Michigan wasn't great but they had every opportunity to win. I realize the rivalry games bring out the best in the underdog but I didn't think Ohio State looked great. Of course there might not be any great teams this year. Big 10 people should be rooting for Alabama to beat Auburn.

Buckeyes looked better than Miami yesterday. Michigan has a top three defense.

at the risk of repeating myself --- Ohio State jut isn't a very good Team. they are currently getting beaten by un-ranked Michigan(please, spare me the but this is THE GAME crap) in pretty much every phase of the game. the one that stings is the passing game: JT Barrett is just not a good, effective passer, I don't think he ever has been. the program will improve through attrition when he leaves after this season.
the Buckeyes may pull this game out, but I see it as loss number three in their four loss season. now, it is entirely within the realm of possibility that they could lose five, yes five, games!!!
Yes as a Michigan fan I was sad to see Barrettt leave the game. Great job by Haskins and OSU did what they needed to do to win. Couple things. Dropped passes in the first quarter was not Barrett's fault. They also had the momentum when price messed up on that snap when it was tied. Again not Barrett's fault. He did a great job recovering the botched snap.

Yep and Michigan dropped an sure interception on a poorly thrown Barnett ball at the 5. Michigan didn't make the easy play. That's on them. Two plays later OSU touchdown and OSU was back in the game. Then was the turning point in the game. A wins a win. Congrats

UCLA has had some great football coaches... Probably more than other similarly situated schools. The main difference is none of them lasted for the length of time the school would have liked. Starting with the legendary Red Sanders, probably the greatest in UCLA history, died of a heart attack while he was the coach. Tommy Prothro was great and I believe he left UCLA for the NFL. He was followed by Pepper Rogers who left to go to Georgia Tech. Dick Vermil left for the NFL...either he did or Terry Donohue did or they both did. And then there was Bob Toledo. I would have kept Toledo...UCLA was great to watch in those days even though their defense was suspect.
Good luck to their new coach and make no mistake about it... There are several tough acts to follow at Westwood.

First. Congratulations to Michigan. They came out fired up, well prepared, and dominated Ohio State through the first quarter. I thought the play that turned the game around was J.T. running for their first score after running for their first score and having it called back. I didn't think about it until the game was over but OSU outscored Michigan 31-6 after falling behind 14-0. Last year was a two nitro game. This year, no nitro but I am mentally fatigued.

Thanks Brick. We had a chance to make some plays and didn't. That's on us. OSU made the plays when they had to. This was never going to be our year. It took me two months get over last years double OT loss. It took me one minute this year. Fun game

Well we just got out played and out coached by the better team. Hats off to Auburn they came to play. Their defense is awesome. I hope the Auburn players that got hurt heal for the Championship game.
**Keets... I know you think Barrett is inconsistent. Others such as myself see him as quite athletic and capable. **
'cat, here's what I think, Barrett is a one-dimensional player with a set of skills that fits one thing, read --- option. he is a far better runner than he is a passer and that is why the Team excelled with him for a period of time. I wonder if it is a coincident that when he broke his ankle and Cordell Stewart replaced him that the Team played their best Football of the year. Stewart made the offense more effective because of his arm strength. perhaps there were some drops today(I didn't watch) but he has been "off the mark" his entire time leading OSU. JT Barrett just isn't a skilled throwing QB.
to be honest, the person who really needs to change but probably won't is Urban Meyer. as long as he insists on running the read --- option or any form of offense that fails to move closer to the style played in the NFL his Teams will never consistently challenge for the NCAA #1 ranking.
-------------------- this weekend has been everything that many of us wanted and that darned "Committee" feared. nothing going forward will have any semblance of logic because everyone has proven that anyone can lose. as improbable as it may seem, Wisconsin remains the only unbeaten Team and I seriously doubt they will be ranked in the Top Spot.
if the right Teams lose next week it will be an absolute nightmare for any sane person to imagine who the Playoff Teams will be. below is my Top 10 ranking, although there are still a few games left.
Oklahoma
Auburn
Wisconsin
Clemson
Alabama
Georgia
Ohio State
Penn State
Miami
Notre Dame
I think the committee will have a tough job this year. A couple things brought up on a post game show. They have never taken a two loss team. There are three teams guaranteed to have only one loss, Alabama, Wisconsin, and the winner of Miami-Clemson. If Georgia wins the SEC there's your 4th one loss team. They have never left the BIG or SEC out. If Auburn wins they would have to be the first two loss team in due to their tremendous resume. The winner of Miami-Clemson will be in. If Wisconsin is a one loss team they will be out, if undefeated they are in. I can see more than one two loss team in and the BIG left home as the Buckeyes have too many teams to leapfrog and there may be a committee member say the magic word, "Iowa."
So Wisconsin's 12-0 regular season has come to fruition. My gut tells me they end up losing to Ohio State. That will be devastating to us in WI and it will be hard to imagine a Power 5 conference team that is potentially 12-1 being on the outside looking in. The much discussed soft schedule has been a blessing which very well could end up being a huge curse in about one weeks time. I sure hope my gut is wrong.

