Stopped to peek at the Coinstar at the entrance of Walmart. the young greeter lady looked at me real funny and sort of suspiciously. Explained to her about finding silver and other interesting stuff, but she just had this blank look and stared at me as if I was cuckoo. Needless to say, high tailed it out of there.
@Joe_360... Most people do not even know or care about the silver dimes... They just accumulate change and then dump it. Only coin collectors or PM guys look for the silver. Cheers, RickO
and a 2013 Shield Lincoln Penny. This was stuck hard and good to the floating roof one and needed to use some force to be prised apart and couldn't see anything because of the crusty gunk, icky as heck but still picked it up on a whim.
Yesterday brought an exciting find with two silvers:
But then today just had to outdo yesterday with three silvers - whomever was using the coinstar had pulled these from the reject slot and placed them on the counter of the machine and left them:
The cents are 1912 and 1941, the dime a 1918, the quarter is dateless and the Canadian 10 cent is a 1951. The largest Canadian coin is actually a 50 cent coin from 1973 - never seen a Canadian 50 cent in the wild before.

Interesting Sunday. coin slot empty. Saw Tide bottle on the floor next to the machine, kicked it and heard the rattle of change. Open and poured the hand full of coins in hand-pocket. Home, got one silver (54) dime (# 5 for February), two wheat pennies (41 & 44) and 5 60's nickels. Plue some coins for the bank...
For the first time in 2 months, there was actually something in the local coinstar. Turned out to be a very well traveled 1957 D Roosie. Haven't found any silver coinage in circulation for a good 10 years.

Okay, I know that it is not a coin, but an interesting Coin-Star find... It was just sitting there on the table... It worked and my daughter says that it going for $50...
Very cool, had to take my daughter for an appt. Riding the hot streak stopped at the Safeway on the way home, along with a hand full of pesos was a 1955 S!! 3rd dime in 2 days! Ride-on!!!
@Joe_360....Wow... That is a major haul. I have found three similar hauls.... One, I was scooping out, when a woman came by, she had just cashed in her slip, and said "Oh my, I did not know that reject slot was there... those are my coins." I could tell she was truthful, and gave them to her. The other two hauls were mine, all mine. Cheers, RickO
$8.12 including a 1963-D dime plus a 2007 East Caribbean States ten cents. First find of anything in a Walmart in a long, long time. Had to stick my hand in the reject slot three times to scoop it all out.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
@tommy44... Now that is a super haul... even some silver. Congratulations, those are awesome hauls. Yesterday I found one Zincoln.... Oh well, makes the good finds feel even better. Cheers, RickO
Checking the Coin Star is like fishing,, sometimes you don't hit anything,, sometimes you get something that you throw back, and then there's the times that you strike it rich and land a couple of Mercury's!!!!
Last Saturday, I was leaving Meijer's after buying some kitty litter. I took my usual stroll by the coinstar on the way out. I usually have no luck at this particular location. Initially, I saw nothing. I craned my neck, and nestled by the front of the reject slot, was a coin that I immediately recognized as silver. I happily fished out the lone coin in the slot. A 1964-D Roosie dime. I have added it to my perma stack.
Good start for June, found this 1964D dime yesterday... The person left it on the table top, did not have to dig into the return slot... I guess they thought that it was just some ugly old dime... Not it's in my collection...
@WillieBoyd2... Well, at least you are finding something. Coinstar here has been empty for the last couple of weeks.... I think the store people are checking it constantly. Cheers, RickO
Was at the supermarket yesterday, when I heard that telltale clang of a person dumping TONS of coins from tubs into the Coinstar............... hung around as long as I could in the hope she'd finish & leave something behind. Then my hopes were dashed when I saw her bend down & reach into the reject holder & scoop them out & back into the machine. Visions of a big score dashed!!
Yesterday at the supermarket Coinstar.. Seventy four cents.... Two quarters, two dimes and four cents.... no silver, no wheaties, but one quarter was a Maya Angelou quarter. Cheers, RickO

@Joe_360 I'm thinking the dimes are the most overlooked cause they're so small.
@Coinscratch
That could be, I don't care as long as they keep coming... I did get a quarter in January, but yes not as often... Thanks man

Very thrilled to see my coinstar finds after soaking them in soapy water to remove all the nasty gunk.
2001 Penny with floating roof. Abe looks a tad different too from the usual pennies.
