basically a CYA scenario so he could say "see, i even picked Boston to win" just in case Boston actually wins.
Speaking of what was said and never said, show me exactly when you came around to face the music after game 2.

no ESPN so it looks like I'll miss the game, maybe see part of it catch it some other way. Bummer
if you remember, that's the game I wasn't able to watch and didn't see any highlights until the next day. I thought it would be a little disingenuous to comment about a game I hadn't even watched so I came and checked some of the replies. I only posted when you guys started to play dog-pile-on-the-rabbit. BTW, how'd that work out for you, the gloating and mocking?? apparently it was a bit pre-mature as well as immature.
but yes, I avoided posting about what I had not watched.
as to ESPN, not only can't I watch games there but now I can't even watch replays of shows and any post-game stuff. they have locked out any non-subscription viewing..................................but only for the NBA. I can still watch MLB and Stanley Cup highlights.
You're just giving me excuses there buddy. I missed the end of the 4th quarter last night and you jumped on my shiznt then for making a harmless joke this morning. Should my opinion matter when i missed the most important part of the game? If you had two eyes you could obviously had read all my comments during the game where I talked about it all night.
You just wanted your shot to grill me after the game as if I somehow needed to placate your delicate sensibilities but sorry i'm not here to placate you.

i'm a quasi-fan who has followed the Rockets all year. i've witnessed enough unanticipated outcomes in sports over the decades to ever say they have no chance of winning tonight, but i am confident that the percentage is borderline infinitesimal. as much as i hate to say this, i think end of the road will be in sight after tonight. i have said this before and i'll say it again: the Rockets are a very fun team to watch when playing inferior competition. they iso-ball you to death & jack up 3s like no one's business, and against 99% of the league that's conducive to success. it does not work -- and will never work -- against Golden State, however.
the Warriors are probably the only team in the league that collectively has more talent than Houston does. the Harden-Paul effect is completely nullified by Curry-Durant with room to spare. the supporting cast for Golden State then starts with Klay Thompson, a dude who can drop 40 on you on any given night and is one of the better two-way players in the association. the Rockets' 3rd go-to guy (at least from an offensive standpoint) is Eric Gordon, and he is by far my least favorite player on the roster. reason being, if he has a great game like he did in G2, you know pretty well what's going to happen the very next tilt: he's going to convince himself that he's a 30 ppg on 50% kinda guy, and once that happens it's going to get ugly fast to the detriment of the entire team. on Sunday night i was almost embarrassed for him -- if he wasn't hoisting ill-advised shots that had about a 25-30% chance of going in, he was lowering his head and making injudicious drives to the hoop that were clearly going to end in disaster.
but i know what some of you are going to say: yeah but Houston put the beatdown on GS by 22 last Wednesday, so it's entirely possible!!! here is how i respond to that. that game meant far more to the Rockets than it did the Warriors. if Houston loses, their season is over. if Golden St loses (they did), it meant virtually nothing to them (it didn't) because the split was in their hip pocket and they were headed back to the comfiest of confines. i would not be the least bit surprised if Kerr had told them prior the game, "okay, we're going to play very hard tonight. but if Houston's others show up, the shots start falling and it looks like we won't be able to steal a second game, then it's time to release our feet from the pedal and conserve energy. we don't play again until Sunday and we'll be fully rested to give them the business in our house." (they did.)
even if you aren't an ardent fan of basketball but have seen bits and pieces of the first 3 games, what does the eye test tell you? my pair says that one team (GS) plays like one and is extremely savvy. yes, there will be times when Curry and Durant break you down solo because they can. but many times there is also extensive ball movement with multiple guys getting touches on every possession, resulting in the highest percentage shot possible. whether it be a dribble hand-off, rip screen or any other designed play, you cannot ever fall asleep because anyone wearing royal blue and gold can kill you at any given moment. and therein lies the danger: the Warriors are an unpredictable, uber-talented, multi-headed monster.

If we end up separating can I still have the Browns funneling their subpar players to NE so Bill Belichick can turn them into SB champions or is that too much to ask during the divorce hearing?

eric, I have no delicate sensibilities.
galaxy put up a good summary. what makes the warriors exceptional is that their no's 6-10 players would probably start in half the League. when the starters sit they don't lose much.
With keets and erickthered continuing to dialog, by the time the playoffs finish next month this thread may break the 1,000 reply barrier.

The secret to the boston cleveland series is the home team plays well and the coach is a genius , the away team can't shoot and the coach is a moron. And then they travel and it flips.

The last time the Celtics played the Rockets in the Finals I was in grade school watching one of the live day games from that series. Best day of school ever!

regardless of what happens in the 2nd half, i'm so proud of those guys. i hope they make an absolute fool out of me and finish this thing off tonight. lose by 41 two nights ago, get punched in the mouth 12-0 to start the next game, and all of a sudden they completely turn the tables. the Beard is playing like a boss, and that poster job on Draymond may be the nastiest i've ever seen.
edit: Eric Gordon still manages to somehow make me sick

A great game so far. Both teams are playing well.
Houston MLB championship will be followed by NBA trophy.
GS gave that game away in the 4th!!
never been more happy to be so wrong in my life.
i didn't think Hou had that type of resilience in them. took 3 horsesh*t games, but we finally got a gem.
best-of-3, fellas.......series on!

Houston played like warriors in the 4th even with Paul and Harden out of gas. They snatched and wrestled that game out of Golden States clutches

GS blew that game. They played their game to get back and go ahead 80 -70. Then went completely away from their game....not passing and throwing up crazy shots that had no chance going in.