Unless ND makes a major comeback in the next few minutes I don't think they are in the top 10. Maybe U$C instead of ND at 10!? Definitely will be interesting what the committee comes up with.
I think Alabama shot themselves in the foot by not looking better today. Too bad as I really thought they would be in the playoff no matter what. Shows how important the timing of the loss is. A loss in week 1 is almost irrelevant but at the end of the year can be devastating.

Did you really think figuring out the 2017 College Football Playoff field was going to be straightforward?
Thanks to No. 1 Alabama losing to No. 6 Auburn on Saturday and No. 2 Miami’s upset loss at Pitt on Friday, there’s still a lot to play for during championship week. Will the Crimson Tide make it in to the playoff despite not winning its own division in the SEC? Will Wisconsin move to 13-0 with a win over Ohio State? Will the Big 12 have a team make the playoff for the second time in four years?
Here are the three playoff scenarios we think are the most likely to happen after next week’s games. Don’t discount the possibility of none of these scenarios happening either. This season has been anything but predictable.
(Scenarios are ranked from most to least likely. Teams are not listed in order of projected seeding.)
SCENARIO 1
Team 1: ACC Championship Game winner [Clemson or Miami]
Team 2: Oklahoma
Team 3: Wisconsin
Team 4: SEC Championship Game winner [Auburn or Georgia]
This is the most straightforward of the College Football Playoff scenarios. The winner of Clemson-Miami will have one loss and a conference title. The Hurricanes’ undefeated season disappeared on Friday at Pitt, while Clemson beat rival South Carolina handily on Saturday to move to 11-1.
While Miami has the most recent loss, the Hurricanes will still be in great shape with a win over the defending national champions.
The Tigers, who started the week at No. 3, are the prohibitive favorite to move to No. 1 in Tuesday’s rankings.
Oklahoma would be at 12-1 with a Big 12 title with a win over TCU in the Big 12 Championship Game. The Sooners, who rolled over West Virginia on Saturday, would have two wins over the Horned Frogs, a win over Oklahoma State and a win over Ohio State on the resume. Oklahoma is win-and-in, just like the ACC winner. And the Sooners should be No. 2 on Tuesday.
Wisconsin would be in even better shape as the only undefeated Power Five team in college football. The Badgers won at Minnesota on Saturday to move to 12-0. It’s the program’s first undefeated regular season since 1912.
12-0
For the first time since 1912, the #Badgers finish the regular season undefeated. #OnWisconsin pic.twitter.com/a95UJ5LeYx
The Badgers have been hanging around outside the top four in the playoff rankings because of a weak strength of schedule. Michigan, at 8-4, is the best team Wisconsin has beaten. But that will change this week as the Badgers should take advantage of Alabama and Miami’s losses. Wisconsin will be No. 3 on Tuesday.
A win over Ohio State in the Big Ten title game will only bolster Wisconsin’s profile. A Power Five team at 13-0 with a conference title will never miss the College Football Playoff. The Badgers would be in.
The final spot is less of a guarantee, especially if Auburn beats Georgia. If the Bulldogs exact revenge on the Tigers for a shellacking two weeks ago, Georgia would be at 12-1. That’s good enough for the playoff because the Pac-12 champion (either USC or Stanford) would have no fewer than two losses. And Alabama, at 11-1, has a resume that doesn’t compare to Georgia’s.
If Auburn wins the SEC Championship Game, the Tigers would move to 11-2. That’s one more loss than the 11-1 Crimson Tide. But the Tigers have improved as the season’s gone on and beat Alabama 26-14 on Saturday. There’s no way the committee can put Alabama in the playoff above an SEC champion Auburn. None.
SCENARIO 2
Team 1: Clemson or Miami
Team 2: Oklahoma
Team 3: Georgia or Auburn
Team 4: Alabama
In this scenario, the ACC champion is still in, Oklahoma still beats TCU and the winner of the SEC title game is still in. But Wisconsin loses to Ohio State.
That would knock the Badgers to 12-1 and it would be hard to see how Wisconsin could get into the playoff after losing in its conference title game. No team has ever lost a conference title game and made the College Football Playoff.
A Wisconsin loss would open the door for Alabama, who could get into the playoff much like the Buckeyes did a year ago. Ohio State made it to the final four with an 11-1 record despite not appearing in the Big Ten title game thanks to a loss to Penn State (who won the Big Ten and missed the playoff). Alabama’s schedule wasn’t the toughest thanks to underwhelming seasons by Florida State and LSU, but we think the Tide would get in ahead of a two-loss Ohio State if the Buckeyes beat the Badgers.
SCENARIO 3
Team 1: Clemson or Miami
Team 2: Georgia or Auburn
Team 3: Alabama
Team 4: Ohio State
Here’s where it gets even more implausible. But not impossible. In this scenario, both Wisconsin and Oklahoma lose, giving us a two-loss Big 12 champion in TCU and a two-loss Big Ten champion in Ohio State.
Auburn could be a two-loss SEC champion as well, but thanks to two wins over Georgia and a win over Alabama, the Tigers’ case for the playoff is pretty solid. And, as we’ve said before, the winner of the ACC will have one loss. Those conference winners are both locks.
We like Alabama as the third team here because of the Tide’s 11-1 record and because Alabama has the best loss. TCU lost to Iowa State — which finished the season 7-5 — and Ohio State got blown out by 7-5 Iowa on the road. There must be something about that corn-producing state.
And there’s something about Oklahoma too. Both TCU and Ohio State’s other losses would be to the Sooners. Who gets the edge?
We like Ohio State, unless the Buckeyes eke out a win against Wisconsin and TCU blows out Oklahoma. Simply put, a win over an undefeated top-four team would look better than one to a team who had a loss. Yeah, that’s pretty simple — probably too simple. But we fully expect Ohio State to be ahead of TCU in Tuesday’s playoff rankings. And if both teams win similarly, how could the committee vault the Horned Frogs over the Buckeyes?

