Mine is easy....I wanted to use"python" on ebay but that was taken back in 1997, so I added a "1", I had 4 python snakes till last year. They were getting quite large, and I found homes for all of them...the largest is now 12 ft..... Boring I know but thats it....
I wanted a numismatic name not already in use so picked "Double Dime", nickname of the 20c piece. My icon however is a French 20 Centime. I was going to use the 20c coin or at least the obverse of the Seated Liberty series. When I made my choice I didn't see "Fr." in front and thus ended up with the 20 Centime. So far I think I'm the only one using this icon.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
`78 7/8 tf VAM 44 Morgan= King of Morgan varieties(VAMS) Incidently, I found a 2nd vam44 at a local show in Jan. this year, a vf-30.I never thought with all the top 100 hoopla that I`d cherry another after the first,a ms-62, in the early nineties(pre top 100).
A dealer once asked me if I noticed any three-legged buffalos on the bourse,to which I replied,"...no,but I saw alot of two-legged jackasses..."
"Shiroh" is my Japanese name, and "oniichan" ("niichan" for short) means "big brother." The kids in the kindergarten in my town used to call me "Shiroh niichan" when I visited them while working for the local board of education. The name stuck.
Well, my last name is Wich, so my family is known as the Wichers. My brother is called just plain Wicher, I'm called Little Wicher, my sister's called baby Wicher, my mom's called Mama Wicher. My dad is called Mr. Wich.

It actually doesn't have anything to do with cards or gambling. I love "Blackjack" gum (black licorice flavor), and buy as much as I can find wherever I find it. It is getting pretty hard to find it these days. If any of you know where to find some, I'll trade for it.
BTW Aethelred - I can trace my ancestry directly back to King Aethelred on my maternal grandmother's side.
Mine is just as boring as some of the other replies. My name is Mike and I live about as far in East Texas as you can get. Everything in East Texas is called etex. Hence the handle of etexmike.
I deployed with USS SEAHORSE in 1980. But I could just as easily have chosen Hawkbill, Silversides, Cavalla, Archerfish, Pargo, or a couple dozen other submarines.
"Some one told me that almost anyone could have a cool sounding Klingon name by taking the first letter of their first name and combining it with the last three letters of their last name."
If I had used that logic, I would have wound up with the handle, "tart". Would be even worse if my first name was Fred.
The cat is out of the bag. Yes, I must confess, I lead a double life. I actually collect something else other than coins. The first half of my handle (rich) is my name, Richard, and the second half of my handle (beat) is for Beatles. I also collect Beatles records.
I am another one who's handle has nothing to do with coins. K6AZ is my amateur radio callsign. It makes for a good user name on sites because it is very short and not likely to be used already by someone else. (By the way amateur radio is another very expensive hobby. Ask PQPeace)
Have enjoyed and collected Dahlonega coins for about forty years alternative name I was considering was Deminted [my wife, a psychiatrist, feels this would be more appropriate]. Over the years have ventured into almost all other coin types except modern even a couple of Dark side excursions. Yep I read and enjoyed all the other replies sounds like a pretty sharp group. Looking forward to meeting some members at the ANA and/or FUN show.
I fly these machines AH-64, hence "Apache". I am a Chief Warrant, US Army.
Also, The "10th Mountain" Patch I post for the Handle is right shoulder material from heavy combat in Somalia. I was flying vintage gunships then, the "Cobra", which is still in service in the Air Guard.
If you haven't seen "Blackhawkdown" rent it, its pretty much true (only moderate Hollywood)

I don't get on here as much as I'd like to, but I had to answer this one. Got mine from a fictional character who was mentioned once in awhile in the 'Harry and Charlie' stories in Bassmaster magazine. Any bass fishers that read Bassmasters in the 70's and 80's knows about Harry and Charlie. I've used it as my alias since '85 or so, after throwing out Freddie J. Fuddpucker and Ernest P. Bugblatt, Sr.
No one ever called Matt Gordon by his real name.In the Navy everyone called him Flash cause no one knew he was MATT Gordon and not Flash Gordon. Right Matt?
Ok way back in late 93/early 94 when I was in school, our school was actually pretty advanced in that it had a computer network, and internet access. In fact, there was even a class on html web page authoring, and I was in it. Standard practice at the time for networks, it seems, was to use your first initial, and maybe your middle initial, and your last name (JDoe, for example) as a login. However, our teacher was somewhat contrarian and made all of the logons our full first names, followed by our middle and last initials, hence, mine was RobertPR. I've used it in many different places since, including here. Too bad someone already had it on eBay, oh well.
And just FYI, I managed to hack into the admin account, found out the password, and have used that password ever since too. Not always, and usually not with that screenname.
My first name is Clark, and I'm in Kent, Ohio. Well... that's my mailing address, anyway. I actually live right outside of Kent, but ClarkOfBrimfield just doesn't have the same ring to it!
My last name is Gordon, hence the nickname "Flash". Odly enough, nobody had ever called me that until I was in the Navy. Only one or two of my fellow shipmates ever knew my real name, including the Captain of the ship. It was also my father's nickname when he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII.
Edit: Do'h! Cam40 beat be to my own history! Guess I'd better come up with a better story, eh?
I brew my own beer, and one that I created on my own design (instead of using the pre-packaged kits) I named Maddog Ale....it is one of my favorite brews (and my brother-in-law's absolute favorite ), and it is also my eBay handle only with an asterik in the middle (maddog*ale) PCGS wouldn't let me add the asterik here, so......maddogale...... BTW, my icon is the Colt serpentine name, since I also collect Colt Pistols and memorabilia....
"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on; I don't do these things to other people, I require the same from them."
Coin collector by day, Bounty Hunter by night. Just kidding! Very often it takes a lot of tracking to find the coins I want... at the price I am willing to pay. Hence... "tracker"
Abel Buell (1742-1822) sunk the dies for both the Fugio copper coinage of 1787 and many of the the Connecticut coppers that were struck along side the Fugios at the Broome & Platt store in New Haven, Connecticut. He was also a pioneer American silversmith, engraver, engineer and type founder. He developed the process of creating dies from a complex hub, employing this process in the creation of the dies for the 1786 dated Connecticut coppers - a feat the would not be duplicated even by the US mint for over 50 years.
Picked up nickname of beartracks while working 35 years at a Chemical plant. I'm 6'2" and 285 and sometimes grumpy(so my wife says), hence the handle. 1942 is my birth year.
I have read every entry in this thread...very interesting and enjoyable.
My handle is basically my name. And picture of the .45 ACP Colt 1911 refers to my main hobby of competitive pistol shooting. I have been unable to shoot since Jan. of 2001 due to an injury. (torn tendon in right elbow and bottom of right bicep muscle). I went for surgery and all that stuff. It's just taking for ever to heal. So since I couldn't shoot for awhile I decieded to get seriously back into collecting. I will continue collecting even when I can get back on the pistol circut again. BobbyD
Mine's about as dumb as they come. My name is Kyle Knapp and I managed to mispell it when registering.
LOL! This could be my new favorite response. Although some of the other stories were pretty cool, too.
Btw, this thread has turned out far better than I expected. All we need is a couple thousand more new members, and we can overtake the Moon Landing Conspiracy.

Certainly sexual orientation is a social construct. I suspect gender is also probably a social construct. Insanity, madness is a social construct. >>
