In the early 1980`s, during the videogame boom, My brothers and I were " vidiots ". One of the games that my older brother and I would play regularly was a game called " Centipede ". If you made one of the top scores for the day, you would put up a three letter inital if you choose to do so. My brother and I had the same initials and he was better then I by a long shot. So, it got to the point that when I put mine up, he would get mad. So as a substitue, and being a Creedance Clearwater Revival fan then and now, I used the initials " ccr ".
In college my nickname was "The Sumdunce Kid". I got the nickname when hanging out with a "non-traditional" student. He was 43 at the time and I was 21, his nickname was "Botch Casually" (taken from a parody I'm sure), and whenever we went out to the local Jazz bars his other (also mid 40's) friends started calling me "The Kid". After a couple of outings they started refering to me as "The Sumdunce Kid" (part of the above mentioned parody) and later they shortened it to "Sumdunce".
Hello everybody! I'm a brand new "wet behind the ears" newbie here and earlier today posted for the first time. One of the first replies to my post suggested I hit this thread and explain what's up with "SellSatan." It's really pretty simple:
Everybody hates telemarketers, and many people go so far as to call them "satan's spawn" (believe me, I've heard it). Well, I'm a sales trainer and curriculum developer for a telemarketing firm. So if telemarketers are "satan's spawn," and I'm the guy that teaches them how to do what they do, I guess that makes me satan.
Incidentally, if you're curious, I didn't come up with this. A friend of mine made the crack, and it kind of stuck.
Everynight I sit at the computer looking at all the registry collections, including my own. My wife will yell at me to go to bed you registry nut. And that's the truth.
I come from a very small town were it was impossible to keep anything secret. If you had any skeletons in the closet they would be found out and become part of the rummor mill. I learned that the best way to stop this was to make it public knowledge. Everyone knows it, so there aint any reason to gossip about it. Its OLD news. Thus DUIGUY.

When I first became interested in amassing a collection of coins, I gathered all of the coins that I owned and looked each one up in the Red Book. I discovered that every, single one that I thought was unique or neat was a regular, garden variety coin. COTC
Most who read this will have no idea what I mean, and that is OK and all is well. Actually it is a connection sort of thing relating to my other hobby which is Botany and my favorite Genus.
My last name is Betz and football coach last year started calling me Dicky Betz after the musician. No reason he just did and it stuck. So everyone calls me that now.
This is one crazy long term post, gonna take hours to read through. So, what the heck, I'll explain mine, not that anyone will ever get to the 523rd post.
Wekar is a character name I made for an online game, and my icon, if I haven't changed it, is that character too. When I dreamed it up, I heard it as Whe or Weh (as in Wheat) - car (like you drive), was about a year before some real life friends said it out loud not in game and mispronounced it horribly that I wondered if it wasn't such a great name - they kept saying weaker, like wimp, dangit, wek was a bada$$. Coming up with names in messageboards is always a nightmare too, so I just keep recycling good character names I've had in the past, I was nearly helios here.
I like the way it sounded and I got to "coin" a new word. [apologies for the pun]. I think of it as overcoming adversity in a numismatic sense. Or, perhaps, its attending a numismatic university. Lots of ways to look at it.
I'm relatively new (Neo) to coin collecting (Numis...) but I'm crazy (maniac) about coins! This has got to be the most enjoyable hobby I've taken part in.
Similar to Wekar's handle coming from an online game - mine is a handle I used while participating in a squad that flew WWII combat flight simulators on line. We'd fly as a team and employ real life fighter combat tactics that worked remarkably well in the simulators we'd fly. Those times were some of the most fun I've ever had playing a game.
I play paintball and its a nickname I use pretty much anywhere... Just with a twist of spelling. Yes, I know it says peightnt, but pronounce it as paint and youll be fine.
I take credit for infecting two numismatists with the classic commemorative half fever, both who have long ago surpassed me in size of collection and knowledge of the series. The second convert's wife is reputed to have referred to "that dam* Krummel" after another of many purchases and I kinda like being referred to as Thatdamn Krummel when the classic commemorative fever is running high.
