imo, this definitely has to do with returns slowing vs a jump in purchases.
Returns would be reflected in sales, not in inventory.
The 796 sets sold since yesterday is right in line with the average for the past week.
So, less than 100 sometime this evening or tomorrow morning...
Backroad, why don't you just buy all the remaining sets?

'Cause it would make the 8 sets I'm into this product worthless.
(On the other hand, if I had an extra $21K sitting around.... I still wouldn't buy 700 of these things. )
My friend was offered 500 sets @ 27.95 from another dealer .. he just laughed ,his buy price is $25
Your friend is very generous. No dealer I know pays more than 20% back of retail on mint products, most 30%. At $30 per set, I'd imagine most dealers are paying $21-24.
Ask him what he is paying for ANY U.S. mint product that is still for sale on the website. I bet he's paying even less for 2017 regular proof and mint sets. It's really a meaningless number until the Mint stops selling them.

225th sets Sales will end at the earliest .......end of 2017 .... Mint holding back sets for Christmas . Specs holding many sets
25,000 damaged sets???? LOL you mean flippers returned them because they did not want their financial health damaged holding sets
Now, that would be a first. This set will be long sold out before Christmas
I agree. I predict 9/19 as soldout.
Agree as well. I believe these sets will rise in value once they sell out over the long haul.

I didn't call them damaged sets. I called them "missing sets". I imagine many do have issues or need inspection.
Flippers are ALWAYS weak hands, by definition. They panicked and created a debacle. It will sort out in time.

Down to 77 in stock. Will go unavailable today..
we've been here before
LOL. And we may get here again...depending on the missing 25,000. But the sets sold are in sounder hands at this point and you aren't going to see the massive returns again.
There's less than 40 sets now, so I'm going with the big assumption they'll go unavailable again today and I changed the title of the thread. That way I won't have to keep checking the site.
(This, just in case you checked the mint site early today and there were still some sets available...)

Except that returns that are made available again would appear in that number also. I think that's what Nurmaler is referring to...
Returns aren't made available again. That's why the sales is less than 200K.
We don't know that, one way or the other. Based on the rate of sales and remaining numbers, it's possible that some returns are inspected and put back on sale. Which is why it's possible the missing 25,000 suddenly reappear.
So funny, when they are unavailable, they are more desirable. People always want what they can't get, or at least have a hard time to get. Unavailable = "I'm so glad I got some, I should have bought more!" Available again = "Dang, why did I get these, nobody wants them."
I for one, really like this set whether they are still available or not. I'm not flipping or reselling. And if the mint decides to make more of these each year, that's okay too....this will still be the first set like this. But I don't think they will, and this will be unique and it's value should be what you place on it.
Okay, I've got 20,000 sets available now. Anybody want one for 100 bucks apiece?
At some point, the Mint will have to make clear their intentions . Until then, I would have to think they are still considering replacing/rehabbing/relisting the missing 25-30,000 sets.
On another EU set note: have you noticed that the slabbed set prices have firmed up on eBay?
For a while, the NGC SP70 sets were getting very close to $100 with lots of sales in the $110 range. The last few days have prices in the $120-$130 with most sales at $130-$140. PCGS was always better in the $180 range, but even they have seemed to firm up in the $200 range.

Don't quote me on that.

Well, that's categorically not true.
How so? Flippers live for the flip, not the hold. For the record, I don't categorize resellers as flippers.

66....
May not make it to morning....
66 right now. Should go unavailable by mid-morning, at the latest
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Yeah, bought my two, so bring on the other 25K....
It was more work trying to get a couple of the last hundred than it is to order a product on day one...

The number COULD go up a bit from the present 39...but it's a w/e so if it does the it probably won't happen until Monday
38...

37....dropping one at a time
going back up 55
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
Guess it doesn't matter if it's a w/e
Is this new? I can't order 20,000 and then return them?
Insert witicism here. [ xxx ]
What is a w\e ?
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
Weekend...I thought it would be obvious
Above is more obvious, than, Guess it doesn't matter if it's a w/e
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
38 in stock now 8:52 est
And 90 minutes later, we're back to 37.
This is like watching paint dry.

I'll bet you can order 100 sets 200 times.
You might get your chance in a few days. Stay tuned.
LOL. You can if you call them on the phone...or you're nurmaler. Although even nurmaler would have to place 2 separate 10,000 set orders online.

Also, and I think more significantly: slabbed Lincoln cent prices remain strong with 70s in the $40-$50 range and even 69s at $25.
As of 8:25 CST still available...
POST NUBILA PHOEBUS / AFTER CLOUDS, SUN
Love for Music / Collector of Dreck
Should I order the rest just to see what happens?
I want to say yes, but don't want you to feel peer pressure
...the near sellout is getting exciting!
Down to 28
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
I have over many many many sets I'm good.
25 left
20
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
15
maybe someone will order 2 sets to quicken up the pace
I guess everyone is good on the sets they have on this site, or believe 25,000 more sets will become available
11 to go, then??
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