Let's see the year OSU won the National Championship he got knocked out of the Michigan game and Cardelle led them to victory that day and the National Championship. Where is the thank you card? JT was certainty not going to lead OSU past Alabama and Oregon.
Last year it took double OT and he was hardly a factor 90% of the time
So yes he was Michigans best chance. Make him throw and you have a chance to win.
Urban Meyer is insane. That article makes him look like a fool
So JT started two games against Michigan and was tied in one and losing in the other and finished in neither and somehow has that has meaning ?

The buckeyes were winning in the 4th quarter when he got hurt in 2014. Mich couldn't stop him in 2015. Last year he got that key 1st down on 4th down that helped them get into overtime. And this year, they couldn't stop his running game as usual. They were only down by six when he left the game and buckeyes had the ball. He was responsible for both buckeyes td's while playing hurt.
Barrett is one of only 2 players in fbs history to pass for 100 td's, and run for 40 td's.
IT CAN'T BE A TRUE PLAYOFF UNLESS THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONS ARE INCLUDED
This year he was losing and OSU had133 yards in offense though half way through the third quarter with him at the helm, 30 yards passing. 8 first Tds. It was a blessing he went out for you and didn't finish the game.
2014 game JT go hurt in a back and forth game and Cardelle saved the game and the season. Once again JT doesnt see the end of the game They were going nowhere with Barrett.
Last year he stunk for 3 quarters and then got that highly questionable spot in DOT
So yes Michigan loves playing against him as he has never put up numbers on them . He gives them a change. He haven't even survived two games

JT has a Tony Romo complex. Plays extremely well but has not personally taken his team to the promised land. A bad play or two and people want him replaced. Then a great win and they want to Knight him. Then an interception and they want him back on the bench. He has been a very good QB for the Buckeyes. It may take a while for anyone to better his 4-0 record against Michigan.
Mark, there is no point in going back and forth with garnett, he is so blinded by absolute loyalty to OSU that he cannot and will not accept any reasonable logic. it is pathetic and child-like. JT Barrett has certainly put up some good numbers although it took five years to do it against a majority of weak opponents, that is a reality. also a reality, though, is his consistent failure. if he was a better passer I would be in his corner defending him and his numbers would be so "off the charts" that he would have at least one Heisman Trophy. as it is, he has found himself on the bench in the biggest games of his OSU career.
reading "the scenarios" you outlined highlights the flaws in the current system since it is entirely logical that three Teams from one Conference could play for the Championship, or that two Teams each from two Conferences could play for the Championship. I don't think that is what was envisioned and greater still, I don't think that would good for NCAA Football. it might hasten a change in how Teams are chosen but overall I think it is bad.
one real life data point that speaks against that happening is when OSU won the Championship. they were placed as number four and really upset half the College Football world, the proceeded to absolutely destroy Oregon and Alabama. while that probably won't happen this season I feel that the winner of the Big 10 game next week HAS TO HAVE A SPOT in the final four, even if that means sacrificing a very good Alabama Team.
since the season thus far has presented so many "what if" scenarios, imagine where we would be if OSU had beaten Iowa??
@garnettstyle said:
You do realize the buckeyes have the fourth rated offense in college football, and Barrett is the main reason why.
It's hard to shake the memories of the 4 INTs vs Iowa and the inconsistenties and missed passes in the big games. The Buckeyes run the ball well and so does Barrett. No knock on him there at all. Another great systems QB. Born to play at QB OSU and nowhere else at any level. Pryor, Miller, Jones, Barrett the list goes on. OSU does this so well. Have to give great credit to them.

Had OSU beaten Iowa there would be no discussion. The winner of the Wisconsin/OSU game would be in. But you can't bury that Iowa loss. You can bury the Oklahoma loss. Can't bury both. Wisconsins best win was over Michigan. That's not saying a lot and won't help OSU's cause
If OSU beats Wisconsin I think the following is the most likely scenario. Alabama would get in just like OSU did last year without competing in their Conference Championship Game. Alabama has one loss to a great team on the road. OSU has the Oklahoma loss at home and the Iowa debacle. Just can't see OSU jumping Alabama. It will be interesting and nothing would surprise me

**IMHO and what no one is taking about and it's hurt OSU is this: if Oklahoma is seeded number 1. How in the world be it be fair to place OSU against them again as #4? Why should Oklahoma have to beat them twice? They already soundly beat them once. Wouldn't make sense.
Trust me the committee wants Wisconsin to win in the worst way. The seedings on Tuesday will be interesting. **

Going to be hard for Auburn to beat Georgia. Game is in Atlanta, Auburn is wounded and the Bulldogs want revenge. After the last game between them Kirby Smart sent a tape to the SEC. It had 6 plays where Auburn was holding and the refs didn't call it. Must have been the same ones they used last night.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
I'm in Dallas for a wedding. Watching the game with a bunch of Auburn fans. They make Garnettstyle seem somewhat reasonable on a class curve. I might have to scale back some.

Fun game

Good game so far, we gotta step it up, start running the ball if we're going to beat little brother.

Well we just got out played and out coached by the better team. Hats off to Auburn they came to play. Their defense is awesome. I hope the Auburn players that got hurt heal for the Championship game.
Man, it hurts, time for some tears in my beer...
I can't see the committee putting Bama in the playoffs, after today's lackluster performance. Congrats to the Tigers.

I am so embarrassed being such a Homer right now. But for Christ sakes, Herbstreit just gave his top 6 and had Auburn at #1 and Wisconsin still at #5.
That's the last person a Michigan faithful would want to see injured. Probably a Buckeye partisan

— Wisconsin Football (@BadgerFootball) November 25, 2017

Well let's see. He was losing in today's game when he was in.

The crazy camera man has to be a buckeye fan that knows something about football.
I hope we see Haskins next week against Wisconsin. Barnett as everyone knows isn't a big game quarterback

Nah, they still would've won if he wouldn't had gotten injured.
You rip the guy, but yet you could never beat him 0-4. Bahahaha
IT CAN'T BE A TRUE PLAYOFF UNLESS THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONS ARE INCLUDED
You do realize the buckeyes have the fourth rated offense in college football, and Barrett is the main reason why.
IT CAN'T BE A TRUE PLAYOFF UNLESS THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONS ARE INCLUDED

It's hard to shake the memories of the 4 INTs vs Iowa and the inconsistenties and missed passes in the big games. The Buckeyes run the ball well and so does Barrett. No knock on him there at all. Another great systems QB. Born to play at QB OSU and nowhere else at any level. Pryor, Miller, Jones, Barrett the list goes on. OSU does this so well. Have to give great credit to them.
m
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
It will be interesting and nothing would surprise me

Nor should you and that's a fantastic way of looking at it. For you and keets I hope it works out that OSU gets in. However, there is a dark side of me who would love to hear the Garnettstyle spin from now to enternity if Alabama gets in. His head may literally explode.
It would really help OSU's cause if Oklahoma lost against TCU. No way will try committee line up OSU against Oklahoma again. Oklahoma probably gets the number one seed if they beat TCU.Alabama or OSU would be number 4. I guess the committee could bail and make Clemson or Miami the number 1 seed.
Auburn beating Georgia next week could be troublesome for Alabama. They need to be rooting Georgia on.

Ohhhh, the agony of defeat.
The experts say we need to pull for Auburn, I say go Dawgs.

Well said. It seems to me that OSU would have to blow out Wisconsin. Sort of like Iowa did to OSU. Just make a case that they are really hitting on all cylinders right now (though they didn't look like it yesterday).
Wisc wins...(about a 40% chance.)
Oklahoma wins...(about a 60% chance.)
Not likely that both of the above happens.
ACC winner and SEC winner both in.
Alabama needs OSU win and helped by TCU win.
Big dilemma if Auburn loses a close game to GA.
If Oklahoma wins and Ohio State wins, I think the committee breaks the
deadlock by picking the 4 best conference winners:
SEC winner (my bet Auburn)
ACC winner (my bet Clemson)

Ohio State
